11/10: Mydoom-AE Worm Links to Servers
November 10, 2004

Mydoom.AE is a worm that opens the port 6667 and attempts to connect to several IRC servers. In order to spread to other computers, Mydoom.AE opens the port 1639 and makes the affected computer act as an HTTP server. Then, it sends e-mail messages to different e-mail addresses it compounds.

These e-mail messages contain a link to a file that is stored in the affected computer, and which contains the exploit IFRAME.BoF. If the remote computer is vulnerable to this exploit, Mydoom.AE is downloaded and run automatically, without user intervention.

Technical details can be found at Panda Software page.
