- So far, so good!
So far Ive been very happy with this computer. It does everything I expect it to do....more info
The ASUS Eee works great. I knew it would not run secure WPA-2PSK wireless before the purchase. My son uses it for classroom notetaking in college. He can easily type 80 wpm+ using the 92% footprint board. With the extended battery life, it's definitely a keeper. ...more info
- Products Great, Amazon Security Sucks

- Nice computer
This was my first netbook computer and it has been really nice so far. I've had it 2 weeks and I've been quite happy with how quickly it boots up and shuts down. I find that typing isn't so difficult even with a slightly smaller keyboard. Overall, I would recommend this to someone looking for a netbook....more info
- Great machine
I've had my Asus for a few weeks, and so far, it's been perfect for my needs. I have a desktop PC for heavy-duty work (long stretches of word processing, graphics stuff, etc.), but needed something portable and inexpensive. The keyboard on this model is a great size--I thought I would have trouble, but very rarely mistype. I've been using the netbook for note-taking, some paper writing (I'm a graduate student), internet and watching streaming video. Very attractive computer, good battery life, good value. I highly recommend it. ...more info
- Fits The Bill
I purchased the Asus Eee 1000HA back in December of 2008 and absolutely love it! The shift key is a little lower, but that is not a major factor. So far I have not had a problem with this netbook. It is great for traveling and that's what I purchased it for. I got what I paid for. The netbook is not a laptop. If you want a laptop, get a laptop, but if you are looking for something to get online to do a little surfing or check email when traveling, this is the one for you. The only thing I would recommend is to purchase a external cd/dvd drive, if you need that accessory. But if I need that I can use my laptop. The Asus Eee 1000HA fits the bill....more info
- The bigger version of the original ASUS netbook
Bigger and heavier than my original ASUS netbook but has the additional memory that lets me download my normal work programs and can be used as a normal machine (bigger keyboard) if I need to do some writing. ...more info
- Love my netbook
I know very little about computers and fins this one very easy to use. It is very light and easy to take everywhere. It automatically signs on to the internet in Wii Fi zones, and is very fast. I recive many compliments on how cute my computer, it is really a good looking model. It is so light, I take it everywhere, and I love the webcab. I am a Pilates instructor and I make short video's of exercises to send my clents. ...more info
- Great but the shift key IS annoying
I love the size and speed of the computer. The ONLY downside is the shift key, its hard to get used to. ...more info
- The Triple "E"
I guess I could consider myself somewhat of a pioneer of the netbook. My first one was the ASUS Surf. It has a 7 inch screen, 512 MB of memory, media card slot, 802.11 G. WiFi, 2 GB solid-state drive with a modified ASUS LinuxOS installed. The OS takes up about three quarters of the solid-state drive so you're very limited to what you can install. Usually after going online, I would have to delete the cache from the browser. As for e-mails, I would read them, reply to, and then delete them.
Now a few years later a ASUS comes out with the 1000 AH. This little wonder comes with a 10 inch screen, one gig of memory, media card slot, 802.11 G. WiFi, 160 GB hard drive installed with Windows XP Home. It even comes with a soft padded case that you can stuff with foam instead of the computer and use it as a pillow. ;-)
The netbooks have come a long way and this one proves it. It is so convenient to use around the house I can't imagine ever being without it anymore. It definitely doesn't have the capabilities of a gaming machine but for what it can do it is unbeatable. I even read an article in a computer magazine that they installed Photoshop on it and the results were pretty remarkable. There have been a lot of reviews on this little wonder so I'm sure I can't top any of them but felt it was necessary to write a review to tell you what a great little machine this is. I think one of the amazing things to me is that this little wonder outperforms some of the computers I had just a few years ago.
While I'm writing this review I would like to thank the other reviewers for telling us how to upgrade from 1 GB to 2 GB of memory and how to make Windows recognize the extra gigabyte. Thanks! :-)
One thing that concerned me in purchasing this is if the web browser would fit into the screen. It fits in there perfectly, just like it was a big monitor. Also, one reviewer mentioned that the buttons at the bottom of the touchpad were stiff. And they are. But not stiff enough that I would ever trade this for any other netbook.
