About the band - I have no word's - Buy it - see it - love it!!

  • Band is awesome but Vocals are lacking big time!!!!!!
This is a great DVD but unfortunately the Vocals are lacking big time. I put the DVD in and went right to my all time favorite song "Modern Day Cowboy" The band is killer but this is a case where the band needs to replace the lead singer with a sound alike from their glory days like Journey and Foreigner did.

I didn't even make it through the entire song before I turned it off....more info
  • TESLA STILL ROCKS!!!
TESLA IS STILL ONE OF THE PREMIER ROCK BANDS OF THIS GENERATION."COMIN' ATCHA LIVE 2008" IS A TRUE TESTAMENT OF WHAT ROCK & ROLL IS MEANT TO BE.A FRIEND BOUGHT ME THIS DVD THROUGH AMAZON AS A GIFT, & I WAS BLOWN AWAY BY HOW GOOD THEY STILL SOUND. I WAS A BIG FAN THROUGH THE 80'S & THEY STILL HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO ROCK HARD! NOT ONLY IS THE CONCERT GREAT COMING IN AT JUST OVER 2 HOURS, BUT THERE IS A BONUS HOUR OF EXTRAS. ONE OF THE BEST MOMENTS ON THIS DVD IS THE OUTTAKES, THE GUYS DOIN' A BLUES JAM BACK STAGE...REMINDED ME OF SOMTHIN'JIMI HENDRIX WOULD DO...ENOUGH SAID, 5 STARS!!!...more info
  • Tesla is still on top of their game!!
again, other reviewers have more eloquently reviewed this DVD, so I just wanna throw in my 2 cents and say this is excellent!! The production is top notch, the song selection is top notch, the energy is vibrant...what can I say!

The only thing I regret is that I couldn't be there at the concert!

Honestly, the quality of this DVD is right up there with Queensryche's Mindcrime at the Moore! If you are even a minimal Tesla fan, you gotta see this!...more info
  • Worth every cent
really great example of great rock band doing what they do best. the performance, the camera work, the additional content...and I recomennd that not only to Tesla fans, but to all rockfans. ...more info
  • Great show - great band - region 1 DVD
The band and the show on this DVD are both great, make no mistake! All other reviewers have pointed that out, and I do not disagree at all.

Two minor drawbacks make me give it only 4 out of 5 stars:
    1) contrary to the description on the amazon.com-page when I bought it, this is a region 1 DVD, which made it a bit hard for me as a european to view it. But I managed... ;-)
    2) there are a couple of interview sequences in the middle of the concert film, which I find a bit annoying. Why didn't they put those in the special features section, and just leave the concert film alone to be viewed as a complete concert?

