  • Best Military Flight Sim On The Market
If you are into realism in flight sims this is it. You will not find anything in this genre that has captured what it is truly like to fly into a war zone with a ground war going on below you, hostile aircraft to challenge you and SAM launching on you to deny you entry to the target area. All this with the most realism in the cockpit as well. Most every switch and system in the aircraft perform as they do in the real F16. If it is realism that intrigues and challenges you this is it. Experience what is like to be a Viper Driver....more info
  • Falcon 4 Allied Force
It dosent appear to have any game servers. You must create your own.If you dont know the persons Ip you wish to join in a game with your out of luck.Several of my adult online gamming friends purchased this as well and they are all disapointed.
Graphics are sub par and I have a 7800 GTX/OC vid card along with 2 gigs of DDR2 dual channel pc4200 ram.In all fairness I would have to say though that the flying aspect of the sim is very good but could still use some work.
As far as the vender it took almost two weeks to get my product. My friends all went to local retail store and picked theirs up same day with little or no difference in price. ...more info
  • Falcon 4 - as close as a non-fighter pilot will get
Simply Amazing - a realistic flight-sim for that jet fighter pilot in all of us. Kick the tires and light the fires - shove into afterburner and just have fun or ramp up the realistic setting and see how good you really are!...more info
  • Still a great simulator even in 2009
This game is still great even after so many years.

I first tried this game in may the 1st. I spent the weekend reading about navigation, instrumentation and learning how to use my Saitek X52 Pro system. In the first weekend I passed through all the first 10 trainings (out of 30) and I must say that it is a lot of work!

In my second weekend I read about Instrument landing, A-A radar, how to lock targets and the AIM-9 and AIM-120 AA missiles. Again lots of work, but every time I successfully finish a training I feel very rewarded!
This SIM makes me feel inside the Viper and I feel like I'm learning a lot.

    -Extremely realistic
-Still ok graphics (lead has a Hi-def, 2 GB file for sale. I can't wait to get it)
    -Smart AI (too smart sometimes)
-Very well programed game, runs super smoothly in my pc. I alternate between manual (the 712 pages long) quickly and without bugs or crashes.

-Extremely realistic (some users want more arcade-like games)
-Graphics a little dated, but I don't care

if you use klmcodec to watch movies, the opening video will not work and the game will freeze. it is super simple to fix, you just tell the codec package to ignore the game all will be good.

I will update this with time. Hope you enjoy!...more info
  • ENORMOUS potential, but insanely difficult gameplay.
Almost every aspect of Falcon 4.0: Allied Force screams, "Potential, potential, potential!" The realism, the graphics, and the flight model are just absolutely out of this world. But, when I started progressing through the training missions and thumbing through the several hundred page manual, I became quickly dismayed. I tried on more than a few sessions for several hours to land this plane in the training missions to no avail. I followed every instruction in the manual to the best of my ability, read article postings, wrote to the programmers, updated the game, and I still ended up spinning on the runway spinning with smoke billowing from my fractured Falcon.

I finally came to the inconclusion that it's virtually impossible to land the plane, that I received a bad copy of the game, or the game is just so difficult that it's no fun to play. I tried some of the other missions, in which one learns how to use the radar and weapons systems, and I'm used to having to remember Shift-Alt-Ctrl-Meta keycodes in order to play flight sims, but this game is just over the top.

I threw in the towel in total frustration and decided that it was just a waste of money and time souping my system up to play it.

  • If you like simulations, you MUST buy this game....
I'm not going to reiterate what everyone below me has already written, but if you are a fan of simulations, and particulary VERY realistic flight simulations, this is the product for you.

The great part is, that even if you are new to flight sims, you can put it on the "easy" setting, and just go around flying and blowing things up. If you are more a fan of realistic simulations, up the realism, and you will not find a more realistic aircraft simulation on the market. Quite simply, if you want to know what it's like to fly an F-16, this will show you.

I just wish there was a way to get a printed version of the 716 PAGE MANUAL!!! Yes, 716 pages folks, that is how realistic this simulation CAN be if you wish it to be so. Looks like Kinkos is going to be getting some new customers!...more info
  • Very disappointing!
After having read so many good things on this sophisticated flight sim, I took the big step forward and purchased it.

What a disappointment! I know that art will always be more difficult to master than criticism, and I must first start off with the good features of the game: its flight model is quite realistic. The man-machine interface is impressive, with keys accessible inflight with the use of the mouse pointer. Also, the canopy layout and effects are very well rendered. Combat is fun, and yes, overall, the simulated aircraft feels close to the real deal.

