Customer Reviews:

  • Functional and easy to use. Great price
I am very pleased with this purchase. It is easy to operate and it removed recurring code on my Nissan Altima. So now i don't have to shell $$ just to know what the problem is with my car. ...more info
  • Worked for me
Really for what it does, it should be cheaper, but I sucessfully read and cleared the 2 codes on my truck. I wish it were half the price, but it worked as advertised.

  • Handy and does the job
little portable device which you can keep in the car glove box and does a neat job. You can read the codes and look up with the included book.
Saves you $$$ as you don;t need to goto the car dealer and pay by the hour....more info
  • works great
works great right out of the box. Comes with a booklet containing a brief description of each code....more info
  • great product at its price
It does exact what it is supposed to do. I would recommend it to everyone. Even if it is not one of those fancy models, it saves me hundreds of bucks already....more info
  • Saved me a hassle
I bought this for my daughter while she's away at college so we can identify trouble with her 99 Grand Am without her having to run bills up at a shop, or having me take a four hour drive to troubleshoot a minor or non-existant problem.

It came in handy for me too, for after extensive repair work was done on my car, my Check Engine Light came on a day later. Instead of having the car tied up until they could get it back in, I was able to determine it was a minor problem with a disconnected hose. I took it right back and they were able to do a short job of re-attaching it....while I waited.

It paid for itself already....more info
  • Good Product for the Price
This OBD-II code reader is really handy! I originally acquired it because one of our cars occasionally throws a nuisance error causing a check-engine light. It's paid for itself many times over, since getting a mechanic to plug in their code reader costs about the same amount. The interface is very simple- plug it in (the port is under the dash on the driver's side of most vehicles built after 1996), turn on the ignition, and scroll through the codes with one button. The other button will clear codes. Please note that this device displays only alphanumeric OBD-II codes; you need to look up what the generic code means online or in the included booklet / CD. The scanner also does not display car manufacturer's "special" codes, so you might not be able to get a complete picture of what is going wrong (but the major problems are covered by the generic codes). A very useful product, if only to clear nuisance errors or prevent mechanic rip-off!...more info
  • Basic Scanner/Reader
The scanner works. Easy to use. Instructions could be clearer, with better explanation of the terms used in the manual. ...more info
  • Works as advertised
Does what it says it's supposed to do. It also works on 1995 Crown Victorias which came out with the OBDII connector before many other cars. There are other more expensive scanners that store information or give more detailed diagnostics, but for the price, this is a great choice....more info
  • Works great!
Surprisingly it worked great! I have a 2005 Buick LeSabre (no old people jokes please), it plugged right into the socket underneath the steering wheel and gave me the code which resulted in the MAF sensor needed to be replaced.

If you like working on cars as a hobby or would rather fix items on your own car yourself, then I would say this is a must if you want to fix your car when that pesky "check engine light" or "service engine soon" light comes on....more info
  • Good product for the price
Actron CP9125 PocketScan Diagnostic Code Reader for OBDII (Post-1996) Vehicles
I got my engine light on and repair shops gave me estimate of 100 to 420 fix it I got this instrument and found the code got my car fixed in less then 150 ...I am vey happy with it...more info
  • Great tool for average car owner.
I bought this product because the Service Engine in my car was on and I wanted to know what it was triggering it or if it could be just a bad reading in the car's computer. I know I could take the car to Autozone or some other autopart stores and get the code read, but in most locations they do not erase the code. You can erase the code by disconnecting the battery for ~5 minutes but also radio's memory is erased and you need to reprogram the preset stations.

This tool gives you an easy way to read the code that is triggering the check engine light and erase the code. This tools does not have most of the extra features that oher more expensive readers have, but for a normal/average car owner this tools is perfect. The manual gives you the translation of the code to what it could be causing it, but once you have the code, you can search for it in the internet and read what other people did to fix the problem (eiher you do it or take the car to a dealer or somewhere else to have it fixed).

