Nintendo DS Lite Limited Edition Pink Ribbon
DS Lite Wi-Fi
With Nintendo DS Lite, dual screens and touch-screen technology allow you to interact with games like never before. Wireless communication allows you to experience real-time multiplayer gameplay, and the free Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service allows you to compete against players from around the globe.

Dual Screens:
Two incredibly bright LCD screens offer one of the most groundbreaking gameplay advances ever developed. Each 3-inch screen can reproduce a true 3D view, with impressive 3D renderings that can surpass images displayed on the Nintendo 64.

Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection:
Ready to take on the world? Now, with Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, you can connect wirelessly, chat and play with Nintendo DS owners across the globe. All you need to play is a Nintendo DS and a Wi-Fi-ready game. There are no subscription fees -- the service is free!

Touch Screen Technology:
The lower screen offers something never before provided by any dedicated game device: touch-screen capabilities. You no longer have to rely on just buttons to move your character or shift perspectives. Navigate menus or access inventory items simply by touching the screen with a stylus or fingertip. The possibilities are limited only by developers' imaginations. The touch screen features a tougher film cover for durability, and the included stylus is stored in the back of the unit.

Microphone Port:
A built-in microphone port means that with Nintendo DS, you only need to tell your games what to do. The Nintendo DS microphone gives you even more ways to interact with your favorite games.

Wireless Network:
With Nintendo DS Lite, you can connect with a local wireless network of up to 16 players. The wireless range can be an incredible 30 to 100 feet and for some games, multiplayer requires just one Nintendo DS game card.

Note: Nintendo DS Lite wireless communication, including PictoChat, is not private and is not monitored by Nintendo. We recommend that you never reveal any personal information or arrange to meet a stranger.

Rich Stereo Sound:
Nintendo DS Lite sound capabilities allow for greatly expanded use of voices and music, and a richer, more immersive game experience. Stereo speakers allow for virtual surround sound and a plug for headphones transmits stereo sound.

Backward Compatibility:
Nintendo DS Lite features a separate media port for Game Boy Advance cartridges, allowing you to play all your favorite Game Boy Advance games in single-player mode.

  • Best gaming purchase I've made
I'm an 18 y/o female. I've had my DS Lite for about a month now, and I absolutely love it! I wasn't sure how often I would play it, but I play it all the time. It's easy to use and there is such a wide variety of games to play, that I'm sure anyone could find games they like for this system. Before I bought it, I looked into the DSi, since it was just about to come out. Personally, I felt that the DS Lite was a much better purchase. I did not care for the dual cameras on the DSi and I was upset that the GBA slot was gone, so that meant no more Guitar Hero, which was a game I was really interested in getting. The DS Lite is definitely the best purchase I've made in the past year and I love mine so much that even my dad is considering getting one :)...more info
  • Middle Aged Mom loves this!
I just got the Nintendo DS Lite Green Spring bundle for my birthday. My son has had a DS for several years but he rarely lets me play it. I have been wanting one of my own for a while, specifically for the puzzle and mystery type games. First, I have to say, that the Spring Green is so much nicer in person than the pictures here on line. I am so glad I waited to get this color. The case that comes with it is very nice. Fits in my purse and looks very "adult." It is a very classy bundle. I am just starting to "play" with the Personal Trainer cooking that comes with it. I don't think I would have bought this item on its own. But the price was right for the bundle and was a very good deal. I have to say, that I actually like the cooking "game." I am very pleased it came with the bundle.

I also received several puzzle games and Professor Layton and the Curious Village. Again, I am a middle aged mother and I am so pleased to finally have one of my own! They have so many games that are not just for kids! I don't have to fight over Brain Age anymore! If you are thinking of getting one, don't wait. Get this one before they run out! This color is hands down the best! ...more info
  • Great
I purchased this Nintendo DS for my son who is 8 years old. He dropped his previous DS in the lake and I did not want to buy a brand new one. When he got the package he was excited. It was practically brand new. He doesn't put the game down. It works very well. He loves being able to pictochat with his brother and his other friends. He favorite game to play on the system is the Pokeman Diamond and Pokeman Platinum. It keeps him entertained....more info

  • A significant improvement over the original, and still has its place alongside the DSi
I originally bought the DS Lite as a replacement for my old "Original" DS. My problem with the original was that I used to take the bus a lot, and the old DS screen was very glare prone, and not at all bright enough to be usable outside. I used to get frustrated that all I could see was my own reflection on the screen.

Thankfully, the DS Lite offers much better backlighting, allowing three brightness levels, so I can use the darker setting when playing indoors to get less eye strain and better battery life, and kick the brightness setting up when outside to cut through the glare.

There are a few other major improvements, as well. For one, the power switch has been reimplemented as a slider-style button on the side of the casing, and the Start and Select buttons have been moved to the bottom of the right side of the lower screen. This solves one of the original DS's MAJOR design flaws: It was all too easy to accidentally press the power button instead of the start or select buttons, losing all your progress since your last save.