Now, the bad ones. Graphics and terrain rendition are appalling. Looks like the engine that was used was one that was already a bit obsolete at the end of the late 90's. Also, programming your joystick -mine is a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro- turned quickly into a tedious task. The flight modelling of the Falcon is far from perfect and needs some serious improving. Come on, it's so damn difficult to get the aircraft to stall realistically!!

I have been addicted to Lock-On ever since it was first launched. And I am still. And before, I was hooked onto F/A-18 Korea, but it is now cruelly showing its age. Get yourself Lock-On, and nothing else, then please tell me what you think of it. It's a day and night difference. Lock-On remains, up to this day and according to me, the very best in advanced, realistic A2A combat flight sim. Period....more info
  • Incredibly Accurate Game
Falcon 4.0 Allied Force is a super nerd game. It comes with a Basic Operations Manuel. [109 pages] that l bring to school and read it when I get bored. It also comes with a 700 page Manuel that you download to your computer that Teaches everything that a real pilot learns.[Trust Me] This simulator is the real thing. You can fight incredible air to air battles in real time with the Ammo you decide to load onto your F-16. You can control your HUD, HSD and every battle, War, and most importantly, the fate of your country.

You must by this game with a SAITEK X52 Flight throttle and controller....more info

This sim is awsome. Get this: I'm running this sim on Windows 98, Pentium-3 800mghz, 600 meg ram, and the real kicker... A Voodoo 550 card with 64 meg of ram. with the graphic settings turned down a little the sim works well. I did not expect the sim to work at all. I can't wait for a better system to run this sim....more info
  • Falcon 4.0, XP version
If you liked Falcon 4.0, you will like this game. Its the same game with some fixes and additional features. Some audio has been enhanced, new theater added. I was only disappointed by the same 'ol graphics which can be a dissappointement if your used to looking at the new graphic engines these days, the upside however, is I can put all settings to max with no jitters on my 2.8Ghz machine. Manual is PDF, so if you saved your old F4 manual your in luck. Or pick up an old manual/game, itll be cheaper than getting the new manul printed out @ the copy shop. For $25 tho, definately worth it....more info

  • Falcon Allied Forces No Dissappointment
I have purchased both Falcon Allied Forces and the new Lock ON: Modern combat gold. I play Falcon AF at least 1 hour a night. It runs very smooth. Graphics are fair. Flying is very good althought I wish the game would not let me out fly what a real pilot and F-16 would be capable of in a Dog Fight. All in all I am extremely satisified and would recommend this game to anyone who loves this genre of game. Challenging to master but really worth it. I have found Lock On to run poor frame rates and choppy and my machine is middle of the road as far as performance. Buy the game, it is certainly worth the $29.99...more info
  • F4AF
I have been playing with Falcon since 3.0 and very much enjoy the series. I had a recent head injury and the shrinks want me to play Brain Games type of stuff to help rewire things.
I told them that I was using this flight sim game instead and they think it's great for the same purpose.
If you just want a game that you jump in and start shooting things, there are other games out there. If you really want to get serious with the Falcon series, you will need to learn to fly the plane, use the avionics, and learn the weapon delivery systems. The manual is over 700 pages and is only in .pdf format (big drawback) but you can print out just the pages that you need to learn what you need to learn.
I purchased the Saitek X52 HOTAS system and am still in the progress of programming all the controls. In this game you will for sure need to learn a lot of keyboard commands, or get a HOTAS (Hands On Throttle And Stick) system. There are those out there that have profiles built for the Saitek, but they are usually in the .dat format when you need one in the .pr0 format.
My recommendation on this game is that if you have lots of time to dedicate to learning the game then this is the one you want....more info
  • Pretty Good
Not bad ,but not as great as other reviewers would lead you to believe, first off game play is very good, dynamic campain, lots of variety in missions, the learning curve is steep but that should be no surprise with this title.
Now the graphics-you guys gotta be kidding me,compared with other flight sims that came out about the same time, notably Lock On and Pacific Fighters this game is lame graphicly and I mean lame. Flying close to the ground is like flying over spilled paint, it's terrible.
And their bragging about it.Luckily there is a fix called Hi-Tiles that addresses that problem fairly well but will cost you another 12 bucks or so but it's worth it. You can find it at the games web site.
Controls, there's lots of them, but what I found annoying were the outside view from the cockpit, instead of a smooth look at the world outside you get this snappy and confusing hatswitch view that doesn't seem natural, you'll get used to it eventually ,you'll have to. Dont get me wrong this is a very good sim but the reviews of the past seem to come from starved Janes Sim fans. But I do recommend this sim....more info
  • excellent
This game loaded easily and worked right away. It is very indepth as to flying and to fly as an expert it'll take a while to learn all the controls within the cockpit. I use a thrustmaster Fox2 pro joystick to fly with and it works perfectly with this simulation. I have no negative response to this game although the manual is 716 pages long. If you are into realistic flying simulators then this is an excellent choice but realize that this is not just a point and shoot simple flight simulator. It's well worth the money....more info
  • Accurate and sharp
Falcon 4.0 Allied Force vastly re-designs the previous version. Having experienced the accuracy of physics used in full-motion F-16 simulators, Falcon 4.0 AF belongs in the top 5 of attention-to-detail desk-top flight simulators that take advantage of the technology and power offered by today's computer hardware and 3-D graphic engines.

