  • step by step xp
The STEP BY STEP XP book has been very helpful and was received in good condition.
I would like to have known ahead of time that the tutorial disc would not fit on my HP laptop ( which I recently purchased. Am wondering why the discs are not made to be compatible with all computers.)
This of course is not the vendor's fault or Amazon's fault.
However, I will think twice before purchasing this kind of item again.
So far my experience in purchasing from Amazon has been good.
It's a great way to buy books and possibly other things.
    Thank you....more info
  • Windows Vista
The book offers a wide range of topics and the CD that comes with it makes it a good deal. Offering a mental picture of the task that one is attempting, it lacks technical detail to fully understand the process. [...]...more info
  • Vista Tutoring
This book is a good guide to the Vista operating system for someone with only a smattering of knowledge about the subject. It's clearly written in a rational manner, so I liked it a lot. Expect an occasional exasperating experience when you find the Vista coding has been changed since the book was written. I had to keep reminding myself that the atrocious features of the Vista system are not the fault of the book--it only reports what the system is doing....more info
  • Should have come with the OS
Each generation of Windows just gets more and more complicated. I'm using a preinstalled Home Premium Edition that came with my Dell PC and it doesn't even have a printed manual.

I go gack to Windows 3.1 and, frankly, I wish that Microsoft would either cut out some of the "features" or provide a useful manual explaining how they work.

While I didn't need this book to get up and running, it did help me to fine tune my system and, for that alone, it's worth the price....more info
  • step by step Windows Vista
Not helpful . Did better just clicking keys and navagaiting through my new Windows Vista program myself ....more info
  • Simple Upgrade
I am well pleased with Step by Step. Moving from Windows 98 to Vista is a traumatic experience for me, I needed some help and found it....more info
  • Microsoft Windows Vista Step by Step
Although initially intimidated about getting started with Vista, my fears eased as I got further and further into this very easy to understand guide. My confidence increased as I worked through the exercises on the CD. Joan Preppernau's style is friendly and approachable. She was always one step ahead of me in anticipation of the questions I had. If you have Vista, this book is a "must have."...more info
  • Great Tech Help
This is a good book and very helpful. Windows Vista is almost like learning the computer all over again and this book was very helpful...more info
  • Useful book
If you are new to Vista this is a must have book. Vista is super user friendly but is different from XP. The auto backup system is totally new and is covered in the book... Even if you are good with XP it is best not try to wing it with Vista.. Too many "gotchas" in Vista....

Book is well written for beginners and experts alike.. ...more info
  • didn't work
The disk that came with the book didn't work on my Lenovo laptop running Vista. So, the book was useless for me....more info
