Product Description
Product Description: Thank you for stopping by. I appreciate that you are taking the time to look here. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ In Japan when we want pillows we go to a pillow maker. Unfortunately for me, while living in this country I found it virtually impossible to find an authentic Japanese buckwheat pillow, so I decided to create and manufacture my own based on my own lifetime experience. I have been using buckwheat pillows just like the one I'm selling here, since I was a small child in Japan, and I can't sleep without it! I believe that once you try this pillow you will never sleep on a "regular" pillow again! No more tossing and turning all night long! You will feel the difference that buckwheat hulls make. These are the best Handmade Buckwheat Pillows. High QUALITY, designed, calculated and hand fabricated by genuine Japanese. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ This pillow is 100% hand crafted in the USA! I've hand picked the very best American grown buckwheat hulls, they are locally grown and harvested, and they have been cleaned using a triple cleaning process to remove dust, buckwheat flour, and debris from amongst the hulls. 100% organic, grown totally without pesticides or herbicides and are considered hypo-allergenic. Nothing, absolutely-no additives. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ I use the highest quality 100% unbleached cotton fabric for the pillow case, comfortable texture, very durable yet very smooth to sleep on. Also, this pillow includes a zipper to allow you the option of removing hulls and adjusting the pillow to fit your exact needs. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Pillow size is 14" x 20", just the right size for Twin Size bed, each pillow weights about 4.5 lbs.

Customer Reviews: - The best pillow?
I think that this is the best pillow, and I've tried quite a few. I don't know about the other buckwheat pillows but this one seems to be the best of the bunch. The buckwheat hulls comfortably mold to the shape that your head, neck and/or shoulders compress them into, while still providing great support. If you have issues with your neck and shoulders after sleeping, as I do but less so as I sleep with this pillow, then I highly recommend this pillow to you, though it may not be quite as useful for those of you who switch positions often or are otherwise physically restless before sleep or during the night (as it takes a few minutes for it the hulls to settle into position). Sweet dreams!...more info - GREAT for toddler, but mom wants to steal it.
I got this for my 2 year old as his first pillow. He loves it and sleeps on it all night. It seems like the most safe option for a little person because it is firm and will not wrap around his face.
I borrowed it from him for a few nights and decided the size was great for me, too...it seems small to look at, but it is really all you need and it gives GREAT neck support for side sleepers.
Very high quality, great care was obviously taken in making this. Thank you!

I would have benefited much more if this buckwheat pillow came with directions. It might seem bizarre to request directions for a pillow, bowever I purchased it to allieviate neck ache. After much testing my my neck is much better although it still hurts somee....more info - Amazing!
Well I have to admit I was skeptical, but after the fourth night sleeping on this pillow I was smitten. It's been three weeks now and I still cannot believe that I'm waking without a stiff neck and sore muscles....more info - Good buckwheat pillow
As many other reviewers are saying, this pillow is made very well. It comes filled to the brim with buckwheat hulls (no need to worry about the pillow size being small) and the case is a dense, soft cotton fabric. It's a simple product made with care and it shows. It also comes with a care sheet which taught me some things I didn't know even though I've had buckwheat pillows for years. For example, you can freshen your pillow in the dryer (it dries out the pillow and the hulls so it can absorb moisture again).
Keep up the great work on this product, please!...more info - Just like when we were in Japan
I bought a temperpedic bed a few years ago, and have loved it. However, the temperpedic pillows didn't work well for me at all. The temper material, while perfect for a bed providing some of the most even support possible, just doesn't seem to hold well enough under your head. We tried other styles, like down - but they just didn't quite work for me.
When we were in Japan a year ago, I noticed I was sleeping more comfortably on their style of pillows. So a year later, I finally decided to order a couple for my wife and I. While we have a california king size bed, I opted for the "japanese" size. These pillows are weightier than western style, so I figured a full kingsize would be too much to wrestle with at night. Sure, they're a little small looking for the bed, but a human head is only so large ;)
These pillows have been perfect, I highly recommend them. With other pillsows I'd find them awkwardly wedged under my neck in the morning, my neck sore as a result. These stay put. I'm not sure if its the fact that they're buckwheat which tends to maintain its form, or if I'm just more comfortable so I don't move around as much. Either way, its nice not waking up sore, but refreshed....more info - snoooooz
We ordered two of these pillows and they're remarkably cozy and ez on the neck. I likle the way they're crafted and their organic look. Finally a good restful night's sleep. We take our pillows wherever we travel and these are a nice size to pack....more info - Better Than I Expected!
