Portable Videoscope reaches difficult locations

New Portable Videoscope from Lenox Instrument Provides Reliable, Easy Inspection of Hard-to-Reach Areas

Trevose, PA, October 2002 - Lenox Instrument Company has introduced its new Portable Videoscope, a truly self-contained and portable inspection device for use in hard-to-reach locations. It is ideally suited to inspect for erosion, corrosion, weld quality, surface wear or security inspection. Operators can view what is being inspected using a hand-held color display.

The standard Portable Videoscope includes a 26mm CCD camera (about 1-inch dia.) with a light source and is attached to a 60-ft cable (150-foot cable available) that is flexible enough to be wound on a 20-inch reel, but rigid enough to push the camera through an opening. The standard head can be easily interchanged with an optional pan/tilt camera (2" dia. - great for larger cavities) which features built-in lighting and full hemispherical scan (full 360¡ã pan; 180¡ã tilt). The pan/tilt camera is operator-controlled by a joystick mounted on the handheld display.

The entire unit - display, cord, carrier and camera - can be transported in a typical backpack or courier bag and weighs less than 10 pounds. The handheld viewing unit features a full-color LCD display and allows for two hours of continuous use (rechargeable NiCd battery).

The standard fixed-head unit is fully submersible; the pan/tilt head is splash-proof. Either camera head can be fitted with a "roller-skate" device to aid in horizontal inspection needs (such as the underside of cars, large pipes and vessels). Extra lighting fixtures/housings and camera guides are also available.

The portable videoscope is an ideal, handy inspection device for use in chemical plants, oil refineries, foundries, pharmaceutical companies, power utilities, aircraft fuselage inspection and a range of other industries/applications. Likely users of the unit also include government agencies for security/safety inspection purposes.

The Lenox Portable Videoscope is priced at thousands of dollars less than comparable units currently on the market and features a 1-year warranty. Standard 60-foot system is priced at $3,995 each (vs. $15,000-plus for comparable units on the market). Individually replaceable components are available from stock or 2-weeks A.R.O.
