- A life saver but will it hold up?
This product saved many hours of sleep for my son and for us. He started climbing out of his pack 'n play when he was one, and we still had many trips to take. This contains him, so he can focus his efforts on falling asleep rather than exploring. The only negative about it is that it won't hold up to hand down to more children. The rod pockets are already wearing through, and I've repaired a couple of holes in the mesh....more info
- Keeps my infant safe from my toddler!
My first son was 15 months when my second son was born, and the biggest problem we had (and are still having one month later...) is keeping the little one safe from the big one, who has a tendency to whack, poke, and pinch. Putting the little baby in a playpen wasn't enough because Number One likes to drop toys over the side. This tent is the solution! I have two playpens now, one in the kitchen/dining area by the front door, and one in the family room. I got one of these tents for each of them. The little baby spends a lot of time in the playpens because there is no other safe place to put him down. When I come in the house from the car, I can just pop the entire infant seat (a Snugride) into the playpen and zip it up so I can deal with the toddler first. My playpens are a Graco Pack n' Play and a Safety First equivalent. I'm using them without the bassinet or changing table features. One of my tents is a few years old because it came from eBay, and it seems to be a little larger than the new one I bought. However, it's possible that the tent is just tighter on the Safety First playpen because I haven't switched them to check that possibility. I can still zip it and get the carseat in and out so it's not a problem. Also, when my husband was setting up the one I got from eBay, he got a bunch of tiny splinters from the fiberglass rods. We had no problem with the second (new) one, and once the thing is set up the rods are enclosed within pockets so we are not worried about further splinters. ...more info
- Excellent idea, worked well for about 4 months....
but it is definitely NOT durable. For [the price], I expected it to be a little more durable. I was very happy with it, it wasn't that hard to assemble and it stayed very tight around the play yard. However, four months later, the zipper has broken, one of the sleeves that the rods go in has a hole, not keeping the rod in correctly, and the little clips that hold it on the sides of the play yard break VERY easily (No wonder they give you 4 extra ones).
If I had purchased it only for keeping it on the playpen, it MIGHT have been worth it, but I took it on and off alot, to use it as the tent as well (as it is advertised). In my opinion, it is definitely not worth [the money]. I am now just going to use the canopy that came with the play yard....more info
- WORKED FOR OUR 18 MONTH OLD ACROBAT
AFTER 2 NIGHTS OF NO SLEEP BECAUSE OUR 18 MONTHS OLD SON FIGURED OUT HOW TO FLIP HIMSELF OUT OF THE PACK N PLAY (WITH JUST SHEER UPPER BODY STRENGTH!)I WAS SO RELIEVED TO FIND THIS CRIB TENT AND IT WAS A PAIN TO PUT TOGETHER (IT TOOK ABOUT 20 MINUTES) BUT WELL WORTH IT BECAUSE IT WORKS...HE HAS STAYED IN THE PACK N PLAY AND DIDN'T SEEM TO CARE AT ALL THAT HE WAS "TRAPPED", I THINK KIDS DO LIKE THE PLAYFULNESS OF A TENT. MY 4 YEAR OLD WAS JEALOUS! THERE ARE A FEW DOWNSIDES...ITS A PAIN TO SET UP AND BREAK DOWN AND IF YOUR USING THE PACK N PLAY FOR OVER NIGHTS AND TRAVEL IT ISN'T AS PORTABLE AS COULD BE...AND I HAVE AN OLDER PACK N PLAY, ITS FROM '02 WHEN WE HAD OUR FIRST BABY SO THE ENDS ARE HIGHER THAN THE SIDES SO THE CLIPS HAVE NO WHERE TO CLIP ONTO BUT IT HASN'T MATTERED. THE SIDE CLIPS HAVE BEEN ENOUGH TO KEEP OUR STRONG TODDLER IN PLACE. OVERALL THE PRODUCT IS EXPENSIVE AND A PAIN TO SET UP BUT PRICELESS BECAUSE IT LETS THE WHOLE FAMILY SLEEP SOUNDLY AND SAFELY! ...more info
- DONT BUY!
First of all it costs $... So you can almost buy a whole new play yard with that. Then you cant get it together. I had me and another girl trying for about an hour when we went and found a guy at a near by camp site. Then he coldn't get together. After asking 3 other guys we only had about 1/2 of it up. I finally gave up and went home. I was miserable. Then, I had to take it down. I couldn't get it down, and had to go find someone else to help with that. I am taking it back! I never fill these out. But it was such a bad purchase I had to fill this out to tell you all DONT BUY IT!!!!...more info
- Works well for us
We have a 2-yr-old climbing daughter, and when we vacation, this saves us! We use a crib tent on her home crib, and when we traveled without this playard tent, getting her to stay in the playard for sleep was a nightmare! Upon discovering the existence of the playard tent, I promptly ordered it (rush delivery!) so we could use it on our next trip. It worked like a charm. We had a little difficulty attaching it to the playard the first time, but every time thereafter has been pretty easy. It doesn't feel particularly durable, but it does the trick.....keeping her in the playard. Our daughter stays in the playard and we get some sleep when we're away from home. Without it, I'm afraid we'd spend every vacation exhausted. Highly recommended....more info
- A few problems
We bought this playard tent after we found that my 1-year-old son could climb out of the playpen. We emphasized how much fun tents are to get him to like it. We used this on the beach to keep the mosquitoes away from him. This thing is made of gown material, it is hard to assemble, and some dogs on the beach can unzip this tent....more info
- My son could have died.