I ordered a pillow for me and my husband. We have used "drug store" ones for several years and after an initial adjustment really liked them. But these are better in several ways: the pillow case is significantly fuller than the less expensive ones and gives better neck support; the case can be removed and washed and the amoung of hulls can be adjsuted and the pillows are more what we were expecting the first time. ...more info - Great Support
Overall thoughts: Buckwheat pillows are firm and can be molded to exactly fit your head. If you want to roll to your side, or your back, you can reshift the buckwheat to perfectly fit your head. The result is perfectly customized head and neck support. Very nice! This pillow has a very generous amount of buckwheat, and a useful side zipper through with you can customize the amount of buckwheat in the pillow. I actually removed about a third of the buckwheat in my pillow.
Down sides: If you are a light sleeper who moves a lot, like I am, you do a good bit of readjusting the pillow at night. Also, i have yet to find a pillowcase that fits it well. The pillow is a great size for my head, just not for a standard pillowcase.
Personally: When I get a migraine, I also have intense neck pain. I lay on this pillow with a cloth over my eyes. The pillow provides immediate relief for my neck, which, in turn, helps my head. The pillow also causes no problem with my dust/mildew allergies.

This is my second purchase of the buckwheat pillow. My first instantly reversed the morning neck pain I had been having for years and trying different pillows, some very, very expensive. My first buckwheat pillow was great for my neck for a couple of years, then it seemed to not give anymore support and the neck pains continued again, so I bought another, and they were gone instantly from the first night of use....more info - Buckwheat pillow
Excellent product. I initially removed some of the hulls - only to put them back in again. The only way to sleep!!!...more info - fantastic product / service
a replacement for a previous buckwheat pillow ... best I've used ...more info - Buckwheat Pillow
Love this pillow. First week was hard to get used to. My neck and jaw of all things hurt a little but after the initial first week, I can't sleep without it now. Love it, Love it, Love it!!!...more info - Disappointed
Read you guys' reviews and buy this. Upon receiving this I am disappointed. It is not worthy 30 dollars(plus shipping). The cover is made of some kind of cheaper materials. And it is really small. I measured it and it is not like the size claimed 13"x20". I guess they measure it before filling in the buckwheat. But after filling buckwheat, it is not the same size. Not fit my neck, I will fall out this pillow when I turn over.
Have not sleep on it yet, dont know it is comfortble or not. ...more info - Great for side sleepers
I sleep on my side or stomach. This pillow is THE BEST side-sleeping pillow I've ever used. It's firm enough to keep your neck aligned and your nose from getting smooshed into the pillow, yet squishy enough that you can move the buckwheat "beans" around to your liking. I can't fall asleep on my back, but laying on it makes it seem like it would be a SUPERB pillow for back sleepers too. I don't recommend it for stomach sleepers because it's too firm. Also, for snorers: this pillow GREATLY reduced my snoring when I sleep on my side, thus I get a better night's rest (and so does my spouse). Americans and others who use down or soft pillows may think this is kind of weird the first night, but after you sleep on it you'll want to bring it with you everywhere you travel. Lastly: please take note of the size of the pillow. I was surprised it was so small. However, since you sleep better and toss less, the size of the pillow turns out to be just right....more info - Misleading Measurements
I was very excited about this pillow as it was continuously referred to as the 'rolls royce' quality of buckwheat pillows. I have had continuous neck pain and was looking for a solution as I am a side sleeper. What a disappointment! I ordered the Japanese size since the measurements were 14x20 and that was almost the same size as my current pillow. What they fail to mention is that it is measured from seam to seam, so the pillow dimenstions after being filled end up being barely 12x18. When I emailed the beans72, I was given the a very generic response with a lack of concern. Even more disappointing is that the costs in shipping for returns defeats the purpose of a return policy. It is almost as much as the pillow's cost after you factor in the shipping to receive the order and ship back. I am now stuck with a very small pillow that isn't going to be used....more info - Quality of Life Renewed!
