Product Description

Brigitte Gabriel lost her childhood to militant Islam. In 1975 she was ten years old and living in Southern Lebanon when militant Muslims from throughout the Middle East poured into her country and declared jihad against the Lebanese Christians. Lebanon was the only Christian influenced country in the Middle East, and the Lebanese Civil War was the first front in what has become the worldwide jihad of fundamentalist Islam against non-Muslim peoples. For seven years, Brigitte and her parents lived in an underground bomb shelter. They had no running water or electricity and very little food; at times they were reduced to boiling grass to survive.

Because They Hate is a political wake-up call told through a very personal memoir frame. Brigitte warns that the US is threatened by fundamentalist Islamic theology in the same way Lebanon was -- radical Islam will stop at nothing short of domination of all non-Muslim countries. Gabriel saw this mission start in Lebanon, and she refuses to stand silently by while it happens here. Gabriel sees in the West a lack of understanding and a blatant ignorance of the ways and thinking of the Middle East. She also points out mistakes the West has made in consistently underestimating the single-mindedness with which fundamentalist Islam has pursued its goals over the past thirty years. Fiercely articulate and passionately committed, Gabriel tells her own story as well as outlines the history, social movements, and religious divisions that have led to this critical historical conflict.

  • Every American Needs to Read This Book
This is a very personal, emotional book to read - you have to prepare yourself. It is so moving, visual and shocking. Brigitte is an excellent writer and really knows how to express herself - you feel as though you're right there in the bomb shelters with her and her parents as they suffer unimaginable horrors. I'm so glad I was able to read this book because it is a real warning for America not to fall into complacency - that we all need to stay vigilant and know and understand our enemies. This story is so inspiring; it'll make you feel like you can accomplish anything after reading what she went through to beat the odds and become an American success story....more info
  • A Chilling 'wake-up' call for America
"Because They Hate" is a factual account of the muslim movement towards world domination and it recounts the barbarism of Islam, a supposed peaceful religion. Brigitte Gabriel is a courageous woman and her story will keep you from putting down this book. She recounts her early life as a Christian girl in once-beautiful Lebanon and what happened to her and her parents once the muslim population decided they needed to rid the world of all its infidels (non-believers in Allah!) Ms. Gabriel has become an outspoken critic of Islam and her book should alarm the west that is sound asleep! I cannot recommend it more highly! ...more info
  • accurate, detailed, moving and true
After several areas of research and the reading of many books; This book, stands alone, providing human insight from living through the destruction of a culture through the hatred of the Islamic terrorist. It further confirms what was happening that was not conveyed by the secular news media. Brigette's extensive knowledge provides the readers with the truth of the enemy that hates; not because of our actions but simply for our belief in freedom. This book should be required reading for every student in high school and college....more info
  • Victim fights back
Brigitte Gabriel's "Because They Hate" sounds astonishingly like the antiappeasement jeremiads of the 1930s, such as Edgar Mowrer's "Germany Puts the Clock Back." Mowrer was right, and Gabrial is right.

The big difference is that Mowrer, an American reporter, was a safe observer, while Gabriel was a participant at risk of death every day.

She was 10 when Muslims began shelling her Christian town in southern Lebanon, nearly killing her the first day. The first half of the book tells her story, including her slow realization that the only reason the Muslims were trying to kill her was because they hate all infidels.

More interestingly, she also relates how she came to admire the Israelis even though "we were all taught to hate Israel and the Jew" by the church and the Lebanese government.

(On a personal note, I, too, received my religious education from the Maronite Catholic Church, but in America not Lebanon. In my experience, there was not a tinge of Jew-hatred. To expand on Lord Chief Justice Mansfield's statement in the Somerset case, the air of America maketh a man free.)

Gabriel makes a number of important, obvious but usually ignoed or denied points. Among them:

    1. Statements that Palestinian, Arab or Muslim attacks on non-Muslims are somehow created by or justified by or explainable by their legitimate grievances against (take your pick: Jews, whites, Americans, capitalists, democrats, Christians etc.) cannot be accepted, since, for example, the attacks happened before any of those grievances could have existed. "This hate was not because we had armies in the Middle East or because we supported Israel or for any of the reasons people easily turn to today. It was because we were Christians, infidels."

