Product Description

The Lorex SG6160 Weatherproof B/W Video Security Camera is a high-quality and reliable camera designed for use in virtually any situation. Ideal in both indoor and outdoor environments, this unit is protected by a weatherproof ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) plastic housing, and includes a built-in microphone for listen-in audio. With good light sensitivity and resolution, the Lorex SG6160's small size lends itself to discreet applications and is suitable for home, office, or business security -- especially in areas that are openly exposed to inclement weather.

This camera utilizes a 0.25-inch black-and-white CMOS (complimentary metal-oxide semiconductor) image sensor, with up to 320 by 240 effective picture elements. Built with a 3.7-millimeter fixed lens, the SG6160 has a resolution of 280 horizontal TVL (TV lines). For use during the day, evening, and in low-light conditions, the SG6160 has a minimum illumination of 0.5 Lux and can see in 0 Lux conditions up to 3-feet away via IR (infrared) LED (light emitting diode) emitters. The included RCA A/V (audio/video) connector allows this camera to easily connect to any standard TV or VCR, though you will need an RF modulator for devices without A/V inputs. The SG6160 is metallic-grey in color, runs on nine-volts DC power, and has an operating temperature of 14 to 113 degrees Fahrenheit.

Technical Features:

  • Sensitivity: 0.5 Lux in B/W
  • Effective pixels: up to 320 x 240
  • Lens: 3.7-millimeter fixed
  • Operating temperatures: 14 to 113 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Horizontal resolution: 280 TVL
Designed for use under trying circumstances, the Lorex SG6160 camera deserves serious consideration as a great addition to any surveillance system subjected to harsh environmental conditions. Quick and easy to install, this Lorex camera comes completely assembled and includes a 63-foot cable and power adapter that allows you to place it almost anywhere. Users should note that the CMOS sensor may become permanently damaged if exposed to long hours of direct sunlight or halogen light, so the camera should not be mounted or pointed directly at the sun or other bright-light sources.

About Surveillance Camera Technical Features
Lux rating is the measurement used to indicate how sensitive a camera is to light, and stands for the level of light reflected off a piece of paper by a candle from one meter away. Thus a sensitivity of three Lux would mean a camera could generate an acceptable picture of a piece-of-paper-sized object that was illuminated by the equivalent of three candles from one meter away. The lower the Lux level, the better the camera's ability to work in low-light conditions. The camera's resolution should be greater than or equal to the resolution supported by the system's recorder or monitor. The S/N, or signal to noise ratio, is an important measure of a camera's quality. A poor camera, low-light conditions or poor wiring causes "noise" which consumes processing power and disk space. A camera with a wide dynamic range is ideal, especially for recording areas in which both indoor and outdoor light are present. CCD (charge-coupled device) sensors provide high-quality images that are less susceptible to noise. CMOS (complimentary metal-oxide semiconductor) sensors offer less image quality, but are usually more cost-effective and energy efficient.

Customer Reviews:
  • lorex cameras wired blk n wht and color
I have 6black and white ones-the wired ones-the black and white ones with audio-- were purchased in assorted locations for approximately 40.00 each----and I also tried out and returned many other brands that were much much more expensive(the picture quality sucked)-----the LOREX BRAND are excellent cameras-clear crisp pictures(and definately handle the 40 below weather and the 100 degree plus variations where I live)----and work reasonably well at night with the least amount of light needed-----I have had the black n white as well as 1 of the color ones(the color is great for daytime only-looses all video at night) up for at least 2 years- they work no matter what- mine have views all around my house- and I added lorex multi view quad processor-9 camera capability--and bought a basic 14 inch tv/vcr to hook them up to,
I have the tv on sequence and let it run all the time near my regular tv- so I know whenever anything may be out there--and grin-- that includes my cats--wandering around--wonder if they ever wonder how I know they are there when I strut out and pick em up!!!heheh!!
I have the absolute highest regard and thank you for LOREX-- and the fact that they make quality affordable for we simple people--
oh ya__I hooked it all up by myself!! and ya ah am a girl!!!