I wish I had known about this product years ago. I had never heard of a buckwheat pillow until I started searching the internet desparate to relieve the pain in my neck and shoulders. Somehow the pillow forms to your head and can position to anchor your neck in such a way that your head is aligned with your body. Don't ask me how, it just works. Those theraputic pillows that make the claim are no where near the comfort level of this pillow. I will admit that the buckwheat pillows are a little heavier than normal and I definitely would not go beyond the 14x20 size. You will have to get use to the slight crispy sound but in one or two days you forget completely about it.
On another note, my husband use to swear by those foam pillows and is very picky about trying new things. He asked me to order one for him. Well, I just knew he wouldn't like it so I was excited that I would be getting his since the last one I ordered was the Japanese size and I wanted a slightly larger one. Well after about three days I asked was he going to give me the pillow and he stated that I would have to order my own and DON'T TOUCH his, it's a keeper. This is what I call a breakthrough.
I have suffered neck and shoulder pain for years of poor posture and now I am on the road to recovery. While I am not completely pain-free, at least now I don't dread going to bed at night.

This vendor really delivers a quality product. I recently replaced our old buckwheat pillows with this pillow and my husband and I are very satisfied. He removed a few hulls from his pillow, but I liked the firmness. The size is perfect, bigger would be too heavy. This is our second order as these pillows make great gifts and we wanted to share them with a family member. I also ordered extra pillowcases, which I should have done with my original order, as the size is hard to find. Ordered a travel pillow, too. It's small and should be easy to stuff in my carryon. ...more info - High quality product
We've used buckwheat hull pillows for many years, but ours had finally worn out and needed replaced. I ordered two of these pillows from beans72dotcom and could not be more pleased!
The outer shell is very high quality: thick, durable muslin fabric with fine stitchwork and a good zipper. It is obvious that these pillows were painstakingly made and will last for many years.
The buckwheat hulls also seem to be of high quality: little to no broken pieces, no stems or debris, and nice and clean. Also, the seller offers additional plain buckwheat hulls for sale if/when the hulls compact over time (this is called polishing, it is explained in detail in the flyer that came with the pillows). This shouldn't be necessary for quite awhile, buckwheat hulls are very durable and we have had the mass-marketed and produced pillows we own for almost ten years.
These are very comfortable pillows and if you are in the market for a buckwheat hull pillow, I'm sure you will be very satisfied with this purchase....more info - Buckwheat - the perfect pillow
Received the pillow and it is everything I had hoped for. I had one previously and forgot how much I missed it. My head does not sweat at night so my hairdo is the same in the morning as it was the night before. No delay on delivery....more info - Just not for me
I was persuaded by the good reviews and product description and bought this handcrafted organic buckwheat pillow as a Christmas gift for my husband, who's been having neck problems. It arrived very quickly and seemed very neat and well-made, and smelled nice. It made a very pleasing-looking and unique gift. My husband tried it Christmas night--and then didn't say much, and for a few nights afterwards the pillow remained on the chair. I tried it myself one night and couldn't stand it through the whole night--it was uncomfortable and I finally tossed it on the floor. This pillow just sits there on the bed in an unmoveable lump. In fact, the next morning I had a crick in my neck from sleeping on it half the night.
I don't fault the manufacturer, who gave good service, and I don't doubt this pillow helps others, but having become used to our much more manipulateable goosedown-filled pillows, which we can mould to any shape or height with a couple of quick whacks, this buckwheat technology is unfortunately not for us. I am sorry to have to be negative, but if you are used to softer pillows, a buckwheat pillow may be more rigid than you expect or want....more info - Just a "Little" disappointed
The quality of the product was excellent. However, I find the pillow to be a little hard. Maybe it's supposed to be this way? I've never used a buckwheat pillow before. I've only slept on it for a couple of nights and am hoping I get more used to it. I will admit that I don't have the neck pain that I've always had when using a standard pillow....more info
