• Logitech QuickCam 9000 Excellent choice for Dell and Vista
  I bought one of these for my Dell Inspiron 1501 running Vista. I needed a microphone for Skype. The webcam is a very nice bonus. The software gives the user a picture to use if video is not desired. Muting the video turns off the microphone. It works well with Skype. The Carl Zeiss optics do give nice quality. The included software allows modification of the video quality and superposition of cartoon clip art. Cartoon avatars can be used instead of the camera video. The webcam mounts conveniently with its tail prop. Since it is a USB device, it need not be attached and mounted when not in use....more info

• Huge improvement - easy installation
  I upgraded from an older IBM webcam and use it on my newer Dell laptop with built-in camera also. The people i have conversation with on Skype have told me the picture clarity is a major improvement over the previous two cameras.
  
  The installation was straightforward and only took a few minutes. Skype and other programs recognized the camera immediately. There was very little need for set-up.

  Replaced a microsoft cam with the 9000. This was the easiest to install and the performance is fantastic. Even though it's more expensive then other web cams, it's by far worth the extra cost for the quality you receive. Highly recommend it even for the novice user....more info
• QuickCam 9000 Pro
  Nice Camera! I like the low profile design, especially nice if you have a low shelf above your monitor. I use it mainly for Skype, I probably could do just as well with a cheaper model. Installation was uneventful. It works with Vista 64 bit which my old webcam did not. The software has a lot of fun things you can play with, but after I played with them once, I haven't gone back. There are some nice features like Face Following which will work with one or two people. The people I chat with say it is anoying so I turn it off and use everthing manual. It's a good product, but in the end you might want to consider if you need all the bells and whistle. If you do, I don't think you will be dissapointed with the QuickCam Pro 9000....more info

• As advertised... works great right out of the box
  Have been using the webcam for 2 days and I couldn't be happier. I've experienced none of the Vista issues listed in some reviews... maybe attributable to updates to the Logitech drivers since the issues occurred for the others... maybe since my Vista install is completely up to date via Windows update... I don't know.

• Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000
  I received the Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 before the date promised. It installed in a little over 5 minutes and was operational without any extra effort on my part. There is an easy to follow menu to change settings away from the basic configuration (adjusting to low light, zoom, focus, etc) but I find that the basic configuration works well. I bought this camera with the Logitech QuickCam Communicate STX (there was a special offer on...buy the 9000 camera and get the STX free). I have sent the STX to my daughter for her to install on her computer and be able to see her and the grandchildren a couple of thousand miles away. She has not received it yet and we look forward to using it....more info
• Great little camera!
  Great little camera and installed on my computer without any problems. Now that is saying something as my computer is a HP with the Core 2 Quad running Windows Vista. I have read where some people have had problems installing this on the Vista machines, but I run in 64 bit mode and so far it has presented no problems.

• Great picture and sound
  I bought this camera for Skyping. It does a great job in all light levels with good color rendition and a sharp image. The microphone works very well, quite sensitive. The mounting system is effective for laptops or flat panels. The camera is capable of fairly high resolution for video recording, but seems kind of slow showing signs of smearing on pans or movement. The auto focus, auto exposure, and auto color balance do a good job making the cam easy to use. The only negative is the cord is quite long which leaves a lot of extra cable on a laptop. If you are using a desk top, this might be a positive....more info

  If you install this camera, it will kill your scanner.
  
  Below are my support request to Logitech--and its customer service response--when I discovered that the camera killed my HP scanner. I have a second scanner, a Fujistsu ScanSnap and just now discovered that it also was disabled by the camera installation.

  I just installed a QuickCam Pro 900 and software (and installed the software upgrade too). The camera works great (using Skype). The problem is that it looks like the camera installation killed my HP LaserJet 3055 scan function. I can no longer scan. The print function works well. Control Panel only shows the Logitech Quickcam as the only scanning device.
  
  The problem is that it looks like the Logitech install program changed the driver (TWAIN?) for the HP scanner, the 3 in 1 machine which is connected to an Exchange server network. The *print* function works OK.
  
  I scan using the Microsoft Photo Editor. When I used to click scan, the HP scanning program would appear and scan the image to Photo Editor. Now, the HP program show[s] up, but gives an error. Note also that the only available devices to Photo Editor are the Logitech camera and the Logitech driver. It looks like the Logitech installation killed the scanner.

• Ez, EZ, eZ, ez
  So this product was just like the title says... ez to install, ez to set up, and ez to learn how to use. It has a good amount of features to keep you busy. Whenever I web chat with my friends, I always have the clearest picture. Also the mic is pretty solid too.
  
  What's cool is that I can talk in a dark room with NO lighting but the monitor and my video will still come out clear. It's awesome.

  I love that camera, it was easy to installed. I got one camera for my father and one for my brother, both are in Switzerland, and one for my self here in Florida. Now we can see each other often, the picture is very clear, The sound is perfect. I could not recommend that camera more....more info
• Nice but a little complicated to setup with different anti-virus software
  Great, once you set it up. Has problems with a couple of anti-virus softwares. Not really compatible with Symantec Antivirus and with Mcafee. With mcafee, you have to go to the mcafee website to try to fix the problem before you're able to use the webcam. There's no fix for Symantec Antivirus to enable it to let the webcam work....more info
• Great Product - Very Poor Customer Service Support
  First let me say, I am extremely pleased with the quality of the product, the high resolution image, and the sharpness of the video with the autofocus glass lens. My extreme disappointment is a result of a total lack of support I received when the software on the CD would not load on my computer. I made four attempts to load the software from the CD and each time the software would lock up at the same point. I was able to download the software from the manufacturer's website and install the software without a hitch and the webcam now works great. However, after over a month of back and forth with customer support and sending an e-mail expressing my frustration to a Logitech Executive (identified online through their website) I am no closer to getting a replacement CD, which is all I was asking for from the beginning.
  
  I have worked in retail for over 25 years and have never experienced this level of total disregard for the basic principals of providing good customer service. If a company is unwilling to support a product ($99.99 suggested retail) with the cost of a replacement CD (replacement cost under $5.00 with shipping in my estimation) then I question their level of commitment to their customers and the long term commitment of their products.
  
  Although I have been a Logitech customer for over five years using their keyboards, several versions of their mouse and other webcams I will not continue to support a company with my purchases which will not provide me with very basic after market support. It is just not worth the frustration. If you are an advanced user and can resolve these issues for yourself (as I was able to do) then my words of advice are "let the buyer beware" but if you are a novice looking for an easy to use product with good customer support to help you through any challenges you may face then I would suggest you "look elsewhere!"