Like Microsoft Flight Simulator 4.0, Graphsim's own X-Plane 8, and the venerable Jane's Combat Simulations series, FalconAF includes a point and click virtual cockpit (unlike Lock On), seamless 360-degree area viewing, expansive training programs (flight school), and mission and campaign editor.
Unlike those other flight-sims, you fly only the F-16. But that should be enough... to complement the expansive training programs, FalconAF includes a comprehensive 700-page technical manual (.pdf format) that re-creates checklists (from engine start to engine shutdown) and training with excruciating F-16 detail that will tickle realists and frustrate arcade gamers. BUYER BEWARE: this is a simulation NOT A GAME. There is a STEEP learning curve worthy of learning to fly virtually the same way the Air Force teaches its F-16 pilots. The program can be scaled down from realistic to easy, with various other "cheat" options, to help your transition to such a complex jet. The program will also allow you to adjust graphics, sound, and keyboard/joysticks configurations to match your system's individual performance.
In addition to re-creating a realistic airfield, combat arena, artificial intelligence, communications, training, and cockpit environment, FalconAF includes dynamic weather and real-world geography.

FalconAF does not include multi-monitor configurations. Microsoft Flight Simulator has it and so does Graphsim's other flight-sim X-Plane 8. Maybe this can be fixed with an upgrade.

I do not multi-game, so I cannot comment on interfacing with other users....more info

  • There can be only one.
I am a huge flight sim fan. Been a virtual pilot for 2 1/2 years now with more than 800 hours and loving it. I read the reviews for this game, both one and five star, read about the graphics issues, and thought, u know what, how bad can it be?

Well the first thing I noticed was the cockpit. This thing is highly detailed and complex. You have navigation, weapon, and communication systems squeezed (and I mean squeezed) into this small space. Technology has made it lot less cumbersome than it should be, and thats how it is in a real Viper.

If you're a person whose sole purpose to go to external view and watch how cute the jet is, or to try to pinpoint your house on the ground, then this is not for you. Don't get me wrong, the graphics are there. The Jet is moderately detailed, from the pilot fully geared in the cockpit to the tiny registration number on the back. But when you fire up the after burners for example, the nozzle expands and contracts, but the fire is like a set of lines with crayon in the middle.

This was done purposefully by the manufacturer because, from my experience with flight sims, a highly detailed cockpit and a highly detailed environment don't do so well together. They made it universally compatible; this can run on any computer. It takes about 1 gig on the hard drive (you dont need the cd after installation) but could've easily been 6 gigs, telling from looks of the cockpit.

All in all a great game. The start up procedures for the Viper are excellent. ATC is great, the manual, oh my, how could I forget the manual. After three days I'm still in the process of reading this. If you want to learn the F-16 (why? I dunno, maybe in a couple years aliens will invade and all able-bodied civilians will have to man a jet
;p), you have to read this fully. Right now I'm learning to identify and destroy moving and static ground targets. Still a long way to go but it's fun cuz there's a training mission at the end of each chapter.