In closing I will mention that I have in ASUS G1 gaming laptop that I bought a few years ago and given the chance I think this netbook would have been my first purchase rather than the G1. Granted it doesn't have the horsepower as the G1 but then again the G1 doesn't come with all the mobility and fun....more info
- Good buy
I wanted a small, light computer I could carry easily every day. I tried the Acer Aspire One AOA150-1447 8.9-Inch Netbook (1.6 GHz Intel Atom N270 Processor, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, XP Home, 6 Cell Battery) Sapphire Blue, but it had serious quality control issues, and I sent it back.
After that, I considered a Dell (too large, not enough battery life) and the Samsung (they were having screen problems at the time). That left me with the Asus.
The shift key is annoying, but easy to fix by installing AutoHotKey and swapping the keys (if you want the label on the key to match its function). No tools necessary; the keys pop out using fingers alone.
Also annoying is a bug with the battery monitoring system, which misreads the battery charge and shuts down the computer when there's still plenty of juice left. This is apparently a problem with the BIOS. When I started out, I had five or six hours of battery life, but after only a few weeks, I was down to 2 or 3. I knew the battery couldn't be wearing out that fast, so I Googled the problem.
And there was an easy solution. The answer is to turn off the critical battery warning. Yes, that means you have to keep track of battery life yourself, but it's well worth it for several hours more of computer use.
Other than that, I've been pretty happy with this machine. ...more info

Well worth the money! Could have a larger hard drive though. There's a 500 Gb drive that will work in this machine. Overall good purchase!...more info
- New redesigned keyboard for 1000 series only
Probably in response to the criticisms about the position of the right shift key, ASUS has replaced the keyboard on the 1000H series only. The new keyboard is a "chicklet" type, used by Apple and several others, and the right shift key is now in the desired position. The new model number is BLK-O26X, and no longer BLK-001X. I don't know if Amazon currently is selling the new model, but others are.
I do not find the 2 touchpad keys hard to push. They seem to require the same pressure as on my older Dell and newer Toshiba laptops. However, as mentioned in a previous review, the pressure to push forward with the thumb is easier than pushing down with a finger. That also may be something improved with the new keyboard design.
I have not upgraded to 2GB memory yet, because I'm not dissatisfied with the speed with 1GB. Also, I can barely hear the fan running. It is certainly much quieter than the fan in my Dell desktop.
I am very satisfied with the 1000HA; fortunately, I already owned an external CD/DVD USB drive to load software. Attempts to load several commercial programs from a network CD drive were unsuccessful because of built in security checks in the software....more info
- Sleek little computer
Nice little laptop, works well, we added some memory because it was a little slow on loading web pages. Keep in mind, small keyboard. Other than that, very happy with the purchase....more info
- Worthless tech support
I had this item for 1.5 days. It charged fine the first time and worked very well. I was happy with it for the price for sure. But then my power cord failed. I called tech support and they answered promptly with an almost working english accent. But they then wanted me to ship my power cord to them for repair. Forget that, I will RMA it back and get my money back. They could ship me a cord and have me ship the defective one back. How hard is it to troubleshoot a bad power cord??? Not very. ...more info
- what's all the hype about?
i'll skip the pros.
- screen resolution.
- right shift key, some may find it annoying.
- battery life is not even close to 7 hours, with neither XP, Vista, or Linux. With wireless on, bluetooth off, unnecessary ports, hardware, processes disabled, everything else optimized to the max i get 2.5-3hrs. possibly longer in sleep mode.
- super hybrid engine doesn't overclock or underclock much so not very helpful. There are other programs available for under/overclocking.
- heavy, bulky.
- it lags.
- noisy cpu fan. Had to rma mine four times in four months.
- this is my first ASUS notebook and unfortunately i have to add asus customer service to the list of cons. "3-4 days" turnaround time is actually "10 or more", and for me it's average 4 weeks at a time, so i don't get to see my eee often. I do get apologies, but can't do much computing with that.
- Great Business Travel Companion
I bought this little computer for use during travel. It was originally designed for kids but is a great business travel laptop. It fits into any standard brief case and does not add very much weight. The charger is also small and light and easily transported.
The only limitation is the lack of a DVD-ROM drive. In order to load programs you need to buy a USB DVD drive. I tried to use the hard drive from a desk top in sharing mode to load programs through an Ethernet connection but it would not work.
Once you load the programs you can add data through a flash drive or via a wireless connection. The wireless connection is good and the processor is fast. The screen is also bright and has adjustable resolution through a special tool bar located on the bottom of the screen.
