3/9: Forbot-AB Worm Uses Network Shares
March 9, 2005

Worm_Forbot.AB spreads through network shares. It searches for and lists down available network shares, where it then attempts to drop a copy of itself. It also generates IP addresses, and attempts to drop a copy of itself to a default share of a target address.

It also attempts to access systems with weak passwords, and then drops a copy of itself on successfully accessed machines.

This worm has backdoor capabilities, and may execute commands coming from a remote malicious user. It also terminates processes associated with antivirus and security applications.

Technical details can be found at Trend Micro page.
