  • Awesome mini!
I absolutely love this little laptop! I was looking for something that I could bring with me everywhere, so I could always have my novel-in-progress with me to work on. It is everything I could possibly want. The keyboard is just the right size, not too small that I can't type properly, and the screen is perfect. Normally I'm a Mac girl, but I haven't been too impressed with their laptop keyboards and the price tag. For the couple hundred dollars I spent on this I get everything I need. I can't think of any reason not to love it....more info
  • Packs a Punch!
I just received my Acer One as a gift last week. I think I'm in love. This little "guy" can do just about everything my full size laptop can do. It came with a free trial to Microsoft Office, but I downloaded [...] onto mine. I also downloaded Mozilla Firefox and have noticed no changes on in speed.

I do some traveling and love to hangout at Starbucks or Barnes and Noble having my coffee and doing computer work. I also do Internet research for [...]so I had to download some special plug-ins and everything has been working perfectly.

The only thing this little guy is missing is a DVD player, but who really needs that on such a little machine? If I really need to watch something to relax, there are many TV channels that now show full episodes right online, so I can get my fix for free entertainment.

    Lighweight (only about 2 pounds)
    3 usb ports
ac power or battery (good for about 2.5 hours)
    webcam built in
    microphone built in
    several colors to choose from

None that I have found so far.

I think this is a great computer for its price (under $300 including tax). I think this would be a great computer to give a student, a mom, or anyone who likes to be mobile.

  • Disappointing shipping experience on this one
This is the first time I've had a disappointing experience purchasing from Amazon. This netbook arrived poorly packaged and damaged in transit. It arrived in the manufacturer's box, which had been placed inside a larger box with deflated and inadequate air bubble packaging which did not hold the inside box securely. It spent its transit bouncing around inside the larger box. Consequently, the screen was cracked on arrival. Very disappointing. I am in the process of completing my return with Amazon, but will think long and hard in future before purchasing a fragile electronic device from them again. Books and non-breakables yes, electronics unlikely. Too bad, since this is a cute little netbook. I ended up going down the street where I found one just like it at our local stationery supply chain store....more info
  • Wireless networl
This a great portable laptop. It's harddrive is big eough to put on the programs I use for everyday stuff including MS Office 07. The only problem I have encountered with it is the wireless network. I can get on but in a min or two it looses connection. Trust me its not because the connection is far away. I am less than two feet away from my wireless hub. I have an apple latop, 2 hp's running xp, like this acer and one sony running vista. They are all wireless and the acer is the ONLY laptop that looses connectivity. I asked for assistance from acer but the solution provided does not help. Overall, it is a great laptop and I plan on keeping for a long time....more info
  • Peppy little thing
This is a well-built netbook. Light without feeling flimsy, and the keyboard is a good size. I've given up using the touchpad as the button placement is just wrong and I'm slow to adjust so have a Logitech Nano cordless mouse attached at all times (tiny dongle, tiny!).

The ample hard drive allows me to dual-boot XP Home and Linux Mint plus install all the apps I want. Most of the time I'm in Mint, and while the wireless was giving me a hard time from the start, everything eventually worked.

Memory is hard to upgrade. The slot is *under* the motherboard and the only way to it is by removing the bezel, the keyboard, and just work your way down. If you've never stuck your hand inside a computer before, you might feel intimidated.

About the only thing I would change is the networking on this. Needs 802.11N and 10/100/1000 Ethernet. Oh yeah, and the shine on the case. While that's the style nowadays, a textured lid would look so much more attractive than finger prints. I'll prolly cover it up with one of those clingy decal skins- there's a fine selection for Aspire One's out there... ...more info
  • Handy and pretty
I love the little computer and am the envy of all my women friends because it is pink. It has all the features I need for meetings and on the road and, because it is small and light weight, it is easy to carry. The keyboard is easy to use, but I much prefer using a mouse, so have purchased one. Appreciate the two USB ports, the camera and mic. ...more info
  • Acer Aspire One
I got this laptop about three weeks ago. It's running flawlessly. I've even tried putting vista on it (worked fine, but it was slower than xp; so I reverted). Battery life is about 2.5 to 3 hours depending on workload (I'm mainly typing notes for class when it's not plugged into a wall). The only problem I have ever had with this unit was the audio; a driver update from acer's website fixed the problem. This computer runs fairly fast for what I use it for, and can even run some 3d applications such as Google Earth or Quake Live. For the price, its definitely worth it. ...more info
  • Mini notebook
The Acer is a great little computer with 160 gigs of space. More than I have ever had on desk or laptop. Its screen is crystal clear and the written materials and pictures are very distinct. The battery has routinely been about 3 hrs. Very light and portable. I'm very pleased....more info
  • I Love My Netbook!!!!
I have had a laptop for seven years and dragged it around three maybe four times.. This beautiful machine I take everywhere. People see me working on it (heck, this is work?) and always ask me about it.I had one woman come back and ask if she could type a little on it to see if it fit her hands. I got a word screen for her and she typed away saying.."yes, yes, yes!" She's getting one too. Big harddrive. Mine has 144GB, everything one could ever want and it's beautiful. I have the sapphire blue. I got this as a gift and believe you me, this friend is a friend for life..I have raved about this little machine so much she is getting herself one..

Just the battery issue...two hours just won't do it but maybe they will work on a sleeker extended life battery..Charges up quickly though and of course runs just fine on real in the wall electricity. But I want to walk it around a lot.

