This system allows you to view up to four camera locations in real-time sequentially in full-screen, or simultaneously in quad or PIP (picture-in-picture) modes. The included four cameras have a built-in motion-sensing function so you won't miss any action, while the built-in DVR (digital video recorder) allows 100-hours of real-time and 2,250-hours of total recording. Featuring password security protection, remote control, and other features the Lorex SG21CD7444-A80 is a complete, self-contained observation system perfect for everything from the home or business applications, to professional security installations. The SG21CD7444-A80's 21-inch color picture-tube monitor can be operated via its built-in main panel or via an included remote control. Built inside a durable metal cabinet housing, this monitor includes four DIN/BNC (Bayonet Neill-Concelman, RF-type) composite video inputs, and four RCA audio inputs. Also included are four alarm inputs with one alarm output for connecting external alarm devices. The SG21CD7444-A80 monitor features on-screen display of date/time/camera, and a stand-by switch that allows recording to occur while monitor is off. Multi-voltage compatible, the SG21CD7444-A80's monitor runs on 90 to 250-volts of power, achieves an high horizontal resolution of 480 TVL (TV lines) at up to 30 fps (frames per second), and has an operating temperature of 0 to 40 degrees Celsius. The cameras that come with the SG21CD7444-A80 utilize 0.25-inch color CCD (charge-coupled device) image sensors with a 3.6mm fixed lenses. Powered from the monitor via their connecting cables, these cameras achieve a horizontal resolution of 330 TVL and can receive a usable picture at a minimum illumination level of 0.5 Lux for very low-light condition viewing. Constructed of a durable white ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) plastic, these units feature an automatic electronic shutter with speeds ranging from 1/60 to 1/100,000 of a second, and PIR (passive InfraRed) motion sensors that alert you of camera activity. The SG21CD7444-A80's cameras come with their own 63-foot connection cable allowing you to install them virtually anywhere, and can operate in temperatures ranging from -20 to 50 degrees Celsius. The Lorex SG21CD7444-A80's built-in DVR utilizes a modified MJPEG video compression, and achieves a maximum video resolution of 720 by 576 effective pixels and recording resolution of 640 by 272 effective pixels. The SG21CD7444-A80 provides you with date and time or full-list searching, and password protection for security purposes. This DVR has a built-in 80 GB (Gigabyte) IDE-type (Integrated Drive Electronics) HDD that allows up to 100-hours of real-time and 2,250 hours of total recording. This unit features three adjustable video-quality settings and four selectable recording modes, and a 1,000-event alarm history log. For additional alarm or control functionality, the SG21CD7444-A80 has a RS-232 connection that allows you to connect an alarm-terminal block and remotely control the system via a PC, and a slave HDD input for additional storage. Designed primarily for indoor use, the Lorex SG21CD7444-A80 offers you everything you need in a security surveillance system. Compatible with other Lorex digital video devices, the SG21CD7444-A80 allows up to four cameras to be controlled, viewed, and recorded all by a single unit. Users should note that the CCD image sensors in the cameras may become permanently damaged if exposed to long hours of direct sunlight or halogen light, so the cameras should not be mounted or pointed directly at the sun or other bright-light sources. About Surveillance Camera Technical Features Lux rating is the measurement used to indicate how sensitive a camera is to light, and stands for the level of light reflected off a piece of paper by a candle from one meter away. Thus a sensitivity of three Lux would mean a camera could generate an acceptable picture of a piece-of-paper-sized object that was illuminated by the equivalent of three candles from one meter away. The lower the Lux level, the better the camera's ability to work in low-light conditions. The camera's resolution should be greater than or equal to the resolution supported by the system's recorder or monitor. The S/N, or signal to noise ratio, is an important measure of a camera's quality. A poor camera, low-light conditions or poor wiring causes "noise" which consumes processing power and disk space. A camera with a wide dynamic range is ideal, especially for recording areas in which both indoor and outdoor light are present. CCD (charge-coupled device) sensors provide high-quality images that are less susceptible to noise. CMOS (complimentary metal-oxide semiconductor) sensors offer less image quality, but are usually more cost-effective and energy efficient. What's in the Box Color quad monitor (built-in DVD), 4 cameras, 4 cables, 4 camera brackets, hard disk drive, 2 keys for cartridge, and owner's manual.
