Product Description
From the comfortably arched handles to the stylish flared silhouettes, the Calphalon Contemporary line is designed to please. Looks aren't everything however, and this cookware line is not simply another pretty face! No indeed, this collection is constructed of heavy gauge aluminum, reknowned for its fast and even heating, and it's lined with durable non-stick for easy clean up and low fat cooking. Lids are of tempered glass to allow visual monitoring of the cooking process. This sauce pan is a good choice for making puddings, heating hot fudge or dips or for cooking veggies. Additionally the low and wide profile combine to facilitate evaporation, an essential aspect of reduction sauces.
Perfect for reducing sauces or cooking vegetables on the stovetop and for braising meat in the oven, this shallow, 2-1/2-quart saucepan is coated with nonstick inside to release food readily and clean easily. The nonstick is durable enough to go safely into the oven at temperatures up to 450 degrees F. Made of heavy-gauge aluminum with a matte finish, the pan conducts heat uniformly and quickly. Because the aluminum is anodized it's harder than steel and the pan won't scratch, chip, or crack. The oval, brushed stainless-steel handle stays cool on the stovetop and has a hanging hole for the pan to be stored on hook or peg. The domed glass lid collects and returns moisture to food and permits monitoring of cooking without reducing the temperature inside the pan. Calphalon Contemporary Nonstick cookware carries a lifetime warranty against defects.

Customer Reviews: - Calphalon Short & Saucy 2 1/2 qt saucepan
This was the most recommended by Cooks Magazine. I had searched locally and not able to find. Found on Amazon.com at a GREAT price. I'm a Southern Cook and grits just pour out with absolutely NO sticking. Sauces cook evenly and without sticking. Clean up is a breeze. Great product at a Great price, no shipping charges, too!...more info - Buying a Second One!
Such an amazing product for such a reasonable price! I just put a second one in my cart because the first is always in use.
I use this at least once a day, and it performs flawlessly for every task. Rice, potatoes, sauces, veggies, soup reheats, etc. - versatile, good heat conduction, super easy cleanup. Especially like the glass lid; looks clean and streamlined, and easy to check rice without peeking.
Only word of caution: The handle on the pot stays cool, but the handle on the lid does not, so don't let your mind wander - as mine did - ouch!...more info - my favorite pan
My most versatle pan!! Cleans like a breeze and never sticks. I've had mine for two years and used it for vegatables, swiss steak, soup and even baked rolls in it! Have bought two for gifts. Just as with any good pans, handwash only--which is super easy!!! Most of my pans are calphalon and followed manufacturer instructions and have not put any in dishwasher. A quick swish with a soapy sponge and rinse. Surely recommend the skillets, too....more info - Giving Mine Away
I'm giving mine away without ever using it. It is an odd shape and seems unbalanced. I think a standard saucier will work better for me....more info - Fantastic
I bought one of these about two years ago. It was my first Calphalon piece. I love it and use it almost every day. I intend to buy more....more info - Wonderful pot
I love this pot. I cook rice in it often - and sauces. It even goes in the oven! (think it's up to 350 or maybe 400 degrees)
I've had it several years - use it at least once a week - and just love it! It's easy to clean, things don't stick, it's heavy and sturdy and the Calphalon warranty and customer service are AWESOME (I had 2 Calphalon skillets I recently had to return due to the coating coming off and they were quickly replaced by new ones, no questions asked)...more info - Very durable
this is one strong pan. and the glass is thick also. I use for deep frying also and the oil stays even in temp. and the no-stick is on all sides so it cleans up easy. one of the best pans I have....more info - Excellent Good Sized Nonstick Saucepan
I purchased this saucepan after watching America's Test Kitchen. I really do take into account their extensive testing of products and therefore have purchased several kitchen items that they've recommended. I have not been disappointed to date. This pan is the best. You should buy it. You'll be glad you did.
...more info - Great for stir fry, etc.
If you don't have a gas stove, this flat bottom is great on your electric. I love the high sides so the food doesn't slide over the top. Very useful pan....more info - Good product\^^/
Have been using this for the past 6 months. The bottom has some small cuts/stripes. Use the hand soap and a piece of clothe (not sponge) to wash very gently. Far as cooking, it gives very good result. Far as how to best remove/wash debris from this pot/pan I have no clue\^^/...more info - Calphalon
This cookware is great! Wish I'd discovered it years ago. I'm throwing out all my old stuff, as I acquire new pieces. And Amazon's prices are great....more info - Very pleased
This pot is very well made and nice looking as well. It definitely suits my needs!...more info - Yeah, but ... a rare miss from Calphalon.
First, the product is Calphalon, so you know it's going to wear very well. But ...
The shallow design is a loser for most purposes, and in fact its width and the lengthe of its handle make it difficult to clean in my evenly divided sink (key for living, NEVER install a standard sized sink divided exactly in half). Furthermore, the handle is very awkardly placed. I'm no weakling, but even with the saucepan empty, it is uncomfortable to hold. This could have been made easier with a secondary handle on the opposite side.
Therefore, unless you really need this exact diameter, I strongly recommend getting a less-wide, deeper saucepan, with a straight not curved handle....more info - The most used pot in the house!!
This is a fantastic pot. A great size for all sorts of cooking. I love the even heat distribution and clean up is an absolute breeze! Handle has a great "feel" to it and never gets hot. The most used pot in the house and an absolute bargain!!...more info - The perfect saucepan!!!
I normally don't write reviews but I had to look up this purchase a year later and made sure to give this 2 huge thumbs up!!!! As a chef this is my new favorite pan. I use it for everything! The construction is of high caliber material. It's heavy, the heating is even, firm handle, and the lid fits perfectly. The glass allows me to see when it's exactly done w/o opening the lid.
What makes this so great is the nonstick quality is the best I've seen in a long time. As long as you don't use abrasive cleaning or metal cooking utensils, the nonstick looks and perform like it was in mint condition. And on top of all this.... the cost is BARGAIN! I didn't realized how cheap this was until I pulled up my purchase. I would pay up to $99 for this pan because it's worth it. If you are new to cooking, a regular house mom, or a professional, you should really, really have this pan in your arsenal. I promise you, you won't be disappointed. If you have child in college, a sibling that loves to cook, or someone who doesn't own a decent kitchen cookware you should get them this pan! It's an affordable gift that keeps on gving. I own the entire All-Clad set but this pan still remains my favorite. And that set was valued at $800!!!!! ...more info - Warped and Warped again
Out of the box the pan I had warped after the first use. If you have a glass top, or otherwise completely flat cooktop stay away from this pan.
I contacted Calphalon and was sent a replacement which took approx 2 months. When I received the replacement I put approx. 2 cups of water in it and began to heat it on medium high heat and had the same result. It had a terribly warped bottom and is what I would consider to be unusable
I do have other pieces of cookware from them that do not exhibit this behavior. I am again contacting Caphalon to replace the pan a second time however since I have had two pans now with the same problem I have little faith that a third replacement would be better. ...more info - Need strong arms
The handle on this is not the most ergonomic, your wrist bears a lot of the weight....more info