My son was getting out of his crib. I have to wait a week until I get the crib tent but found the pack n play tent at a store. I got it thinking I could use it at the pool and use it until I got the one for the crib a in week. With in one day my son could unclip the clips so he could climb out on what ever side he had unclipped or he would just unclip them all. One time when he did only unclip one side his head got stuck as he was trying to get out and he was just hanging there. Thank God I walked in when I did. I am very sad because I am a single mom and I do not sleep because he is getting out out bed all night long and will not take naps now. Maybe the one for the crib will work better. I just hope it does not have the clips and they use something else to hold it on. If anyone has used the one for the crib please let me know if they still use clips with that one as well. Thanks

- For a good nights sleep this is what you need!
My daughter began climbing out of her bed and unfortunately once she gets over she fell to the ground. I could not sleep at night because of this and after I ordered the tent all my worries are over. She became quite masterful of climbing and now she can't get out at all. The only problem with it as far as I can see is that it isn't something I'd want to constantly take on and off. I have when we were going out of town and experienced a small tear that did not affect the overall integrity of the tent. I now just keep all the rods in place and "fold" it flat and tuck it under the bed while traveling. But the benefits of the tent far outweigh these minor problems....more info
- NOT SAFE - Do not use this!
Please do not buy this product. On December 27th, a 2 year old died due to this tent - see for yourself in the local Harvard newspaper (we read about it in Boston and were horrified because we used to use the same tent).
The plastic clips do not safely adhere to the pack n play and your child could strangle him/herself between the bar and the netting.
Please, this story is so tragic, please do not use this product.
For the life of me I can not understand why it has not been recalled yet!...more info
- Hard to put together? Pfft!
Before I got this item, I was reading reviews and saw the major complaint being that it's difficult to put together. One reviewer said it took two adults over an hour to assemble.
I just got this today, and I (at 6-months pregnant) put it together myself in under 10 minutes - while watching a television show. I wasn't even paying all that close attention and I was still able to put it together. Oh, and my cats were "playing" with the equipment while I was working, making things more difficult. Perhaps the difference was I had a carpet and a couch on which to brace one end of the pole while I did the "push-pull" technique to gather excess material on my end to get my end of each pole into its respective pocket. If you have hardwood floors and no furniture, this may be difficult to get the tension without another person securing the other end.
Disassemble took less than 2 minutes, including putting everything back in their bags and into the box.
While I had this up, I had my cats climbing on it, in it, around it, and it seemed very sturdy.
Although I haven't put this on the play yard yet (my baby isn't yet born) I feel very strongly that this item is a very good one.
Don't let the fear of assembly keep you from buying this product. It's easy to assemble and disassemble.
The only thing I recommend is some sort of canvass tube/bag (a tent bag?) in which to store the parts when not in use, because the cardboard box doesn't seem like an adequate long-term storage solution....more info
- very cozy
If you have big (almost 20lbs) cats like mine who are always trying to sleep in the baby's bed, you need this tent! We spent several months trying to construct something to keep the cats out of the baby's sleeping spaces, but we couldn't construct anything as convenient or attractive as this tent. My 6 month-old daughter doesn't seem to mind being "tented" (I think she kind of likes the cozy feel), and when she gets more adventurous the tent will keep her safely in bed. Expensive, yes, but well worth the money in my opinion....more info
- Toodler Not Staying In Bed
We were expecting our second baby when we decided to put our 2 year old in a big boy bed. This became a huge hassle every night as he would get out of bed and play all night instead of sleeping. After two months of trying every tactic to get him to stay in bed and our baby soon coming we decided try something different. I surfed the net and found this tent, we already had the Greco playpen and I thought this might work. We all needed our sleep and what we were trying was not working so we after reading all the reviews we decided to give the tent a try. OH MY GOSH!!!! We set up his playpen and put the tent on (inserting the poles was a little difficult) and after 20 minutes of crying our 2 year old was fast asleep. He only cried (threw a huge fit) the first night for 20 minutes but was fine every night after that. Then if we left it open he requested that we zip it up or if we tried the big boy bed again he would climb back into is playpen. We did have a time when our little Houdini figured out how to take the clips off then we just used zip ties to secure it on the playpen no more escapes. Friends would say are you worried that he will never get used to a big boy bed and I would say no. He is only 2 now if he is 5 and still not sleeping in a bed then I might start to worry. He is now almost three and sleeping in his big boy bed with no problems. This tent was a life saver for us and well worth the money. As one of my friends said work smarter not harder. This worked smarter!!!!...more info
Well, we ordered this for a trip and it's "delayed" even though it says it's in stock. We got a vauge email that says "delayed" but no promise of delivery.... don't order it from Amazon if you're exhausted chasing an escaping baby! Go to a local store and purchase it........waiting.......waiting.......waiting..........more info
- peace of mind
Great for keeping the exploring tot safe; such peace of mind. However, never let it substitute for adult supervision.
Well worth the investment....more info
- Adequate, but Graco should make their own version!
We looked everywhere for a solution to keeping our two cats out of the baby's Graco pack n' play bassinet. The Tots in Mind Playard Tent appears to be the only item on the market that fits this need. We put the tent together last night with little difficulty. I was worried about the material quality issues that others have mentioned in their reviews, but was quite pleased with the components and the finished product. We had no issues with snagged mesh, splintered rods or ripped pocket seams. The zipper is adequate.
Our problems with the Playard Tent is the same that others have mentioned. The clips are not large enough to fit over the Graco clip on bassinet feature. The height of the tent does not allow for the mobile to be used. The curved ends of the pack n' play model will not accommodate the tent clips. We're thinking of returning the pack n' play model we have for a more basic version with square ends and no mobile. At least then the tent will securely clip to the two end sides.
I really wish the industry's leading playard manufacturer, Graco, would come up with their own branded tent solution. Pets have become an integral part of a family's home. There is a huge market for keeping baby and pets safe.
