Vintage Motorcycle Days 2005 ¨C AMA's Toast to Ducati Motorcycles
 

This year marks American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) Vintage Motorcycle Days' 11th annual event. This year's AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days is to be held on July 15 ¨C 17, 2005 and will be toasting the Ducati Motorcycles. According to AMA, Ducati will be the "Featured Marque" at the said event to be held at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio.

April 1, 2005 -- The 'Featured Marque' is a distinction to motorcycles who have dominated other motorcycle models and brands in style, performance and practicability/ Motorcycles previously honored with the Featured Marque distinction include BSA, Honda, Norton, Penton, Vincent, Indian, Spanish motorcycles, Harley-Davidson and, most recently, BMW.

As a toast of esteem to the famed Italian marque, AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days 2005 is to be a celebration and will benefit the Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum. It will also feature an exhibit of classic motorcycles and memorabilia.

AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days 2005 will also feature three vintage bike shows. These are the traditional all-brands; AMA Swapmeet, and; North America's largest. Demonstration rides will be offered by Ducati, Buell, and Harley-Davidson. Vendors will be parading their featured new products from top manufacturers and dealers. Another main attraction of the AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days 2005 will also have the annual Motorcycle Hall of Fame Auction of motorcycles and memorabilia. Motocross legends will also reunite in conjunction with the Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum's upcoming "Motocross America" exhibit. And as if this is not enough, the "Team Extreme" Trials Showcase of Tommi Ahvala will have a return feature at the event.

As was done before other Vintage Motorcycle Days events, the legendary Mid-Ohio circuit to be held will still host the American Historic Motorcycle Racing Association (AHRMA) roadracing throughout the weekend. Aside from the two days of AHRMA motocross, observed trials and dirt-track racing are also scheduled. On the whole, it is expected that more than 1,500 competitors will take part in the AHRMA racing events.

Known people are also expected to be present on the AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days 2005. Guest speakers include designer Craig Vetter. Paul Smart, the winner of the 200 Miles of Imola aboard a Ducati in 1972 is to be appointed as the "Grand Marshal" of AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days 2005. Special guests are also expected and as a further salutation to Ducati, the World Stunt-Riding Champion Christian Pfeiffer will be performing on his Ducati throughout the event.