Get one. That's all I have to say....more info
  • Great "Baby" Laptop!!
Bought this netbook simply for the size and travel convenience. This is one great buy!! Took it to three different locations and the netbook found an Internet connection without any issue. For those who have stated they had problems, I'm thinking it's because they didn't "choose" an Internet connection it found!! Loaded Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, and other software with an external cd/dvd drive. All applications work perfectly and pretty quickly for such a small piece of hardware. Highly recommend this item - already purchased 3 more for friends and family. Well Done, ACER!!...more info
  • The Bomb!
This little computer is just the bomb. We homeschool our kids and bought one for each (ages 9 & 11) to help with schoolwork, educational software, and computer literacy. They love them - and I love that they are small enough to be portable, yet set up the same as larger ones (with std. QWERTY keyboards, etc.) so I don't have to re-educate myself to use it. Highly recommend! As a bones - they come with Windows XP instead of Vista (which I preferred anyway!)...more info

  • Don't purchase the extra memory for 24.98!
Amazon recommended upgrading the memory for 24.98. The memory arrived in a package by itself, no instructions at all. I read all of the reviews for the memory & everyone said it was easy to upgrade. I still couldn't figure it out so I contacted Acer. They responded & said that this model is not upgradable. I now have to deal with a return. The Acer Aspire One is a nice little netbook but it is a little slow. It's nice to have for e-mail & shopping....more info
  • Easy traveler
We bought this netbook to have easy access to e-mail and web info while we travel. At 2 pounds, it fits easily (and without a case)into a handbag or tote--with a lot less bulk than a notebook. It even comes with a tiny mouse and three USB ports. We have no trouble with the touchpad, which is mentioned in some reviews.

On the negative side: it is quite slow, with both wi-fi and ethernet connections. The software provided is minimal, so we purchased a tiny external CD drive to solve this problem. It was clear from the information that there was/is no CD/DVD capability. If portability and minimal computing power is what you need, this is the perfect solution. For anything else, use a real notebook or laptop.

All in all, this computer does exactly what we wanted and is lots of fun. ...more info

  • Nice item and the price is right
I bought this computer for email, surfing the web, and a few other simple uses. I love it. It's compact and attractive, and is easy to use. There is no disk drive or other extras, but I didn't want a lot of features that I would never use. I would recommend this item to anyone who wants a computer but doesn't need all the bells and whistles. ...more info
  • Performs as advertised, and then some
I bought this item with some trepidation, as I was unsure it would do what I wanted it to. I was looking for a basic device to allow me to work on my writing skills while in a confined area, and preferably without the full cost of a laptop. In the end, I am exceedingly happy with this item.

The keyboard IS small, as stated in an earlier review. This would make touch-typing an issue. I have big hands, but I use the "nearest available digit" style of typing, and the shallow key strokes needed on this keyboard makes it work quite well for me and my method (I'm actually more accurate on this then on my Microsoft Digital Keyboard 3000).

As others have stated, the shovel-ware is minimal on the system, and is easily dealt with. The unit boots quickly (TY, Windows XP) and runs smoothly (might be a little slow if you're used to a modern desktop, but not enough to cause aggravation.)

If you are looking for a basic device with which to write, surf the web, or perform other basic actions, this is the unit for you....more info
  • Get one and give one to a friend - or someone you would like to be
The Acer Aspire one 3-cell 160 gigabyte hard drive mini notebook turned out to be such a delight to use, that I got another one and sent it to a friend that I have not seen in decades. The seashell white has the added advantage of showing no fingerprints. I could not be happier with it. They make great presents....more info
  • FANTASTIC....This one word describes this Acer Inspire!!!!!
What I initially liked about this computer was the price...and the computing power for that price!! But, after I received it (GREAT SERVICE - 2 days after order!!) this little honey sold me further on itself! It is a wonderful thing to have for travel or just sitting in your easy chair.
It worked right out of the box and connected instantaneously to my home wireless network. After getting used to the keys and such, I was happily checking e-mails and surfing the web. I bought the white one to minimize on the fingerprint issue noted by some other reviewers. Plus, I bought the recommended carrying case which fits it well. Rather than repeat all the "technical babble" and praise from others, let me just say this GEM is perfect for my needs and I recommend it wholeheartedly. IF you are looking for the "little computer that can" this one! You won't regret it!!!!!!

Final comment, the 3 cell battery is fine and I am glad that I did not purchase the unit with the 6 cell. It is slim, sleek and has sufficient time online for me. Why add extra bulk for another hour or two??

This laptop is great for traveling. The laptop is small and light enough to go with me around everywhere. It has plenty of storage space. I love the color (baby pink) as well. ...more info

  • great notebook
I received my notebook about a month ago. I use programs like excel, word, corel draw, matlab, ... I usually run 2-3 of these programs plus download files from the internet and listen to music on the notebook at the same time. I have not had any problems. However, my wife bought a similar notebook and had a boot problem (hardware) after about 2 months and had to send it back to be fixed. Hers is working fine now, but we had to reinstal all the programs, since they had changed the motherboard and reinstalled the windows and formatted the hard disk.

Overall, I strongly suggest buying this notebook. The price is cheap, the keypad is not too small, the quality of the monitor is fine, even the sound is not as bad as the reviews I read on the web.
