Customer Reviews:

  • Awsome camera
I love this camera, it is very light, has a good screen for play backs and to view your movie. Easy to use, has an led light to help you with filming in the dark but must be close up filming.

Software for editing sucks! The picture mode is terrible must have a very steady hand. If not very blurry picture. ...more info
  • Good Product
Product works well.. the touch sensor took some getting used to.. still photos are a little difficult as the camera does not compensate for hand shakes. otherwise it works perfectly....more info
  • Picture good and easy to use but..
I purchased this camera because I have a JVC camcorder and for my current needs size and weight are issues. Picture quality is certainly better than tape seems easy to navigate the menu's once you use it for a little while. My two complaints are: the minor one is that unlike my other JVC I can't embed the date in the movie which I find useful to date images. The second and most annoying is that when you back up to PC to save or move files to a movie editing program it doesn't save them in the order they were taken. The event files are out of sequence and according to JVC customer service they are listed by files size. So to get around this I have to look at each file individually at date and time, rename it so I can get it back into the sequential order I made the movies in. I don't pretend to understand the logic of the people who created the software, but when I take movie today and it creates a file, I don't want to see it in with files that are created a week from today. JVC says there is nothing they can do, if anyone else knows a better work around I would love to hear it. As it stands now my next camera won't be a JVC if I have to do this much work to create a movie and advised JVC of that. (for all the good it is going to do)...more info
  • love this camcorder
I ordered this camera before starting a 2 month vacation. I got it about 5 days before leaving on the trip, so had very little time to get used to it. Fortunately it is an easy to use camera. I've been using it for nearly a month and still have plenty of memory left on the hard drive. The only time I notice any shaking in the video is when I need to zoom in to the maximum.
I would recommend this to anyone looking for an easy to use, reasonably priced digital camcorder....more info
  • Love this little camcorder
This camcorder is great. I love the size and the quality of the videos are great. it's easy to download to your computer hardrive or watch the video on your television. I don't care for the video editing software that came with the camcorder, but I have other excellent software that I use. I really appreciate that it is a hard drive - no tapes to mess around with! I would recommend this item to others....more info
  • so far so good
Very nice cam, great zoom, good video quality. Image stabilizer is great! Only one drawback: my silver cam gets scratched very easily :(...more info
  • Almost perfect for us, but not quite
We looked around a long time for a good camcorder with a hard disk drive for a price under $500. The Everio GZ-MG330 gives us that. It's very compact, but has a lot of good features. Very easy to use. Picture quality is good (but not great -- far from high definition). Very light and compact. Battery life is reasonable (although nothing to get excited about).

The thing we like best is the price. Very reasonable, at under $300. The second best thing is the hard drive. It's nice not to have to worry about tapes or memory cards. The 30 gigabyte hard drive gives us plenty of time to record at the highest quality setting. When the drive is about half full, we download it to a computer and put the video on DVDs to store permanently. They have made the download process fast and easy.

The thing we most dislike about the camera is the fact that we cannot embed the date and time in the video. We use the camera for family events, and having the date helps a lot. Although a date goes with the video file on the computer, we're not sure that will always be there or be accurate. We looked for another camcorder that has the date embedded, like our old model, but were not able to find one.

Other things we wish were better include the picture quality (it suffers quite a bit in low light), and the lens aperture (a better lens would help with the low light problem). The video format also could be better -- the .mod format is a strange one that can be hard to handle without conversion.

But you cannot have everything you want in a camera like this. We looked at the comparable Sony, and it was quite a bit more expensive with faults of its own. We chose the JVC Everio over the Sony, and are happy with that choice. ...more info
  • Easy recording, burning software not intuitive
Pleased with the ease of use of the camera. Picture quality is decent for the video's I will be making and price paid. Has limitations in low light but I knew that at time of purchase. Zoom is amazing. Still trying to figure out the burning software. I assumed it would be pretty intuitive and easy to select chapters for burning. Like any software I expect it to get easier the more I use it. All in all very happy with the camera, ease of use, and quality for the price. ...more info
  • Great Value - Great Camera
After studying almost every available camcorder on the price range $350 - $450 I thought this one was the best and once I got it I can confirm it. Great, simple camcorder for family use. If you are looking to be the next Spielberg look for something else, but if you don't want to spend a whole lot and want a relible camcorder, this is the one....more info
I can't understand why anyone would give this camera any more than one star. I can get a better picture out of my 50 year old 8mm than this junk they call a camera. JVC should be ashamed of themselves. I don't know how other cameras fair against this one, but I would rather return it and look around some more. It's a cute camera, but so is my dog, and he's dumb, deff and blind....more info
  • Satisfied until Video Playback
I thought it was such a great deal- great size, great quality on LCD, great quality playback on LCD, good price, easy to use function, and ofcourse, the greatest advantage of all- the hard disk! I was extremely satisfied until I plugged in the AV wires to my Television and found low quality playback. =/...more info
  • Good, Very good, but not best...
I just purchased this product about a few weeks ago and I am satisfied with it, but there is a few things I would like to point out. I will list the Pros and Cons of this product:

    - Great video quality
    - Records 7 hours on best quality
    - Takes still images
    - Zooms in very well
    - Has good audio mics
    - Lens cover

    - When I plug it in, my Internet connection fails
    - It records in .mov format - not the best for editing.
    - Battery lasts only an hour

