Average user reviews: Description:Memorex offers one of the fastest and smallest portable Flash devices with its USB 2.0 TravelDrive. Perfect for storing and transferring data, digital photos, video and MP3 files between home, office or school computers, the new Memorex Tra.Reviewed by: almoon from TX on Mar 8, 2005 Rating: Experience: 2 Days Strengths: Fast (USB 2.0), reliable, plenty of storage (1GB), incredible price Weaknesses: None Summary: Throw out the floppies, this is a must have for anyone using a computer with a USB port. Memorex makes a quality product, you cannot go wrong. The more memory the better. The 256MB version sells at major electronic stores for $50. This 1GB version is 4X the memory for the same price (online vendor had a $20 mail-in rebate). Reviewed by: doubloon from TX on Mar 8, 2005 Rating: Experience: 8 Months Strengths: reliable, fast and a built in write protect switch Weaknesses: the wide body form factor occasionally makes for difficult insertion in some crowded usb spaces Summary: I actually owned the 256MB Memorex drive first and for 8 months now, it still works great I just outgrew it. I expect the same reliablity form the 1GB drive which I've had for a few days. I transfer files around to multiple machines on a regular basis between Windows and UNIX operating systems. Both the 256MB and 1GB drives have worked flawlessly in all environments. The write protect switch gives me an added sense of security when I have to plug the drive into other systems or let people borrow the drive to retrieve files. Although the chain attaches to the cover and not the drive itself, I have carried my 256MB drive on my car key ring for 8 months now and it has never accidentally detached itself. I also like the ability to loan out only the drive and keep the rest of the stuff attached to the cap. The cap still snaps securely in place and I am not at all concerned about losing the drive. The silver finish on my 256MB drive is scratched and beat up but the drive itself still works great. My experience with the 256MB Memorex drive convinced me to buy the 1GB model. When the 2GB model becomes more affordable I'm sure I'll upgrade again. Reviewed by: tiwang80 from CT on Mar 28, 2005 Rating: Experience: 3 Weeks Strengths: large storgage capacity; low price Weaknesses: none Summary: The 1GB USB drive has a sizeable storage capacity, which makes it very versatile to transport large and small files. This device is very small, light-weight, and portable. Its shape is just like that shown on the package. It has a circular bulge in the middle of the stick, which makes it less slender than some of the other models. But that has no effect on functionality. Reviewed by: cindy0586 from CA on Mar 24, 2005 Rating: Experience: 7 Days Strengths: Small but durable Weaknesses: None Summary: Very good price after rebate. This flash drive is so small and light-weighted and easy to carry to anywhere you want! I have no problem in using this unit. Love it! Reviewed by: samlucy from FL on Mar 22, 2005 Rating: Experience: 2 Days Strengths: 2 gigabyte Weaknesses: NA Summary: this was a good buy for the money but after i bought it i went on fatwallet and amazon had it for 42.00. considering how big the bytes are it still is a good deal. there are two rebates...one from memorex and one from pricegrabber Reviewed by: thisisanish from TX on Mar 18, 2005 Rating: Experience: 1 Days Strengths: Robust Extra storage:1 GB Weaknesses: NA Summary: This is a convenient flash drive especially for people who are on the road. Convenient to carry presentations, audio and video files and contracts. Convenient for transferring files between systems that are not networked. Reviewed by: chaperon from MI on Mar 16, 2005 Rating: Experience: 5 Days Strengths: Compact size; Capacity for the price; the unique shape; the rubber grip on the handle Weaknesses: none Summary: I recently purchased the Memorex High Speed Travel Drive, 1GB and am very pleased with the purchase. The price is less than other brands of equal capacity and it works equally well. The unique shape is a bonus, making it stand out from a pack of gum or an eraser. I also like the grip. This is well worth the purchase. Reviewed by: LeoAM1 from CA on Oct 6, 2004 Rating: Experience: 3 Days Strengths: Don't need drivers to use it in WinXP or Win2K. Didn't try on WinME but packaging said it works on ME. You can download a driver for Win98SE. 1GB or space! Biger