    2. The profound ignorance of Muslims. Gabriel says she lived in Jerusalem for six years and never saw an Arab man reading a book. She expands on this by blaming, primarily, despotic governments that control information. In this, she is incorrect. Ignorance is required by the religion.

    3. The United Nations was corrupt and perfidious in its phony peacekeeping operation. It was complicit in the genocide of Lebanese Christians and the Jews. (She does not explicitly say the latter, but it is an unavoidable conclusion from the fact that the UN armed Muslim terrorists.)

    4. Women are oppressed by Christian as well as Muslim Arabs. The book, and her education, are as much feminist as political.

She asserts, correctly, that Americans are ignorant of the history of Lebanon, but she fails to make clear one of the most important lessons from that history. Lebanon, as the only Arab democracy in history, proves that Muslims in general and Arab Muslims in particular will never accept democracy.

Given differential birth rates, the Lebanese Muslims could have dominated the government democratically within a few years. They preferred to destroy the Christians, and their own country and livelihood along with them, rather than wait. Not understanding this is what led George Bush to failure in Iraq.

The most telling anecdote in the book - and there are many good ones - concerns Gabriel's experience, at age 17, when she took her gravely wounded mother across the border to an Israeli hospital. She expected little from the demonic Jews, but "for the first time in my life, I experienced a human quality that I knew my culture would not have shown to its enemies."

To her credit, and perhaps to that of her religion, she was converted to western values. "I realized at that moment that I had been sold a fabricated lie by my government and culture about the Jews and Israel that was far from reality. I knew for a fact, as someone raised in the Arab world, that if I had been a Jew in an Arab hospital, I would have been lynched and then thrown to the ground, and joyous shouts of `Allahu akbar" (god is great) would have echoed through the hospital and the surrounding streets."

But the meat of this anecdote is not Gabriel's epiphany. The revelation is the reaction of the wounded Muslim woman who shared her mother's room. "Even after 10 days, when the doctors left the room after changing her bandages and checking on her in their morning tour, she said, with an evil, hate-filled look on her face, `I hate you all. I wish you were all dead.' "

There are enough similar anecdotes from throughout the Muslim world to be sure that the woman was typical.

The latter half of "Because They Hate" is a lengthy summary of Muslim crimes against civilization and warnings that Muslims in the United States are, by and large, disloyal. There was plenty of evidence for that also, even before the publication of this book in 2006. Gabriel, as an Arabic speaker, makes the point that what Muslims say in their mosques and among themselves in Arabic does not match what they say in English for public consumption.

There have been plenty of side-by-side comparisons, in this book and elsewhere, to demonstrate the accuracy of that fact.

The last chapter contains a list of harsh measures that Americans and their government should take to protect our liberty. Not all will go down easily. But some are so cheap and easy that they should be acceptable to anyone. For example, she demands that before any Muslim government is allowed to build a mosque in the USA (she means, primarily, Saudi Arabia), it must allow the building of churches for other religions in its country.

I would not want to be in one of those churches -- it would be certain death -- but the point is not that any would ever be built. The point is, if we demanded that Muslims behave in a civilized manner, they would show whether they are willing to do that.

Gabriel's personal encounter with Islam taught her that it is an implacable enemy of western civilization. (It is just as antagonistic to eastern civilizations, too, as the Thais are now learning.) It's a hard lesson.

I recommend this book for every citizen in the United States and the free world. This is know time for complacancy. Radical Muslims really do hate us and want us dead....more info
  • "Because Brigitte Gabriel Hates"
A book that is motivated by hatred and based merely on personal experience is worthy of neither time nor energy. This book will only be remembered for religiously motivated hatred, animosity, and discrimination. The author would greatly benefit from psychotherapy. Only then should she consider a second edition....more info