So to Lead Pursuit on a job well done and i'll see you in the skies....more info
  • Fighter Sim Heaven
I've played a lot of games in my lifetime, and those based on fighter planes have always been a personal favorite. This game appealed to me because of the support from the fan base. After purchasing Falcon: Allied Force, I was able to download additional content that improved, and enhanced the standard package, and for free. I wouldn't suggest purchasing this game without a flight stick however, since much of the appeal from playing a game like this revolves around realism. (as a side note, I was able to use my X-Box flight stick on my P.C.) ALERT: SIM HATERS BEWARE!! The learning curve is definitely steep, so unless you have a big brain like mine, this might not be for you......more info
  • Good Sim, poor graphics/VC
I bought this game based on reviews from other simmers. The simulation/flight control physics seem to be spot on. I have no problem trying to learn 75 different ways to lock at target. The problem I have with the game is the graphics are poor compared to Lock On and the only way to manipulate gages in the cockpit is with the 2D cockpit. I have Track IR and with all other sims (Lock On, Wings Over Vietnam, IL2, FS) you are able to see working gages in VC. So the lack of graphics, combined with the virtually unusable virtual cockpit make this game not worth the time to learn it. I think you should expect more from the "ultimate combat flight sim"....more info
  • Great Game -- even for 7 year old
.....I bought this game for my son's seventh birthday. Because I was afraid it would be too complex, I also bought a high-end WW2 Combat Flight Simulator.
.....Flying the game on a duo core laptop.
.....The WW2 simulator crashed the graphics multiple times and is harder to fly (then Falcon is in simplified mode). We haven't flied it more than 2 days.
.....Falcon on the other hand is getting flown all of the time. Sure, the realistic options are incredibly hard (which I like), but the simplified is arcade-like and a blast to fly.
.....You definitely need a joystick. My one attempt at networking to another computer on my home network was a failure. And it will take me a year to understand all of the intricacies as a part time player. Still, there is such an andrenaline rush flying something that acts and feels like an F-16 in a 20+ plane dogfight that there is no way I couldn't rate it 5 stars.
.....Thank you Atari for keeping this old favorite alive!...more info
  • Too real for me!
Initially I was greatly impressed with the graphics and the models; however I found the "realism" in flying the F-16 is simply too complicated for me. Getting to memorize all the key combinations in flight is difficult for me! Although a great sim, I play it rarely. The time it takes to enter a mission objective is too long {for me}, frequent freeze ups occur when I "switch" targets. For those with patience, this is the most realistic sim on the mkt; I wish I knew someone who can educate me on game "patches". ...more info
  • Lead-Pursuits Falcon4-Allied Force
100% hands down the best flight sim out there!
I am extremely pleased by the work done by Lead-Pursuit in both unifying Falcon4 into a single install CD ( no more following a mile long forum to find out how to install, only to find that when you try to play multiplayer with friends you have constant crashes and lockups ), and that Lead-Pursuit have made the first version of Falcon4 that is very stable for multiplayer usage ( we tested with up to 14 people online ) and with no warping within the game even when flying very close formations. After playing countless hours, I am very happy to say that I highly recommend this sim to every simmer. If you don't have this, then you are definately missing out on a greatly configured sim that has the best dynamic campaign engine around.
Lead-Pursuit have done their homework with this sim maintaining an emphasis in stability, and have succeeded! After years of flying many different flavors of Falcon4, this is the only one I have been flying since it came out and is now my favorite as well as the favorite of many of my online sim pilots.
There is also a plethora of downloadable help items, such as a virtual cockpit trainer that is acccessible via the [...]website, for those new to this sim to get you up to speed quickly. Take advantage of the organizations website downloads of learning or flight aids. Kudos to Lead-Pursuit for everything.

  • Must Buy!
If you like flight sims as I do, especially study flight sims that is the most realistic as possible, you will love this game. I have and played Falcon 4.0 and this is what that game should've been. It's a quick install and ready to fly without having to patch or troubleshoot it. For some, just the dynamic campaign is worth it. This game is scalable to novices so you can "grow into it" if desired. I haven't played multiplayer on this, but it is available for those interested. Read the review on and see for yourself. At $30, it is $10 cheaper that most new games. This is a must own for any hard core flight simmer, and probably soft core flight simmer. I would guess that those who want an arcade style shooting game look elsewhere. Just my $0.02:-)...more info
  • A great flight sim.
If you are serious about climbing into a real F-16 Fighting Falcon then this is the sim for you. There are a series of steps that have to be undertaken from takeoff to actual flight, weapons selection, combat and landing. this is about learning the F-16 as a completeaerial combat system with an extensive flight manuel book ans software documentation. There is a training mode for all the missions and explation for each step taken. Dont expect to jump in right away and start firing, but once you learn this flight sim as a real and capable weapons system you will be on your way. If you are familer with or learn how to use multi-function radar displays the rest should should come easy....more info
  • WAAAY too complicated
This was a complete waste of money for me. I guess if you have nothing but time on your hands, maybe you can figure out how to fly this thing. For those of us who have enjoyed moderately complex flight sims, this is a real disappointment, as the learning curve is precipitous. How many commands do you want to learn just to do some basic stuff? If you'd answer "less than a dozen," then don't get this....more info
  • High learning curve
Maybe it would help if I played this game for more than two hours. But usually if after two hours I'm still crashing or getting my ass kicked I quit. Really high learning curve. I wouldn't recommened it unless you can already fly an F16.
