Product Description

Holds Up To 2GB / High-Speed USB / Stylish Design

SanDisk's Cruzer Micro makes data transfer fast and simple. It's hi-speed USB 2.0-certified for data transfers at up to 480 Mbps (also compatible with USB 1.1, at a more modest 12 Mbps). Its hefty 2 GB capacity lets you store important data, pictures, music, and other files on a device little bigger than a few sticks of gum, then readily transfer them to your laptop or desktop. Making an important presentation? Walk into the room with your laser pointer and a Cruzer Micro.

The Cruzer Micro offers higher storage capacity than floppy disks and other removable media, faster transfer rates, and better file security through CruzerLock. CruzerLock encrypts your individual files, keeping them safe and secure from prying eyes. Simply choose a personal password, select the file that you want to encrypt, and let CruzerLock do the rest. (CruzerLock is Windows-only; local administrator privileges required for Windows 2000 and XP.)

For most users, the Cruzer Micro is plug and play, with no drivers required. (A Windows 98SE driver is available online at Many USB flash drives obstruct the port adjacent to it, making it difficult or impossible to use two USB devices at once. The ultra-small, ultra-thin Cruzer Micro won't cramp your style--no matter how tight things may get.

Two additional color caps and a removable neckstrap let you personalize the Cruzer Micro to fit your style.

  • Very slow
To give you an idea how slow this thing is.....
I have a backup folder of just under 2 gb that I save each week.

On a USB external drive the files write in about three minutes.
The same files on this thing takes about 90+ minutes.

Do youreself a favor. Get a USB external hard drive.

The only reason I still use this thing is it cost me more than

An addendum to this thing: the USB drive crashed and took
    the laptop with it.

Ended up trashing it. The laptop still doesn't work.

  • Fire hazard?
I have the 1GB version of this drive. I used it for the first time today and it burned out...literally. It got hot and burned a hole in the center while it was plugged into my computer's USB drive. Hoping it was just a lemon and not a trend....more info
  • Size is everything!

  • Great For The Price
I agree that it is a little slow but for the price I'm totally satisfied. Instead of backing-up everything each time I wrote a script that uses the X-Copy funtion and it makes quick work of my back-up procedures. If you are just looking for a cheap way to back-up, this is it....more info
  • Works great, sleek!

They install a Trojan hidden in this sandisk 2gb.

I bought this for my grandson and he used it on my vista computer. first time plugging it in, the thing would say win32x has stopped working. Thinking it was something wrong with my brand new computer. he continued to us it for his school work and photos from computer to computer. mined locked up had to reformat. nothing on it but a few photos and papers. he went next door, to show his work to his friends. Then to his other friend so on so forth and the funny thing is if they had window XP their computer would lock up in the matter of seconds. come to find out its the drive. so for the fact they where so cheap i bought one more just smaller. and low and be hold. the same problem not even having nothing on it. straight out the box. im going to request my money back....more info
  • A dead tortoise is faster
I just got this dog so that I can backup data from work. I plugged it into the same USB port that I normally use for backing up to my Lexar 1gb flash drive and tried to copy a directory/folder that takes 4 minutes to copy to my Lexar. 143 minutes estimated time!!!! What the heck????? And it's taking every second of it, too! They say this thing is USB 2.0 compliant, but I don't believe it. It's the slowest flash drive I've ever used. EVER.

Stay away. Stay far, far away....more info

  • For Cruzer Mp3Companion
Bought this for my SanDisk Cruzer Mp3 Companion and it works GREAT. 2G is plenty of space for Mp3's and Podcasts. This item DOES NOT contain U3 technology, which is OK by me....more info
  • Drive is dead after less than 3 years
After less than 3 years of use, my Cruzer Micro flash drive is dead. One day it just became non-writable.

I tried to format it, but format failed. I downloaded a test tool from and ran it; its read test reported success but its write test reported failure.

The drive was never heavily used, never abused. Most of the time, it merely sat on my desk.

To top it off, its warranty period is 2 years. Great timing.

I have always trusted SanDisk. All my flash drives and memory cards are from SanDisk. But now I have to rethink this.