than a CD! USB 2 & 1.1. Light weight. Weaknesses: None. Just don't loose it as is is small and light weight. Summary: It works exacly as claimed. I like how it looks and is very light weight. You can atach it to a keychain or wear it with the included band. The protective cap that covers the USB port detaches easaly. The cap is the part that ataches to the band or your keychain wring. This alows easy removal from your keychain to use your flash drive. I cary pictures, some work files, and my Resume ready on my drive. I also have some music files and some "shareware" instalation software on it that I can share with friends. Reviewed by: rcjorgensen from NJ on Oct 18, 2004 Rating: Experience: 2 Days Strengths: Easy to use, fast, clear driver download instructions Weaknesses: It would have been nice to have Windows 98SE drivers packed with the unit. Summary: I am very satisfied with the performance of this TravelDrive. It provides tremendous storage space in a small, convenient package. Even though the included instructions were explicit, and made it very straight forward to download Windows 98 drivers, it would have been convenient to have the driver included in the product package. Reviewed by: kelvin9e from NV on Dec 15, 2004 Rating: Experience: 18 Days Strengths: Lite and comes with the "necklace" Support USB 2.0 Weaknesses: I don't see any weeknesses so far Summary: I think this it the best USB Drive in the market. It is called a USB Thumb drive, and it is so true, it's just about the same size of my thumb. The design is very unique. There is a Lock/Unlock Key on the top side of the drive. Here is the Dimensions: 2.7" x 1.22" x 0.39" and the weight is only 0.46oz. (lighter than your thumb!!!) 1GB of size is good enough for me to store. It is more than a regular CD-R size (750MB). And best of all, I got this drive in Office Depot only 49.99 after rebate! Reviewed by: czwmlx from MO on Nov 15, 2004 Rating: Experience: Strengths: It's very light weight, has incredible space and is very chic. I could also wear it around the neck as a necklace. Weaknesses: NA Summary: (Edited November 15th by czwmlx) The drive was overall very satisfying. It was everything advertised for. I feel like I made a wise purchase in buying this product. Highly recommended for anyone needing extra file space. Reviewed by: sbarrios on Mar 2, 2005 Rating: Experience: 2 Days Strengths: small, fast, cheap, Weaknesses: make sure you have a usb port in the back (of desktop) or side (of laptop) as the unique shape makes it hard to get it into the usb on the front of my dell. Summary: This is a great product. it is my first flash drive and you can not beat the price from bananapc.com. it arrived the day after I ordered it, (ground free shipping). you just plug it into xp and go. downloaded 300 mb in about 3 5 minutes. maybe that is not fast, I don't know much about this, but it is fast enough for the $50 (net) I paid. Reviewed by: klaudanski from NY on Feb 4, 2005 Rating: Experience: 2 Days Strengths: It is very big drive in very convinient size both in terms if storage and physical size. It is sleek and fits anywhere. The transfer seems to be faster than in my previous jump drive (USB 2.0). Weaknesses: None Summary: I was afraid the shape of the drive will cause some problems when plugged in vertical position in my laptop but it is sleek enough to fit into my computer without much problem. It is great buy. Reviewed by: purplereign58 from CA on Jan 28, 2005 Rating: Experience: 7 Days Strengths: very easy to use - plug and play. downloadable drivers from website for other windows platforms. Specs indicate for use on Win98Se and above. I was able to install drivers from website and use on Win9 Weaknesses: protection chain should be attachable to usb drive itself, rather than cover. I'm afraid to lose the drive, but not so heartbroken to lose the cover. Summary: The manufacturer Specs indicate for use on Win98Se and above. I was able to install drivers from website and use on Win98 also. The drive functions just as well on a Windows98 platform as it does on the Windows XP. I suffer no data loss when switching files between the two windows versions, for this I am pleased. Reviewed by: stevemo777 from MT on Jan 17, 2005 Rating: Experience: 1 Days Strengths: very small and compact, extremely fast data transfer, fulfills all my needs Weaknesses: none yet Summary: This is my first purchase of a portable storage device.
