  • Do not buy this game if you have a x64 processor!
I got the game for X-mas.. thought it was pretty good... until it started crashing.. crashing.. and crashing.. It got so bad my entire computer crashed.. and what did I have to do... Rebuild my damned brand new computer!!!!!!!! I had to refomat my hard drive and reload the OS (Win XP Pro) to get the damn computer to work again! Paid good money for a game that is not compatible.. they need a disclaimer it will not work with the most current computer technologies x64 processors, so don't bother with it. Lucas Arts is about money and hype, not about selling products that work. George needs to do some house cleaning!...more info
  • PC version rates higher!
My husband had rented the play station version of this game and found it to be a little frustrating at times. The pc version he finds much easier to follow. He can maneuver the character much more easily in the computer version and the graphics are great. It keeps him occupied for hours!...more info
  • Excellent representation of Star Wars but repetitive
Battlefront 2 PC takes Battlefront to a whole new level. The single-player campaign involves specific objectives and not just acquiring checkpoints and wiping out the enemy as in BF. Using the Jedi and playing the space battles are as entertaining as they sound.

But the game lacks differentiation in the galactic conquest battles. I often found it more of a chore than good ol' fun to do the usual dogfighting and destroying enemy frigates and ships in the space battles. The ground battles were the most fun but were equally repetitive in terms of acquiring checkpoints. What could've been done is to implement the objective-based tasks into the galactic conquest and not just the single-player mission.

I played about an hour online. The multi-player is fun but nothing worth forgetting to go to sleep at night.

I give the game a very good 87%, well worth the purchase. Will play it a second time through soon....more info
  • Awsome Game!! Worth the Money.
First let me say that I began with KoToR 2 and ended up returning it do to a lack of dynamic or MP support. But that is a review for another page.

First, BF2 is superb in every way but this review will focus on the MP side of the game as I have not gone too far in SP. The space maps are huge and well designed along with an array of ships to choose from. However, if you don't want to just fly around all game, you can land your ship in a Destroyer bay and run around with your weapon drawn cutting down the enemy. Very nice to go from Space to ship in a single map rather than just be stuck in one or the other... The ship environment is also a refreshing thing as you can enter the control room on your own battle cruiser, sit at a control panel and operate the turret guns. I mean these space maps are just unlike any other online MP game as usually you are only allowed a certain gun or certain item to use. I think the space maps alone make the game worth it.

Ground battle maps are also fantastic, reminiscent of Halo in some aspects with the vehicles and different stationary weapons to utilize. The map selections are so big it would be impossible to review each one but Hoth definitely stands out as a great map. You can use any number of vehicles, Ton Tons and stationary weapons. Sniper rifles, rocket launchers, shotgun or any assortment of handheld mobile weapons are available as well. With most games, I would be fine without the shotty or rocket launcher.... but whatever, in this game it is not as bad as others since the maps are so big that it makes no difference, especially if you have them scoped in with a sniper rifle from across the map. There is nothing they can do with their noob weapons.

Con - As with any game there is a con. This game has sooo many controls that it takes a long while to get used to them. You are going to have to spend some time learning pretty much the position of every key on your keyboard to be able to fully enjoy every aspect of the game. I myself had an easier time, I work in IT and use a keyboard every single day but others may find it frustrating at first. Stay with it and eventually you will do fine.

All in all, there is not a whole lot of bad things to say. I come from Medal of Honor:Allied Assault, Jedi Academy, Halo, Splinter Cell and others and I can honestly say that Star Wars Battlefront II is the next generation of online play mixing space battles and ground battles with fully interactive environments, not just your standard run and guns. Good luck, it is a good choice.

  • Fun, But Not Worth The Money
Let me start by saying that this game was pretty fun to play and very enjoyable, but it's kind of a ripoff.
First, if you enjoy doing space battles (on ships), you will be dissappointed, because almost all of them are exactly the same; take out the shield, blow up the ship, kill a few fighters. And the main ships are almost always in the exact same spot.
Second, the game is kind of incomplete. I was so dissappointed after winning the battle on Hoth and seeing the credits start rolling. You see that the second death star is being built, and the game is over! I was able to beat it in 3 days! It's like they're trying to rip the customers off by making one game and splitting it into 3, so the company can make almost 3 times as much money.
So basically, I would just reccomend renting this game, not buying it, at least not until the price goes down a lot....more info

  • Battlefront 2 : A Multiplayer view
First of all, let me say I LOVED the first Battlefront, especially the multi-player. My comments focus primarily on MP.

    What I Love:
1 The space environment is HUGE! It is exhilirating to zoom past Imperial Star Destroyers, dodging turbo laser blasts. Sadly, I'm not very good at space combat yet, but neither is anyone else I've played online with, so I don't feel too bad. I do have a complaint about the controls for space combat(see "My Gripes:" below)
2 Call me crazy, but there was little 'social interaction' in the original Battlefront, and personally, I don't mind not having it here. You can still fight as a group if you want. Another Star Wars FPS, Republic Commando, excels in the 'coordinated combat' category.
3 The maps overall are great, very detailed and expansive. Some are nearly the same as the original BF (for example, the Mos Eisley and Naboo maps), but with slightly improved graphics.
4 The ability to play as 'heros' (such as Obi-Wan, Yoda even Princess Leia) is a great addition, and mucho fun! Nothing beats playing as the bun-haired Princess Leia, cutting down dozens of Stormtroopers with your girlie laser pistol! Also enjoyable is the ability to set-up a MP game using only the 'hero' characters.

    My Gripes:
    1. There should be a cockpit view for space combat. It creates a more immersive experience, and is easier to control (at least for me). As an old-timer (I was addicted to Star Wars: X-Wing in college) I would see the addition of a cockpit view to be, in the words of Martha, "A Good Thing."
    2. What?! No prone position? I LOVED the ability to lay down to snipe the bad guys. Why wasn't that carried over? Crouching doesn't cut it, as inevitably some other sniper will see my fat droid/blazing white helmet and take me out first.

So, here's to Lucasarts giving us back our prone position and a cockpit view!...more info
  • The Force is with this Game
In the secound Star Wars take of EA's Battlefield games lucas arts has made a few improvements, though the game is alot like its predicessor. This game adds new maps at the cost of some of the older favorites like Rhen Var and Cloud City. Also it adds the new space battles which are alot of fun. With land battles come playable heros. It is fun to slice through enemies as Darth Maul or shoot them up as Princess Leia. A new class is added to each faction, but unfortuanatly you have to unlock that and BF1s speacial class each battle. The online play is fun. The most addicting part is hero assalut were you play as all the heroes (or villians) in Mos Eisply. Overall this game is much like the origanal so if you enjoyed it or the Battle field serries, or are a Star Wars fan this is a game for you....more info

  • Stormtrooper level stinks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The stormtrooper levels are the worst because every time you have to guard a command post, if you lose, you lose the game and must start over. If is not fair when you are on Yaven 4, because the tanks surround the security door and you can't get there with your doomsday device thingy. Every time, even when you are in the DeathStar, the prison break rebel soldiers have infinite soldiers and the stormtroopers only have fifty, which is really stupid!! I don't think it has to be that hard! Make a new version without infinite soldiers, please!!!!!!!!!!!...more info