The computer comes loaded with MS Windows XP Home which is a much better program than Vista. You can say good bye to expensive ultra portable laptops and buy one of these little guys and a USB DVD drive for under $400.00. I would highly recommend it for business users. ...more info
- Great little netbook

- Constipating Performance!!
I'm not quite a computer pro but a adept user. So far I have used this product for 2 month and found really annoying!!
1. Long battery life, more than 4 and half hour in most cases.
2. Easy to carry around
1. SUPER FINGER MAGNET, every touch can get your eee pc dirty, and the design is ugly.
2. LOUD FAN, it's really annoying and after weeks of use the fans just keeps spinning till you shut the system down.
3. Windows XP SP3, I have many software issues with SP3, and other language apart from English is not installed when first time boot.
4. Very low performance CPU and graphics, what can I say about it about a 350 bucks computer, it just sucks, it took me the whole day to convert rmvb to mp4 for my iPod touch. And running iTunes is like constipating!
5. My eyes start to hurt so much because of the screen, now i regret buying this.
I'll never buy netbook again.
I purchased this for my daughter and we both have been pleased with it. I plan to buy another for myself. She's not had any problems with it at all. I did purchase a 2gb ram stick to go with it and am pleased with that as well. ...more info
my bf got me this computer as present since i been using the computer i notice the battery life isn't long. i only got 4 hours of battery which sucked. ...more info
- This lil baby is perfect!
First off, this is one of the best amazon purchases (let alone computer purchases) I've made in awhile. I wanted a 3rd computer (I have a desktop and a laptop which crashed recently) to take when I travel or just to sit next to me in bed while I surf the net. I was a bit hesitant ordering online, but those fears quickly extingushed after playing around on my new HA netbook. I went to several electronic stores and tried a few out, but never saw this one until going online. I was on the fence between the dell 9 and this one...I now can say I am very pleased with the outcome of my decision.
Sure, the keypad is a bit small...it's supposed to be, its a mini-laptop. Even compared to others, it is still a bit larger. I also got used to it, in fact, I'm using it to type this review right now, it's perfect. I actually perfer it to the larger, heavier laptops.
I love the pearl white color...I chose white because I read other reviews on the darker netbooks that finger prints were a problem. I've had mine a week and still looks sparkling new. It runs great, very smooth, and very very quiet...something I've never experienced with other laptops.
As far as how it performs while playing games, I wouldn't know. I wanted this basically for typing and going online. It plays youtube videos very smoothly and has good sound. If I have a problem hearing anything, I just plug in my headphones.
Overall, I love my netbook and I highly recommend it. Haven't had one single problem thus far....more info
- Great 2nd Machine, but not perfect
After looking at quite a few other Netbooks I settled on this one because of the screen size and keyboard. The Netbooks with 9" screens are just too small.
It does everything I need it to, including video playback and light web surfing. The 160GB hard drive is nice to have as well.
While the keyboard is nice, touch typists (like myself) might have issues with the placement of the right shift key. I've been using this machine for over a month and I'm still not used to it. Also of note is the mouse, which can only be described as hyper sensitive without any way to adjust.
While I don't think this would be acceptable as a full time PC, it gets the job done if you don't have to do anything too processor/screen size intensive....more info
- Love my Eee
The keyboard is much more comfortable than the 8" netbooks, which must be made for spider monkeys. Love the 160 Gig hard drive, tons of space to save music and photos. Surfs the net a lot faster than most laptops. Card drive is very handy. Long battery life is the deciding factor. Only drawback is no internal dvd player/writer. Adding an external isn't bad though. ...more info
- It works
You need a DVD drive to install some things. I bought one but you might be able to borrow one to install software. It's a nice little machine and after I stuck 2 gig of ram in it, I'd say it is adaquate for buiness. ...more info
- LOVE MY ASUS!!!!!!!!
I have had my 10-Inch ASUS Netbook (Pearl White) for a little over a month now. I love it!! I read many many reviews before ordering. I learned a lot from the reviews. The only slight problem I had was inserting the 2GB Ram. I finally looked on YouTube and found a video that made me realize what I was doing wrong. The 2GB piece has to be inserted on a very slanted angle then snapped in. It took me about four tries before I got it right. Once I viewed the video it was a breeze. I am going to be changing out the right side shift key because it is annoying to me but other than that I am very very happy with it!...more info