The DS Lite is also much smaller and lighter than its bulkier predecessor, which means that you can fit it into your pants pocket fairly discretely and without the continual slapping against your thigh. On the other hand, the smaller size can take a bit more getting used to for those with larger hands and/or longer fingers. It also means that the "Slot 2" slot for GBA cartridges and optional accessories (like the rumble pack) protrude from the casing. It DOES, however, come with a "dummy plug" cover that fits into the for GBA slot to provide a fairly smooth edge to the casing while keeping dust and foreign objects out.

All in all, the DS Lite is a significant improvement over the first-generation DS.

The decision to purchase a DS Light or a DSi really comes down to tradeoffs based on what you want to do with it: The DSi comes with a music and video player built in (functions that require third-party cartridges and accessories on the DS Lite), as well as downloadable content from the DSi store. The DSi also comes with built-in cameras, which are not available for the DS Lite, but lacks the second slot for GBA games or Slot 2 accessories....more info

  • A Chritmas gift for a precocious four year old
A Christmas gift for a precocious four year old, she enjoys girly and educational games. Tho she probably wouldn't be all that interested in having the DS if she didn't have an older brother who plays with his DS all the time....more info

  • its great...
i like my ds... im just not sure if its better than a psp... but its great if you are a Nintendo fan, and if you like casual games more then anything, it wireless capabilities are good, but it wont recognize WPA-PERSONAL wich my wii works fine with, so i had to change my wireless settings to WEP. other than that... its great mobile console... battery last forever... its light and its not that big for your pockets. an overall good system....more info
  • Fun on the go!
I was debating if I should purchase the DS Lite or the DSi, but when I found out that the DSi couldn't play Gameboy Advance games, I decided to purchase the DS Lite Onyx Black. I LOVE it! So if your like me & want to play DS & GBA games, the DS Lite is a excellent choice....more info
  • Garbage
This system is garbage. I got it to play Phantasy Star Zero which is probably one of the best games on the Nintendo DS. Everything else is just boring remakes from games on the SNES and N64. Lots of very bad games on this system. I'd rather carry around a laptop than waste my time on the games this thing offers. This is great for kids no doubt but adults no way. If you give this to ignorant old people and they like it then you are disrespecting them with such garbage....more info
  • DS Lite is a good buy!
I got the DS Lite long after it came out, and I never had the original. So, I won't be comparing this one to the original DS. Anyway, the DS is a great system, and I've thoroughly enjoyed having it, although I have some minor quibbles. Let the review begin!

First off, the DS Lite is well-designed for the most part. It's sleek, sassy, and attractive. The screens have a built-in brightness adjustment feature, which is nice. Overall, the design is good. I do have one complaint, though. I have the black version and it seems to be a magnet for fingerprints. I don't know if it's just the color or the material or what, but I can just wave my hand over it and fingerprints will appear. Oh well, a nice decal will solve that problem!

Now, as much as I love my DS Lite, the fact remains that the PSP has way better graphics. So, the PSP is the more technically impressive machine. However, the DS has a better game library, which is why I chose it. Truth be told, if the PSP had the same game library available, I would have chosen it. Not necessarily because of the graphics (which don't matter all that much to me), but because of the touch screen. You heard me. I really don't know how to feel about the touch screen. On the one hand, point-and-click adventures make really good use of the touch screen and are fun to play that way. On the other hand, because a touch screen is available, game developers feel the need to shoehorn in as much touch screen functionality as possible, even when it hurts gameplay. For example, Sonic Chronicles forces you to do everything with the touch screen, including moving your character when it would be so much less tedious to use the d-pad. I suppose that's the fault of the game developer and not the DS itself, but the PSP won't suffer from such things since it has no touch screen. Oh well, this argument is kind of pointless, but I thought I'd mention that little quibble anyway.

Overall, I highly recommend getting a DS. It works well, and the game library is great.

  • Excellent system for puzzle fanatics
I chose the DS Lite over the DSI because I don't need any of that gimmicky stuff. All I want to do is be able to play puzzle games while on the go and the DS Lite does that for me. This system has lots of puzzle games. Professor Layton and The Curious Village, Phoenix Wright, and Henry Hatsworth are just a few of the great puzzle games that will give your brain and intense workout. For those looking for great puzzle action, this is the system to get. ...more info
I preordered this game system as I couldn't help but fall in love with the color! It's a great present or gift for someone (even yourself)! I think the case that's included in it is just so adorable; it's made similar to a clutch [purse] style. The game that it comes with is also a great addition. It walks you through the recipes and even allows you to store ingredients in a "grocery list". This way, if you really want to cook the dish, just visit your local grocery store (take your DS of course), open your "grocery list" and buy your ingredients! It's really great!

I used to be a sony fan (I own a PSP and PS2), but the colors and the variety of games nintendo offers that you can buy are just irresistable! Sony caters more to male video game players (explains why I play my PSP like twice a year; my only options are sports and racing games) so I'm looking forward to buying more games for my brand new DS Lite!

I recommend this product to anyone that loves the vivid green color and just nintendo itself! Worth every dollar I spent! :-D...more info