If you use this tool once and you save the trip to the dealer, pretty much you already paid for it....more info
  • Great Unit
The Actron CP 9125 Code Reader lived up to its past reviews. It is small, very easy to use, very easy to read, and its reset feature is great. Well worth the money. I am sorry that I did not buy it last year. The reset feature would have saved me $75.00....more info
  • Good things come in small packages
The Actron CP9125 paid for itself many times over. For weeks I have been trying to get my car inspected only to back at the last minutes because of the "service engine soon" light. It has been raining cats and dogs for days in the Western New York area so I assumed this light was due to wet cables.
The hundred dollars that had paid before to have someone read the p300 code and tell me that nothing was wrong with my car confirmed that even more. I followed the easy to read instructions to the T and cleared the p300 code whenever it poped up. Then waited till it was sunny to have car inspected and success at last. Thank you to the wonderful people of Actron for having designed such a wonderful and easy to use product. ...more info
  • Easy Code Reader
I found this product so easy to use, as advertised. My check engine light had been on for months, and when I plugged it in, it told me straightaway that there were two error codes. Both relating to the fuel management, and this only confirmed the fact that the engine "misses" when it's first started. So it is well worth the money....more info
  • Actron Pocket scanner - Great for the price
I purchased this item to scan a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500. It worked perfectly, it took all of about 3 minutes to read the documentation and 1.5 minutes to have a read out. The code meaings it provided were very basic. I ended up looking the codes up online and the Actron website for answers on what the OBDII codes ment....more info
  • Joey Likes It !
This worked pretty well to suit my needs. I was getting the "engine light" warning message on my 1997 Camry. I fully suspected that it was because I had probably failed to tighten my gas cap the full three(3) clicks required for that model car (this is real hard to admit, as I had given my wife perfect hell for doing the same thing several years ago when it ended up costing me about $100 to get the stupid thing checked/shut-off!). So, in any event, I found this little pocketscan unit to be a great alternative to paying another $100-150 to a toyota garage to shut the damn light off again. And it worked! It gave me the code of what the problem was, then gave me the option to delete the message .... which I did. So, it works great! I must say, however, there was one minor problem. Once you have mated the male connector piece of the code reader to the female connector (under the dash), it is REALLY a bear to get them apart again after you have finished the job. The pieces really do get "hob-knobbed" if you know what I mean. I ended up having to use a small jeweler's screwdriver to get down in between the snap-lock to separate them and then disconnect them (which was a real pain working down under the dash). I think if I have to use the unit again, I might just file away the little edge on the connect area of the code reader part that locks the pieces together. Otherwise, great little unit! ...more info
  • Great Product
I bought this scanner when my Honda CRV had check engine light on. I tried to disconnect the battery (and it didn't help) before I bought it. I used it to get the code out in less than 10 minutes. And then I found the problem of faulty O2 sensor and replaced it. The local dealer would charge $95 to read a code. So it paid for itself in the first use.

  • like falling out of bed...
The scanner was an absolute pleasure to use....plug it in, look up the code & (for me), reset the code and off you go. It doesn't get any easier than this and at $110 for the dealer to read a code, it pays for itself in the first use....more info
  • The perfect little scanner
The CP9125 is the perfect diagnostic code reader. It may be small and not spell out exactly what the code means, but with the included software and the little extra work of walking to your PC you'll feel like you've got a personal mechanic at your disposal....more info
This scanner works just fine and very affordable, but just because you got the check engine light to turn off won't get you to pass the emissions test Unless you know why it came on and got the problem fixed Kind of like using make up, you may look good and feel better but the underlying problem remains The fact you turned it off shows up on the test stations computer and you just wasted a trip All you achieved was to mask the problem Most probably if there is a fault such as a defective O2 sensor the check engine light will come on again after a few miles of driving. So fix the problem Do some highway driving so your cars CPU will reset and get back to the test station Don't even think about turning the check engine light off just before taking the test hoping to out smart their computer you won't here in illinois
There are some scanners that may but the cost is too high, far greater than the cost that a Jeep dealership charges to read it

  • handy helper, Actron CP9125
This little puppy does display codes, even pending ones, quite remarkably. Once the code is received, one needs to search the Internet for a solution and more. After getting reliable suggestions on curing the code, one needs to go basic and check all sensors involved in the code. I found a bird feather, problem resolved. A higher end device may not have solved the problem, sensor outputs are based upon MAF and is's adjustment vs fuel. This device in the hands of one willing to troubleshoot a problem is as handy as a wrench. The price is right and it works very well....more info
  • Functions just as described
This product is amazing. It has already saved me money since I can clear the check engine codes myself. ...more info
  • The Unit Just Works!
My car has 115,000 miles on it and runs fine but I needed to smog it and my check engine light was on thus preventing it from passing a smog check. Due to the age of the car, I just want to avoid the service shop. So I ordered the Acutron CP9125 to see what the problem was and to reset the light. Well, I got three error codes. After researching each code I determined that the problems did not warrant any further attention. I reset the system, the check engine light is off and I am ready to smog it. If the light comes back on, I will do a little more research. Plus, I can use this in the future whenever that light comes on. Saves time because you don't have to bring your car into a shop. Saves money, because you don't have to pay someone to tell you what is wrong or not wrong. The unit just paid for itself after one use. I have been wanting something like this for years. THANKS!...more info

  • Actron CP9125 Code Reader
Code reader is well worth the price. My husband was kind of skeptical at first because it was small and wasn't expensive. But we had to use it on one of our vehicles, and the code was not in the book but we loaded the codes from the cd that comes with it, and found what was wrong. Well, we had to take the vehicle to the dealer for a fix and they put the vehicle on their computer analyzer and guess what? The Actron had diagnosed it correctly. It is really handy and does what it says it does. I would recommend this to anyone. A good buy....more info
