Customer Reviews:

  • It worth the money
    If you own one of those powerful and bulky gaming laptop with heat generating problem, this is a perfect cooler for you. It is big, sturdy and works great for my DELL XPS 1710 laptop. It has more than adequate room to accommodate a 17 inch laptop, and the 3 huge 120mm fans are powerful and quiet.

    My laptop has heat problems while running the newest games, sometimes even cause automatic shut down. This cooler solves all the heat problems for me. It is quieter than I expected, even with the most powerful settings. Plus it has 4 USB port attach to it (actually 2 net gain because it needs 2 USB ports).

    One thing should be noted is that if you would like carry it around with your laptop, you may find it is not built for mobility. Though can be folded in half, it is heavy compare those plastic coolers. But anyways, those laptops need such a cooler are always 'desktop replacements' that will mostly be sitting on your desk.

    PROs:
    powerful adjustable fans;
    sturdy aluminum made;
    fits perfectly for 17' laptops;
    worth the money;

    CONs:
    sharp edges (be careful with those);
    not for mobility;...more info
  • Does the job
    I bought this chill mat about 2 months back to replace a broken Targus one. Since I was frustrated with the fragility of the plastic Targus mat, I decided to go for an aluminium one. My experience with the mat is good so far, it does it's job well and keeps my laptop cool. The downside is that the fans do make a very minute amount of sound which may be irritating to some. The bigger issue is that the brushed metal body has sharp edges, which can scratch soft surfaces or in some cases rip fabrics....more info
  • Great cooler
    I get this the other day and it has worked wonders. I have a HP pavilion dv6700 Special Edition that I use for gaming and it cools the GPU down 10'C so now I average 40'C when idling and 50 when gaming (COD4 etc..)
    And amazon had a great shipping rate $3 for 1 day shipping which was great, because no retailer ( including best buy) had this cooler or a better one.
    Hence the cooler is made out of aluminum it naturally acts like a heat sink. And as far as noise, its not louder than a small breeze. And fits my laptop with space to spare and isn't too big for my desk(which is small)
    so it is a little on the pricey side for coolers but well worth it!...more info
  • Power Cords are TOO short
    The NzXT Cryo Cooler is a real problem if your usb's on not in the back. Why do companies make the cords SO short.

    The usb cable rocks in the coolers USB port and will surely crap out from wear.

    The USB hub, may or may not work on your particular laptop.

    The design is nice and it keeps it off your lap just fine, but wear and tear on your USB's is a real problem.

    Cooling is so so. Better than nothing.

    The company was contacted and has dc/ac plugs available on request, but they are out of them.

    [...]

    The company needs to discount the price of these things for what they are. Design and build is good, but it lacks usability with the issues stated.

    Well after 3 wks I'm sending it back to Amazon as defective. The usb board is a cheap design to hold the board in place. Last night I went to unplug it and the rear USB was barely hanging on. With this design, don't expect any longevity out of it. From the port rocking it will short out the cooler, if not your expensive laptop.

    For that reason it is going back.

    If I could change the stars on my original review, I would give it a 1. Price is not worth the quality of this product. Weak point being the USB board design.

  • Good Buy
    It does the job well. Keeping my Dell 6400 (1505) cool almost all the time if the room temperature is low as well. I wish the cooler had an external DC supply pin and an adapter ( i dont mind paying $10-15 extra for that). Its because the fans are not that fast and so not perfectly effective in driving away all the heat. If the power input is better from a DC supply and not computer USB port, this thing with its 3 fans can work way better, i predict.

    Noise at its fastest setting is still lower than my Laptop's inbuilt fan which is dusty.

    It uses 2 USB ports on your comp and repalces it with 4 in its own. If you are using a device like a USB mouse or USB internet adapter, sometimes the devices connected to the cooler dont respond very fast. I am not sure why, but when i connect the same device at the time its showing slow response, to my normal computer USB port it responds just fine. I think this is because, sometimes when the cooler fans are working very fast the computer USB ports the cooler is connected to works only to supply power as a priority over DATA information.

    Please add a DC power input to make it the best product ...more info

  • Very nice fan for a laptop
    Great device. Kinda negative thing first. It does NOT come with a power supply. It still works great on my acer 7520. My laptop has a 20 inch screen and this cooler works perfect. Keep in mind, you need to make sure the dust is removed from your laptop but it works great. I tried it on another acer and it barely cooled it. Only because the bottom of the laptop was poor designed. It only had one place for air venting. It would get almost 91 degrees during normal use. I had to remove the bottom and put it on this cooler. Then it would stay at 54 degrees!

    The extra usb hubs make this really nice. It's very solid and reliable....more info
