Customer Reviews:

  • Its ok, but think about upgrading to a better model with wireless built-in
the price of the adapter almost makes it as much as the next model up. also, my player has two usb, and now I'm forced to use the front for a USB with pictures because the rear one is used up... kinda of a drag because the face plate of my player is pushing up against the front usb flash drive when in use....more info
  • Works, but not great
It barely recieves the signal, and quality of Netflix isn't great. I have an N-max router from Netgear that is only around 30 feet from my Samsung Blu-ray player. Yes it is traveling through walls, but at that close a range it shouldn't matter that much. I'm disappointed with this product though it does serve its purpose, just not as good as it should. If you have this in the same room as your computer (though why would you need a wireless if you did) I'm sure it would work fine....more info
  • Not compatible with LN46A850 (A Series)
I purchased a Samsung LN46A850 TV in February 2009 that was manufactured in January 2009 (checked sticker on back of TV). In May 2009 I purchased this USB adapter (WIS09ABGN) because I could not find anyone offering the adapter the manual recommends (WIS-08BG). The packaging of the WIS09ABGN states it will work with all 2009 model TVs. I plugged it into the USB slot and there was no reponse by the TV. I then went to setup and "Network Selection" and "Wireless Setup" were grayed out. Tried several things and finally contacted Samsung support. Samsung support confirmed the adapter is compatible with the LN46A850 and asked me to turn the TV off, unplug the TV from the wall outlet, wait 30 seconds, plug the adapter in the USB slot, plug the TV back into the wall, and turn it on. Same issue with the grayed out network options occurred. The tech was stumped and I asked if there is a firmware update to which he replied, "no". He asked I return the adapter since it may be defective. I returned the adapted, got a new one, and same thing happened. I took the 2nd adapter into the store and had the sales rep try it on my model TV and then the new "B" models. The adapter did not work and any TV that was a model "A" but did work correctly on the newer model "B". The sales rep said the 2009 models all have a "B" in the model number (such as LN40B750) and "A" (LN46A850) is last year's model even though it was manufactured in January 2009. He suggested I look for the older USB dongle, wait for a firmware update, or hard wire it to the LAN....more info
  • Wi-fi
Great feature being able to stream netflix or pandora. It took some time getting connected, apparently if there is a space in your network name you cannot get on. The dongle is pricey, but overall a great feature. ...more info
Finally got this thing working well with a Samsung BD-P1600 BluRay. I could not get it working with my old D-Link router 624 but it works fine with new DGL-4500 router. Install setup is a 2 minute task. Netflix works great now. I bought mine on Ebay for $65....more info
  • great idea, saves time, money, diff to setup for novice
I bought the samsung blue ray player based on store clerk urging that it was compatible with netflix. I just needed wireless router (40-80 dollars) and samsung router (80 dollars). He neglected to say if I bought more expensive player the samsung router was included. Buy the more expensive one it's worth it.
Setting it up was frustrating and took long time. I call my son to help and he was a router trouble shooter for another company. He had difficulty. You have to disable your security on your computer and router to get up and running then reload security. For a novice this is a pain.
Now it is up and running and the whole family has enjoyed the device and saved me a fortune in video rentals, time, and brought enjoyment to teenagers. It was worth the trouble in beginning....more info
  • Samsung Wireless LAN Adaptor for Blu-Ray Player
I have the Samsung LN52A-650 LCD TV and the BD-P1600 Blu-Ray player. I have wireless internet access in my house. Initially, I had a real problem getting the BR player to connect to the internet. It would find my SSID but would not connect. When I set the configuration to manual and input all the requested information, it failed the Ping test. After hours of troubleshooting, I found a piece of information on the web, telling me that the SSID cannot have characters or spaces in the ID. I had spaces in the SSID name, so once I fixed that, it connected without a problem. I didn't need to buy a new wireless router. That seemed to be the leading fix for this problem for others on the web. However, I didn't want to go through the hassle of re-configuring a new wireless router nor did I wanted to spend the money on one. In the end, I didn't have to. ...more info