So it is good, but not best. I would recommend this to people not looking for an expensive camcorder as this one is average or in other words, better than others....more info
  • Good one
I already have a JVC HD model, but I chose this to gift my friend on his wedding, he was very happy with the way JVC works....more info
  • Good deal for a camcorder
Its a good camera for its price. 35X zoom with 30GB hard drive is really great. The battery life is not bad either. I used it on my Vegas trip and didn't have battery issues.Although I wish if the power off button was outside instead of being inside the LCD flap. Overall I do like the camera. Its my first JVC camera and I love it....more info
  • Love It
I purchased this camcorder to replace my first Sony camcorder. I loved my Sony, but it was 5 years old and started having problems. I have used this camcorder several times to video my children playing. I have hooked it up to the television and played back the video. I love it. I am not an expert on camcorders. I only purchased this one so my children would be able to see themselves grow up. I have not had any problems with it. I purchased a second camera for my mother in law for her video needs also. I love the fact that you don't use a tape. There is no fast forwarding or rewinding. If I want to delete a clip, I just highlight it and tell the camera to delete it. If I want to go to a specific clip, I just highlight it and the camera replays that clip. To turn it on you just open the LCD Screen and to turn it off, just close the LCD screen. Highly Recommended....more info
  • Not enough for the price...
This camcorder can literally fit in the palm of your hand. It is so small that I wonder why it is so expensive. Also, the features that should decrease the price value of this camcorder are: no night vision (come on! this comes standard on camcorders now!), battery life is a horrible 1 hour and 50 minutes, videos recorded on ultra fine video quality gives you about 7 hours of space, so plan on having a computer to back up your movies all the time so you can have more space if you record on this setting which isn't all that great to begin with! Also, here is another horrible feature, you can only record in MOD format and Windows Media Player, the most default video player around, does not recognize that file. It only plays within the software that comes with the camera. Unless you BUY a video converter software, which is just plain stupid. All in all, I am very dissatisfied with this camera and plan on sending it back and getting another model from a totally different company. The USB connection is in an area that is difficult to open and a terrible place to put one. The power cord plugs in above the battery on the back of the camera which is also a terrible place to put something and annoying if you are using the power cord since the battery life is terrible. The features it offers are minimal. I think the camcorder I got that used the little tapes ten years ago was way better than this one! The LED light on this is ok, but doesn't give enough light to your subjects. It also doesn't extend far or wide enough. It gives about as much light as a laptop LED flex light. Also, your fingers need to be long enough to extend to the zoom feature at the very top of the camera. Mine barely reach to where I have to use my other hand to zoom. I don't know what JVC was thinking when they put this thing together, but they definitely didn't have the average user in mind. I cannot believe that I gave this camera 2 stars....more info
  • JVC Everio hard disk camcorder GZ-MG330
Great little camcorder for the money. I've always had great results from purchasing JVC Products. It is easy to handle and shooting with it is a breeze. My only dissapointment is with the instructional documentation which accompanies the camera. The explanation of saving video to the hard drive, external hard drive and burning to a DVD are quite sketchy. There is a pretty neat looking editing program which installed with the program, which has no instructions at all. Oh, well. Maybe you will have JVC send me an instruction booklet so I might use it.The camera was a sound buy however, and as usual Amazon did a fine job of getting it to me in a timely fashion....more info
  • JVC Everio GZ-MG330 review
Camcorder is very light and compact. 1st one that I have ever used. Very easy to use. Definitly get an additional battery. Was on vacation for over a week with it and the middle tier battery lasted the day perfectly for me. Shaky when zooming way in. Image is good, low light a little problematic. Over all works great. Data transfer to computer very fast and included software is decent. Great value....more info
  • Highly Recommended
As a producer on public access cable, I needed to eventaully get my own equipment to film my shows. Long story short, I ran into the HDD series of camcorders and then to JCV. With a hard drive, I never need tapes and I can easily transfer video files from the camera to my PC. You can even trim off the unwanted parts of the video footage directly on the camera! Not only does this have a 30gb harddrive but it also has a micro sd slot. This camcorder is fantastic IMO! Just as advertized it can get up to 9999 still photos, 37hrs of video footage in low resolution setting and 10hrs on the highest quality setting.

I had no problems with the automatic focusing or light adjustments.
FF and Rew buttons are gone and replaced with the LCD screen lite-touch buttons and the lazer touch strip...That is really cool!!!
No lens cap to lose because the lens is protected by a built-in shutter.
Low on light? This also has a built-in spot light.
Sound reception is great IMO! From 15' away in a regular room I got clear audio talking at regular tone. No need to shout at this camcorder.

With the battery in it, its an inch longer than a Motorola Razr phone, just as wide and 3x as thick. Yeah, its small! The connections are well hidden and placed in maybe the best places where you can still shoot with everything connected.

The full package comes with battery, usb, AC, AV cables, hand strap, neck strap, and remote. No worries if you get a used one without the manual just go to The thing that brought it home for me is that it also comes with the software and editing disc. With this, I no longer need to go to the public access studio to edit my footage and produce a show. Though the main editing program (power...) is a bit hard to find once installed, I had no problems. Import, edit, add intros, transitions, text, effects, then produce add chapters if I want. Basicly you can almost make your DVD run like a store bought movie. Then you can burn to CD or DVD or save as a file on your PC.

It would be super moronic of me to find something faulty or flawed about this JVC Everio GZ-MG330 camcorder.

The GZ-MG330 gets my "Highly Recommended" rating,

  • Something Simple
I bought this camera for my father in law who was taking a 65 day cruise and always had an interest in video but would never buy it for himself. I was able to help him get started over the phone since he lives
6000 miles away. At 79 years old I wasn't sure if he would be able to work it. He did it and loves everything about it-as excited as a boy with a new toy. I will get to see the results over X-mas and will follow up at that time....more info
