About Speedo
In 1914, Speedo was founded in Australia by Alexander MacRae, a 22-year-old Scottish immigrant who arrived in the country in 1910. The company began when MacRae Hosiery manufacturers, established by Alexander in 1914, extended the manufacture of underwear to swimwear and became MacRae Knitting Mills. A naming competition was held by the staff in 1928 and won by a Captain Parsonson, who coined the slogan, "Speed on in your Speedos." In 1929, the first swimsuits were in production and it didn't take long for Speedo to successfully establish itself. World War II caused the brand turn over 90% of it's manufacturing to war production, providing the armed services with vital equipment such as mosquito nets. After the war, Speedo opened a new factory and was able to re-establish itself, due to increased demand for swimsuits. In 1951, Speedo Knitting Mills (Holdings) Ltd, was incorporated and became a publicly traded company on the Sydney Stock exchange.

Speedo hit the international stage in earnest, at the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games, and a few years later the brand grew on a more global scale. Export sales to the USA began and an international division was set up to monitor trade in New Zealand, Japan and South Africa. The expansion of the brand continued, and in 1976, Speedo was appointed as the official swimwear for the 1976 Montreal Olympics, where 52 out of 54 countries wore their swimsuits.

Speedo continues to make its mark in the pool and on the beach today. Many world class athletes who wear Speedo include U.S. phenomenon Michael Phelps, legendary Australian swimmer Grant Hackett, world record holder Kosuke Kitajima from Japan, and Holland's Inge de Bruijn.

  • Excellent Goggles
I've used these for years since high school and through college. More comfortable than Swed's but seal better than the foam crap. Lenses stay fairly clear with time (years)....more info
  • Awesome Goggles!
Although seemingly impossible to find in local stores, these goggles are great! I swim regularly and these are the only goggles I can find that a) seal correctly on my eyes; b) have adjustable nose pieces; and c) have great straps that don't loosen or come apart. This is surely a superior product for the swim enthusiast. ...more info
  • Good for intended use
I bought these goggles for use swimming laps. I wear contact lenses and need the goggles to avoid the hassle of carrying contact lens periphenalia to the gym and to enhance underwater vision. I bought these goggles as they appeared better than bottom rung, but not too pricey. They work perfectly; keeps the water out, fog free. I'd recommend them for other swimmers seeking similar results. If you're really looking for competition goggles, I don't know how these would fare since I haven't used them in that context....more info
  • Great goggles!
Love these goggles! They are tight, keep out the water and work for the hour of swimming I do everyday. I've had other cheaper speedo goggles and like these the best. I've only had them 2 weeks though, and didn't have to replace the nose piece.

Works great with the Dolphin Nu waterproof MP3 player!...more info
  • Swim goggles
The spaghetti straps are not as nice as a one piece strap. The nose piece is not the easiest to interchange if needed. Otherwise, a pretty decent swim goggle....more info
  • Nice and compactible goggle
Well, this one is really nice which I think, it is worth a little bit more cost for the new style goggle from speedo. The lens are all clear as standard. Nothing else much fancy....more info
  • Excellent Swim Goggles
This is my second pair of these goggles. The first one I had lasted me over a year. For those that say competition goggles are uncomfortable, I would agree with them in the beginning. Once I got used to them I realized how much I loved them. The store bought $5 goggles are quite comfortable but after half a dozen uses they kept failing to keep the water out consistently, though they were very comfortable to wear they didn't do much of a job with keeping the water out.

The way to use these is to feel a bit of suction when you wear them but if it feels like a strong pinch you're wearing them too tightly. If you get a good fit on the first time you hop into the water, these should last a good hour or two. With any goggles, the first time you have to lift them from your face it makes it much harder to keep the water out as the water then goes over the dry area of skin that kept the suction.

These are fairly affordable and last a good while. I wouldn't use any other goggles....more info
  • If you want bruised eyes...
I've just recently started swimming at our aquatic center. They are tight but not uncomfortable. However, after wearing these Speedo Vanquishers for only an hour they bruise my eye sockets and make the hollows underneath my eyes even hollower. I have adjusted them just to the point where they keep out water, so they shouldn't be too tight. It takes almost 24 hours before the bruising goes away. They do keep out water and are fog-free. A woman who swims regularly at the pool said about the bruising, "They all do that." If so, I'm going to give up swimming. I asked the advice of a friend who has been swimming for years, and she just wrote me: "You're wearing the wrong goggles! Get TYR." She's a beautiful woman who has a public position -- she's on the city council, among other things -- and would not go around with bruised eyes. So I'm placing an order for TYR Nest Pros now....more info
  • Really good Swim Goggle
I usually swim four times a week, and I'm sure this goggle was a wounderful investment. It fits nice, and when I get out of the pool my eyes aren't marked. I think that they worth their price. I'm really satisfied with my new Vanquisher!!...more info
  • I love these goggles.
They run a little small and barely fit my big head, but they do fit. They don't leak. They fog up after about 15 minutes of constant swimming, but that is better than most goggles I've tried....more info
  • Decent one

Now, i can see the bottom of the pool...QUite nice, no more fog and i can focus on my swimming...
