The Bushnell Velocity Speed Gun is ideal for high school or youth programs.

Knowing how fast a player pitches or runs can instantly influence a coaching decision. • Perfect for the Job
I ordered this radar gun for a few different reasons. 1) For the price it's a great deal. 2) I had used a friend's a few years back so I was already familiar with Bushnell products and knew first hand what it could works as advertised. Unit is very consistent and accurate. And finally, 3) My son plays travel baseball and little league baseball so using it for checking out opposing team's pitcher's is a plus. It's just an all around good investment. The only downside is the cheap carry bag, so my wife made me a heavier denim bag....more info
  • what a blast ive had
right out of the box,, drop in battaries, and off you issues or noproblems.
we have had problems with speeders on our business rd for a while,so just to see how bad it was,i decided to test it out. lot of 60's and even up to a 73 mph in a 40mph speedzone..but those that had there radar detectors on were slowing down big time and breakin there knecks lookin round for a cop,, it was hillarious,,and then we decided to clock some of my rc cars,, it was a blast playing with this thing.
no problems useing or reading it,, functioned great....more info
  • Good Buy
I was a bit skeptical when I purchased this item. Overall, I'm pleased with the speed gun. It's easy to use and seems accurate. Our pitching coach used his own, much more expensive gun when measuring my son's velocity, and it was +/- 1 mph. I highly recommend....more info
  • What I was looking for but $50 cheaper
This gun does exactly what I wanted. The best thing is that I paid $79 when most places are asking $129....more info
  • High price for a so-so product
I broke out the radar gun to check out my son's pitching speed. Out of 20 tries, I got one reading that was even close to accurate. He was recently clocked at 80 mph on a reliable Juggs gun, but the best I could get from this product was one reading of 73 mph. Now, even if he did throw it 73, why was I getting readings anywhere from 11 to 23 mph on the other 19? Operator error? Sure, but why isit so difficult to get the reading? It was a breeze on the Juggs gun.

In sum, highly inaccurate, difficult to get readings consistently (ANY kind of readings!), and a major disappointment....more info
  • Very nice for the price.
I bet there are guns that can do a lot more than this one but you will pay hundreds more, I wish it was a little smaller and more compact. Overall very good for sports, I got this one for track....more info
  • Our Speed gun
The microwave speed gun , liked by the owners and users, and often disliked by speeders, has become another appliance. At short range, it reads runners and walkers and projectiles quite well. Looking thru front or rear vehicle windows gives very accurate own speed, and can see oncoming relative speed as well. The usual caution must be observed. ONLY ONE moving subject,or lots of confusion in the circuitry.
Aside; When these devices look at each other, they are both blind. The instructions confirm this.
Semantics; Although the word "radar" is used to describe this "Doppler speed gun", A real RADAR* tells distance as well as velocity.

I would have liked a little "tuning fork" to check the speed accuracy.

    * RADAR= RAdio Distance And Ranging.

  • Great Product
I bought this Speed Gun several weeks ago and have been pleased with it's ease of use and durability. The gun is simple to use, just turn it on, hold the trigger and you get your readings. I have dropped the gun a couple of times and the durable construction saved the gun. The only issue is that it appears the readings are a couple of miles per hour low, however, the readings are consistent so making the speed adjustment is easy. I have been using the gun to gauge the speed of my 9-year olds pitches and it has worked fine....more info
  • three for a reason
i'm rating this a three as i have not yet used it. i suspect it will work perfectly, but i'm not certain. i do like the simplicity of the design, and my intent is to track the speeds in my condo complex. ...more info
  • Struggles with smaller objects
I bought this to measure two things basically: tennis and baseball velocity. After testing the gun at first just on some cars, I was excited because it was extremely accurate. However, once I went to measure baseball pitching velocity and tennis, it was consistently 15-20 mph slow. The baseball pitcher was throwing in the mid to upper 80s, and has been verified by a JUGS gun, and he was topping out on this gun at 73. I wanted this to work so badly because it is a great price, but I believe I will have to return it because it has not been accurate for me on what I wanted it for. ...more info
  • Excelent for the price
I bought this gun to dial in my 4yr old son's snowmobile for grass dragging. After making some modifications the gun said his sled was going 18mph and when my son raced again his time slip said 18mph so I'd say the gun is pretty accurate....more info
  • Great product
I purchased this product and was very impressed with the accuracy of the radar unit. With it being powered with only two c size batterys i was not expecting much out of the unit. I have found that the unit works as good as my stationary handheld only difference is no sound on the speed gun. I recommend this item to anyone wanting a cheap and efficient way to control traffic speed ie:security in a complex or any nascar fan. only fall back again is the battery life. ...more info
  • good for lacrosse shot practice
I saw prior reviews that made me wonder if the Bushnell Velocity speedgun would reliably time my son's lacrosse shot. He is a youth player who has previously been timed at mid 60 m.p.h. on professional radar guns. I have only used it once so far due to the bad winter weather, but it was a complete success. His fastest shots were 68 m.p.h and his slowest were 63 m.p.h. I stood directly behind the lax goal and crouched so that I was holding the gun at about goalie chest level and he fired straight overhand shots directly at the gun. it seemed to work consistently as it read higher or lower in direct relation to what appeared to be faster or slower shots and in comparison to shots by his friends. I hope it maintains its reliability over time as I would like to use it for team training....more info
  • Bushnell Velocity Speed Gun
Like many Christmas toys, thie product worked on Christmas Day and never again. My son tried to use it with his friends at home to time their hockey shots on New Years' Eve and after the first 5 or 6 players it started to register erroneous speeds. We changed the batteries 3 times to no avail. It appears to work properly but the speeds registered are way too low (less than 1/4 of the correct speed) on either miles per hour or kilometers per hour. Its a piece of junk. NO STARS From this rater....more info
  • radar gun
For the price this isn't a real bad deal. Battery life is very good. Range is OK, As long as you're not looking at too small an object and can stand close to the line of flight it it works fine. The only drawback is that it automatically shuts off after a few minutes, and you may miss something unless you keep looking at whether it's on. The readout could also be brighter as it's difficult to read in bright sun. It would be nice to have a way to plug it into the cigarette lighter of a car for recharging or use but I guess that's one of the reasons it's as inexpensive as it is.
Overall, I think that it's a good deal for the price....more info
  • Awesome!
For the price, this is great - heck, it's a whole lot of fun even not considering the price. We took it out and ran the highways using two WAAS enabled GPS units as backups, and it appears to be incredibly accurate....more info
