Product Description

Junie B. Jones and all of Room 9 are getting ready to graduate from kindergarten! Their teacher--known to our heroine as "Mrs."--distributes their fresh white caps and gowns ("Cats and gowns, cats and gowns!" Junie hollers), and makes her students promise to keep them in their boxes until the big day. But Junie B., being Junie B., is sure that just one peek on the way home won't soil her gown. And then she must show off to her stuffed animals with a lot of whirling and skipping, which of course makes her thirsty. But guess what? "Grape juice can go wrong."

The 17th title in Barbara Park's popular Junie B. Jones beginning chapter book series is filled with more messy antics from the irrepressible 6-year-old with the rather unusual speaking style. She may be trouble, but Junie B. Jones has definite six-appeal. Don't miss any of the titles in this lively series, from Junie B. Jones Has a Peep in Her Pocket to Junie B. Jones and Some Sneaky Peeky Spying to Junie B. Jones Is Captain Field Day. Denise Brunkus's witty drawings deftly capture the tragicomedies of kindergarten life. Although the cute-precocious style may eventually grate on grownups' nerves, kids won't tire of Junie B.'s everyday adventures. (Ages 5 to 8) --Emilie Coulter

It's kindergarten graduation!

All the children in Room Nine are excited when they get their bright white graduation gowns. Mrs. says to keep them in their boxes until the big day. But Junie B. Jones just can't help herself. Then—uh-oh!—an accident happens! Can Junie B. find a way to fix things? Or will graduation be a spotty dotty disaster?

  • Be proactive: Start your own AR shelf....
Once I started our own collection of titles that are used in the Accelerated Reader program, my kids' excuses for not doing assigned reading all but evaporated. Prior, it was "I forgot my book" "I have to turn in my old book and get a new one" and a thousand variations. Now, my kids can pick one of any number of titles I have on hand already

Most "Junie B. Jones" books are part of the Accelerated Reader/AR program. This one is rated at Reading Level 3.0 and 1.0 points, so not only is little Junie B. Jones fun to read, she can help your child succeed in school....more info
  • Young Girls will love this story
My daughter is in Kindergarten and was absolutely riveted by this story. The storyline is interesting and easy to follow and I think that any girl age 5 or 6 would love to listen to a story about graduating from Kindergarten.

Junie B. Jones books are easy to read but not so short so they are done in an hour. A few chapters a night and in 3 nights, the story is done.

I highly recommend this book, and all the others in the collection. These are not "baby books" but excellent stories that a reader can enjoy along with the listener....more info
  • Another Enjoyable Junie B Book
My [...] daughter loves Junie B books and this one was no exception. Kids really relate to Junie B and this story will keep a young child interested enough to read the book without being overwhelming. I've heard complaints (even one from a first grade teacher) about this series because the heroine Junie B has a few bad habits and her grammer is less than perfect. But those shortcomings are so obvious (even to a 6 year old) that the worry that a child will pick up those habits is just ridiculous. Kids laugh with Junie B because they see how silly she is and they root for her as well because they see her getting away with things that they know they never will or should get away with. Don't we adults do the very same thing?

My daughter has read about fourteen of these books so far and has not picked up one bad habit - well actually she has - she asks to stay up late to read! ...more info

  • No so funny...
This one isn't as funny as the other ones. It didn't make me laugh. Junie B. is spoiled and a bad influence to little kids (it's not the grammmer) she just gets her own way. And my little brother's and I, don't like it. Junie B. is loosing her spunk, especially in 1st grade!...more info

My 8 year old grandson requested this book for Christmas. I was hesitant to buy it for him because I thought this was a "girl's" book. My daughter is a 1st grade teacher and told me the Junie B. Jones books appeal to both genders. She was right....my grandson loved it!...more info
  • Junie B. Jones Is a Graduation Girl
I have read every Junie B. book except the two newest ones, and I bought this one at a school book fair.
The next paragraph tells a lot about this book, so if you don't want to know what happens in the end, skip the rest of this review.
In the book, Junie B.'s class is about to graduate. They made up a poem for graduation day, and Paulie Allen Puffer gets in trouble for making up a silly poem. Then Junie B. thinks of one, and shouts it out to the class. She gets sent to the office, where the principal thinks her poem is funny. When Junie B. returns to class, Lucille tells her about "cats and gowns." It's actually caps and gowns, and Mrs. passes them out to the class, but tells them not to play in them. When Junie B. gets home, her mother puts the box on top of the fridge. The next day her grandpa baby sits for her and gives her the box. Junie B. takes it to her room and spills grape juice on it. She tries to erase it, color over it with a white marker, and even brush it with whitening toothpaste, but the purple spots are still there, so Junie B. colors purple polka dots all over her gown. The night Junie B. is graduating, Lucille grabs Junie B.'s dress and shows it to the whole class. Mrs. talks to Junie B. in the hall, and when she goes back to class her friends have all colored spots on their gowns!
All Junie B. Jones books are funny. Junie B. is always in trouble and doesn't talk very well, since she is only five years old.
I still read this book, but it's really short for older kids. I can finish these in about half an hour, but younger children will take longer to read them.
This is book 17 in the Junie B. Jones series written by Barbara Park....more info
  • Junie B Jones is a Graduation Girl (#17)
Junie B. Jones gets her dress and hat for graduation day, and she is supposed to keep it in the box on the refridgerator, but then she gets it down and spills grape juice on it! When I first read it, I was kind of surprised that Junie B. won't be in kindergarten anymore. But this is not the last book! The next book she is in first grade! I have all these books, but I lost one. I noticed that when you buy these from a bookstore, they have the number on the side, but if you order them at school, you can't tell which number it is. I did get mine at the book fair at school, and it has the number on the side, but if you buy them from the book order papers, they don't have the number. Junie B. Jones is a Graduation Girl is funny. It is kind of short, though....more info

  • When good grape juice goes wrong!
America's favorite spunky kindergartener is about to become America's favorite spunky first grader! Graduation day is about to be here, and Mrs. hands out beautiful white graduation gowns with the understanding that they must not be taken out of the boxes 'till graduation day to be sure they are kept clean.

Now, remember... we are talking about Junie B. Jones! What do you think happens? In short order, that gown will be a colorful purple and white. Of course, Junie knows how to solve her problems -- in typical Junie fashion.

Barbara Park has created another winner here, and your young reader will be thirsty for more, more, more Junie B. Jones!...more info

  • Junie B.'s Great!
I loved this book. I am a kindergarten teacher, and I saw so many things in this story that made me think of my students! Junie B.'s observations and comments on everyday life are so honest and funny. I think that Mrs. has a lot to think about and laugh about at the end of every teaching day. And, I'm also happy that Junie B.'s "vocavulary" is improving, because I'm sure it will lead to even more wonderful misunderstandings!...more info
  • Terrible Series
I can't imagine more inappropriate reading for a 5-8 year old. These books are loaded with poor grammar, individual words that are too advanced and, on top of that, they encourage bad behavior. Avoid this series....more info