  • You know what...
I am just sick of this!! How ignorant are those people! How demonizing and humiliating to others they are! Can't they stop being so willfully ignorant, and self-refernial...where is the knowledge, the respct, the open-mindedness??? I don't know what to say, but this book was just like any of those right-wing, anti-noneuropean stay away if you really want to learn anything about islam. For those of you who really genuinely want to learn and open your minds, talk to real, practcing muslims, who aren't trying to please right-wings, and read the actual quran and authentic independent minded and smart, if you really value dependence, and don't let this hateful writer control your mind, like what the fox and cnn and all this stuff did to many!! Also, just please stop demonizing 1.5 billion people at once, and stop being so selective and unfair! Ok? Please...I have had enough of stupidity!...more info
  • So Interesting I Read It In One Day
This book was so interesting that I could not put it down. An excellent first hand account of what will happen, God forbid, should Islam ever become dominant in your country. With demographics clearly showing that the percentage of the World's population that is Muslim is rising precipitously, this is a timely book that will remain relevant for decades....more info
I said a must read, but if ordering, please get the latest release in 2008 as it has about a 10 page revised introduction. The cover is slightly different than the one posted here. Same color, different writing. ** This is a very benifical book to understanding the Muslim/Islam agenda. The author was raised in Lebanon and now the USA. IE: She has lived admist the radicals and tells it all first hand. Having met her in person, I can tell you she is genuine and speaks the truth. This should be required to be read by every American. We need to get this information out to every age group, this is important, order it now!...more info
This book is a must read. It is the radical Muslims that behead and mutilate their enemies. Then they hang the awful remains in public places. Who can doubt that they mean to destroy all who do not believe as they do.
We, on the other hand, agonize over whether or not we should pour water on enemies that would kill all of us without blinking an eye....more info
  • Truth Hurts!
This book is very insightful on Bridgette's experience dealing with Islam. I picked this book along with other books on the same subject, in order to get a better picture of how this religion treats people. I've tried to stay neutral but, I am noticing a theme throughout the books & memoirs of people who have had to live through harrassment, intolerance etc. from people who practice this religion. The recurring theme seems to be that there is a very high intolerance for anyone outside of Islam. It's very sad to see that this is happening on a worldwide basis. I enjoyed the book, even though the subject matter is grave!...more info

  • Because They Hate
Brigitte Gabriel is a prophet for our time. She speaks from experience and she speaks the truth for those who have ears to hear. This book had me riveted in amazement and horror. Of course, it's like so-o-o politically taboo to shine the flashlight of truth on the underbelly of Islam. Brigitte shows how this "religion" is totally political and totalitarian. There is once face presented to the masses who don't understand Arabic and quite another to the insiders. Because they hate, they engage in this passionate love affair with death. The brainwashing is pervasive and few escape. The chapter on "what we can do" is almost hopeful and I appreciated her suggestions, all requiring Perserverance and Courage -- an antidote to the Political Correctness that has most of our citizens in its strangle-hold. I highly recommend this gutsy lady's life lessons. Reading her book is a whole lot better than having to repeat its consequences in our lifetime. ...more info
  • A Must Read
I wish every American could read this book. It details how terrorist Muslims are infiltrating our country with the goal to take control of our government. It happened to the author when her country, Lebanon, was taken over by Muslim terrorists. She is warning us that it could happen to America, too, and tells us what we have to do to prevent this from happening. She has a website: info

  • Take Warning America
I read this book and was genuinely in shock and awe. We need to pay attention, because these people really do hate us. Not only being Christians, or Jewish, but the third strike against us, is because we are FREE AMERICANS, and they can't allow us to continue in their domination of the world plans. Sixty plus years ago we went to war to stop the world domination plans of Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan. Then it was a war fought with somewhat recognized rules of warfare however slanted they may have been. This next war with radical Islamic Fascism will be fought by their rules, taking out innocents (women and children)to further their gains. Wake up America, smell the crap coming from the middle east....more info
Everyone should read this book. America needs to wake up. Not follow a leader to disaster. Remember the old saying "Do Not Judge A Book By It's Cover?" That is what America did and shame on them....more info
  • Let's heed the warning
Brigitte gives the reader insights into the radical agenda of fundamentalist Islam through her own life experience in Lebanon. This book is not based on theory or postulation. Terrorists who use threats, intimidation and violence are living their faith. Israel understands this. America, for the most part, does not. This book reveals that tolerance, ignorance and lethargy can be used as a means to infiltrate and control a society from within....more info
  • Graphic, well documented and unflinching
This is a frightening look at what may be America's future at the hands of Islamic militants, written by someone who has experienced the "religion of peace" up close and personal. Growing up as a Christian in Lebanon, the author had her house destroyed by Hezbollah ("party of God") artillery, crawled through drainage ditches daily to avoid snipers, and when she finally escaped to the only pro-Western country in the entire Middle East (Israel), had to travel in disguise and sometimes with bodyguards to avoid being killed by Muslim extremists. This book is her call to America to not make the same mistakes Lebanon did. ...more info
