Inspecting for problems and worn parts under the chassis of a car was never
one of the more fun tasks of performing your own auto maintenance. Rust and dirt
never seem to add much to the facial complexion, nor does it help to “get the
red out” when it gets in your eyes. The X10 XCam2 video camera, however, can do
this without blinking!

I set up the camera on the Ninja Pan & Tilt
base, along with a light source, so that the camera could be positioned with the
remote control.

I used a handheld portable TV, hooking the
camera receiver’s video output to the TV’s video input jack. The focus of the
camera may need to be tweaked a little due to the close range.

Here, this setup is used to check for damaged
rubber boots on the CV joints of a front-wheel drive car.
