So far, I am very satisfied with the quality of the camera. ( even the included EF-S lens quality is surprisingly good) The XT is very easy to use. The little packet guide is handy. It didn't take me long to learn most of the features. Pictures quality is great. I also bought the Canon EF 70-200 f/4.0 L USM lens. Together, they really deliver high quality pictures. The size and weight of the camera is another reason attract me. I feel very comfortable holding the camera( I have tried Canon 20D and Nikon D70, they both are good DSLR but I don't feel the same comforts as XT, probably due to my small hand) I have not played with the photo studio software that came with the camera. Hopefully, it is as easy as using XT. Reviewed by: hagowsuimai from NY on May 5, 2005 Rating: Experience: 20 Days Strengths: Ultra compact for an SLR, Superb quality pictures, Price, It's a CANON what else can I say Weaknesses: Maybe a little to small, plastic body, lenses overwhelm the body of the camera. Summary: This is my first SLR and I've been shopping for awhile I got for a little over $809 shipped. Not a bad price for such a great camera. I have a one year old at home and the point and shoots just aren't fast enough to catch your little ones while they're moving. The Rebel XT is right on the money for someone's who appreciates fine pictures of your loved ones and at a cost of a few hundred more than a high end point and shoot. I looked at the 20 D and it was also an awesome camera but couldn't justify spending the extra $300 until I learn how to use all the functionality of the Rebel XT ( this should take some time, maybe even years ). I've held the 10D and the Mark II 1d and the Rebel XT is a midget compared to those cameras. All in all I'm completely satisfied with the quality of the photos and the size although I may run into problems when I purchase bigger lenses but for now this is the best toy I've owned for the last few years and I'm a hard core techie so that's really means something. Hope this helps feel free to comment on my review. Thanks Reviewed by: xiaowei from IL on May 2, 2005 Rating: Experience: 7 Days Strengths: Good image quality. Small and light yet solid. Weaknesses: small view finder, dimmed menu Summary: The image quality is very good. From my research, the image quality should be as good as D20. With the kit lens, the auto focus is fast and accurate, even under lower light. Along with the 0.2 second startup, you won't miss any photo moment. The burst mode can shoot 3 frames per second. In my test, it captured 24 shots before slowing down. The battery life is good too. I'm still on my first charge after a few hundred shots with many on flash. The true USB2 is nice, I don't have to take the CF out to transfer large amount of pictures. One thing Canon may fix with firmware is that the menu items are dimmed when they are not active. It makes them difficult to see under bright light. Once you get familiar with the menus, it won't be too bad. Reviewed by: jmazzeo from NY on Mar 21, 2005 Rating: Experience: 2 Days Strengths: Easy to use for beginners and all of the manual features of professional SLR cameras for the pros. High resolution camera that provides crisp images. Weaknesses: One of the cheapest digital SLR cameras, but still a bit expensive for most consumers. Summary: The Rebel XT offers a range of functions from fully automatic to manual control over all aspects of the camera. I am a fan of SLR film cameras for their manual settings, but love digital's instant gratification and ease. This camera seamlessly combines the best of both worlds at a reasonable price. I would recommend this camera for those who love photography and want a camera that can be easy to use and continue to satisfy their needs as their skills grow. Reviewed by: alcohenusa from AZ on May 9, 2005 Rating: Experience: 4 Days Strengths: Easy to use, smaller than previous model, compatible with other/older Canon lenses. Weaknesses: A little heavier than I'd like. Summary: This camera takes great pictures and was easy to set up and use right out of the box. While there is an extensive manual that comes with it, the camera is easy to figure out. Since I had older lenses from a 35mm Rebel, I had everything I needed to take closeups and all types of pictures without having to invest in new attachments/lenses, etc. Overall, I highly recommend this camera. I originally purchased the 20D but I found it a bit too big for my taste. The Digital Rebel XT is small and compact and perfect for my wife and I. Although small, the battery can easily shoot 230 shots in a single charge (20% using flash). I highly recommend this camera it's perfect for amateur photographers. This is an excellent upgrade from my previous Canon G2. If you are newWhat an amazing small compact SLR camera! I originally purchased the 20D but I found it a bit too big for my taste.