But those are minor drawbacks - if you're a fan of rock'n'roll, hard rock or anything guitar based: Don't miss out on this DVD!! Tesla ROCKS!...more info
  • Great DVD!
I've been a Tesla fan since the first album came out in 1986. This is a well put together dvd with sound and picture quality, these guys have always put out great albums, and now this is a great concert to go with it!!! Get this dvd Tesla Fans!!!...more info
  • I love those lazy days and crazy nights
I've been a fan of Tesla for a very long time and I think they're one of the best bands of our time and I'm very happy to finally have a Tesla concert on dvd, I watched it last night and I was thrilled, after all this time Tesla still rocks hard, "getting better every day", just a little detail, some information from the backcover is wrong, concert running time is 126 minutes and not 2 ? hrs. and audio is dolby 2.0 and not 5.1, still is very good, anyway this is a magnificent concert that every Tesla fan would enjoy, full of energy and power enough to bring you back to life again, great concert thank you Tesla. ...more info
  • Awesome DVD
If your a Tesla fan or know someone who is, then this DVD is a must have. The band is in fine form and the set list is well thought out.The sound quality as well as the camera work is excellent. If you by this DVD you will not be disapointed. ...more info
  • Tesla Rules!!!
A must-have for any Tesla fan. Well put together (excellent sound quality)... Great concert!!...more info
  • amazing
I was at the show. It is as good on DVD as it was live and I found my wife and myself in the crowd. One of the best concert DVD's you will ever buy. A must own for any fan. 5 stars...more info
  • I must agree, Great DVD!!!
Even though the band is aging, this is by far their best DVD release to date. The songlist is great from start to finish with some old and some new. There are nice segways inbetween every 3rd song or so that tell a little background about the selections, and the band truely demonstrate that they are in the business for the love of music. The musicianship is excellent. As for the DVD set up itself, top notch for being non-hd or blue ray. Does upconvert nicely on my unit. The menu's are easy to follow and the background graphics are good on them as well. The extra features also continue to give good glimpses into tesla and their fans, along with a bit of history. A must for a fan of tesla, great introduction for newbees. ...more info
  • STILL ROCKIN AFTER ALL THESE YEARS!!!! TIMELESS MUSIC!
THERE ISN'T JUST ONE WORD TO DESCRIBE THE PHENOMENAL!!! BEEN A FAN SNICE THE BEGINNING AND WILL ALWAYS HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM TO THE WORLD THAT FORGOT WHAT ROCK & ROLL WAS ALL ABOUT! UNFORTUNATELY THEY GOT SHOVED INTO THE "BIG HAIR BAND" ERA & THEY ARE WAYYYY MORE TALENTED AND UNDERRATED, JUST LIKE CINDERELLA..MET THE BAND SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY WORK VERY HARD AND IT SHOWS WITH THE MUSIC, LYRICS, PASSION & FRANK IS STILL DOING HIS MAJIC ON THE GUITAR!...more info
  • Gettin' better
Well, at least we now know what happened to Tommy Skeoch; Brian "Buck" Wheat ate him and Frank Hannon had the left overs :) Kidding aside, this is a great DVD, but could have been better. Jeff Keith's voice seems really raspy these days, almost to the point of being bothersome. Plus we find out he's a Raiders fan- nuff said. The extras are ok, the boys coming across as a little dull, but hey, isn't that why we all fell in love with Tesla in the first place? I was also disappointed with the crowd response; they could have been served better recording a performance in their hometown of Sacramento. The venue seemed it was chosen for the stage size and logistics for recording the DVD. A highlight for me was RockBottom, the old UFO chestnut. But again, the crowd didn't seem into it at all (maybe they just don't remember UFO anymore). They should have done a Montrose cover instead. Set-list wise, I would have had more Mechanical Resonance. Over-all, great, but not 5 stars....more info
  • 5 MAN ELECTRICAL JAM
Having been a fan of Tesla since '86 with Mechanical Resonance,I couldn't wait to see the band playing live with the amps turned on.
This is a band where the music is the priority, you can just tell from seeing them perform on stage. I mean Five Man Acoustical Jam was great but this is a hard rock band that needs to be plugged in.
All the guys are in fine form,Frank Hannon in particular on lead guitar impresses and shows his flare and talent with some blistering solos.
In Dave Rude, I feel they have found an excellent replacement,he compliments Frank so much that he even reminds me of a young Tommy Skeoch.
The song selection is good with a lot of favourites there and they seem to cover at least 2-3 songs from each album which should keep most people pleased.
NOW TO THE SOUND, played through a 5.1 receiver I was surprised to see that there was no 5.1 option on the menu.Surely this cant be in 2008,as the packaging clearly states surround sound in 5.1. So I got onto Amazon hoping someone had picked this up.No-one had!(yet)
Next onto Tesla's website and the first thing stated in latest news- sorry no 5.1 sound on Tesla's DVD,it has been a misprint.I can say that's a little disappointing .
Is it worth dropping a star...no,as the video,sound(2.0D/D)and complete package are worth the $US10. I get to see a band I have huge respect for play a greatest hits package, and who continue to make great music with a new song to add. This will definitely be getting repeated viewing from me.I look forward to the new cd. ...more info
  • I Went Back in a Time Machine!
I don't know if I can say anything great enough about this DVD that hasn't already been said. All I know is that I was blown away!
I saw Tesla back in 1987 when they opened up for Def Leppard's "Hysteria" tour. When I watched this DVD, I felt like I went right back to that night & was right there playing air guitar, singing along with my friends, & sweating underneath all that long hair I had...lol, (that was before I was supposed to "grow up" & "look" responsible!). EVERY song they play is dead on & just like I remember them when I was lucky enough to see them in "87". I was just as impressed by them, if not more, on this DVD as I was when they opened for D.L.
Back in the "80's", the opening band was just as impressive or better than the headliner on many occasions, but being a headliner all depended on how many records you sold. Don't get me wrong, D.L. was great, but in my opinion, Tesla was, & still is, very underrated! They are an excellent rock & roll band that has stayed just as tight as they were back in the beginning.
One of the many things, (there are too many to mention), that I love about this DVD is right before they play "Song & Emotion". They let you know that they wrote & dedicated the song to Stephen Maynard Clark, (R.I.P., 1960 - 1991), former guitarist for Def Leppard that passed away to a tragic overdose. I think that is impressive & classy. Gone but not forgotten...
Well, anyhow, if you're an old "80's" rocker like me, or you are young & want to see what REAL music should sound like, GET THIS! You WON'T be disappointed!
It's an excellent Rock/Metal concert experience! This MUST be added to your concert DVD collection & should always be played LOUD!
For me personally, I Went Back in a Time Machine! Ahhhh, the memories...
Always remember, in the words of Albert Schweitzer, "There are two means of refuge from the miseries of life: Music & Cats". So true!
Keep Rockin' & Horn's Up! \m/ ...more info
  • Are you ready for a Rock N Roll show !! Its TESLA!
This is LOUD! Without a doubt this is my favorite rock DVD. The set list is amazing with a great mix from everything including, "Into the Now".The guys never sounded better.Great intro by Frank for "Modern Day Cowboy". Unbelivable find in Dave Rude! Great guitar work.Jeff's vocals were on. Amazing camara work and the bonus features are great. Can't wait for the new CD this fall. Thanks to a new radio station in Atlanta,GA, "100.5" and a pure R&R DJ (Axel), who rates TESLA as his favorite band, we TESLA fans, will hear the past and present of these guys. Thank God. Please tour ATLANTA!...more info

  • Minnesota Rocks!
I'm a big Tesla fan, have been for years! I never seen them in concert so this dvd was a big treat to watch! Having it filmed in Minnesota was an extra thrill since that's where I'm from and them being one of my favorite bands! All I can say is to purchase this because they put on one hell of a show! The sound is spectacular and they actually communicate to the audience! Rock on Minnesota!...more info
  • Great band, Slacker DVD authoring company
The 4 stars are for the band who deserve 5. These guys rock.

The missing star if for whoever encoded the audio and ripped off the consumers. It is advertised as Dolby Digital 5.1, but the only audio channel on the DVD is Dolby 2.0. ...more info
