Product Description
Steel: 440A Stainless Steel tungsten DLC coatedHandle: 410 Stainless Steel tungsten DLC coatedBlade: 3"Closed: 4"Weight: 3.1oz
Constructed of 440A stainless steel, Kershaw's Ken Onion Black Leek folding knife features a unique three-inch black blade and handle. Kershaw's assisted opening system, SpeedSafe, assists the user to smoothly open the knife with a manual push on the blade's thumb stud or Index-Open system. SpeedSafe's torsion bar helps keep the knife closed, preventing it from being opened by accident. In order to open the knife, the user must apply manual pressure to the thumb stud to overcome the resistance of the torsion bar. After the blade is out of the handle, the torsion bar moves along its track and takes over. The blade opens smoothly and locks into position, ready for use. When closed, this 3.1-ounce Kershaw knife measures four inches long. Customer Reviews: - CAN'T BEAT IT
I use a knife everyday and always have one on me. This is my first assisted opening knife. I will never be going back. This knife is extremely sharp(ask me how i know). the action is extremely quick and smooth, not too difficult to close(watch where your fingers are), and its made here in the good ol' United States of America. Used to be a huge Gerber fan, but now im all about Kershaw. I recommend this knife to anyone who uses there knife daily. GREAT KNIFE!
One con, but the tip is too narrow to be used for prying things open. I broke a sixteenth of the tip. Still thats kinda on me, so the knife still gets five stars. ...more info - Great Looking, well crafted knife.
This was my first Kershaw Ken Onion knife and I love it. I carry it with me all the time. The belt clip can be removed or flipped upside down by removing two allen screws. It's it small enough that it doesn't feel bulky in the pocket, yet has a large enough blade to do any type of cutting. The tungsten coating has also prevented further abuse. I absolutely love the speed safe feature, it makes opening the knife incredibly easy (and fun too). I have yet to see any problems with the knife opening inside my pocket, there is also a lock to prevent the blade from opening. I plan to make more Kershaw/Ken Onion knife purchases in the future! ...more info - Great Quality
This is one of the best one handed opening knives i've seen. Kershaw's Speed Safe really is speedy. Having the options of using the index opener of the thumb stub makes it a rather versital tool. You get it sharp and thats how it stays. Overall, its a really study, reliable, and useful tool. Definately worth the price and you'll have it a long time. ...more info - open yes close ?
I like the look and feel and it certainly sharp. I haven't owned one of these type of knives before and maybe for that reason I can't for the life of me figure out how to close it once opened. There doesn't seam any automatic way to disengage it from the locking groove at the front of the knife and since it is so sharp and the handle small I am afraid to put a whole lot of pressure to force it back in to place. So on instinctive operation I give it the 3 stars...more info - Nice, fast pocket knife!
I use it as an everyday pocket knife. Very fast and sharp from factory so like the previous person mentioned be careful when opening it the first time. I bought it to replace my old Swiss Army knife as an everyday pocket knife. It is light and relatively thin so it is easy to just clip it in your pocket and you barely feel it. A very sleek-looking knife although the finish seems it might get scratched easily if you're not careful....more info - Great Pocket Knife
Overall this is a great little knife. It opens fast, is very sharp and holds it's edge well and feels good in your hand. The liner lock is great. I have used some others and absolutely hated them because they were so hard to operate. This one is smooth as silk and located in a great position. Very nicely designed.
I did make a few changes which required going out and buying a torx screwdriver. First,I reversed the pocket clip because it came the facing the opposite direction I was used to on my Spyderco knives. Second, the safety had to go. I found it slipped to the "on" position on its own so the knife did not open when you expected it to and was hard to disengage quickly. Not because it was difficult to operate, rather it is tiny and hard to find blind. If you like the safety though, it definitely does prevent the blade from opening accidentally.
Speaking of safety...the knife arrives razor sharp. I opened my package and promptly sliced a finger badly enough to leave a scar. The tension that the blade is under requires some force to overcome and gives it a different feel when closing the knife from a regular lockback. Be sure you fingers are nowhere near the blade. I am now in the habit of disengaging the lock and closing by pressing the back of the blade against my thigh....more info - Great Knife for the money !!!
The Kershaw knives are all high quality knives but I especially love two features: The speed safe opening which is as close to a switch blade as one can get and they come super sharp and are easy to keep that way with a good arkansas stone and honing oil. Good work KERSHAW !...more info - nice knife
Very nice knife. Very sharp. Very sharp, pointy tip. It will cut you if you are not careful (I have experienced this phenomenon, twice!)
A little small in the hand. Grip is a little "iffy".
It's a keeper until I find something better. ;-) ...more info - ***Awesome Little Knife***
This is by far the best little pocket knife I've EVER owned. I have the Brushed silver finish But the quality and operation of these are the same.
Kershaw's Customer service is top notch and Amazon had a great price.
This little knife holds as good or better an edge than my Buck Knives,....It opens and closes very easily, one handed, and is not as tough as others have said here in other reviews.
All in All your money will be will spent here.....and I'm planning on buying a second in the black to have hunting......The only down fall of any kind is for myself I wish they built some in Tan and OD Green non-reflective finishes....if they did I'd buy a third.... ...more info - Kershaw Leek
The Kershaw Leek is is a very high quality knife which opens very smoothly. The only negative is the handle on this model. It's too smooth and could easily slip out of your wet hand. I like the black finish on the blade. ...more info
