  • Protection good, but SLOWS DOWN everything!
360 is a complete protector for my computers, but I could kill my husband for purchasing this version over regular Norton Security or Antivirus. My internet browsing and working is now super slow and frustrating to no end. The extra protection is NOT worth both the added cost of the 360 version and the effect of extreme slowness it as over your computer....more info

  • Stellar, except backup module
Overall, Norton 360 is an excellent product, with 'one-stop shopping' of integrated system maintenance, and is much less intrusive than any products I have seen or used. The backup module is wanting, however, since it does not offer incremental backup - to get that one must purchase Norton Ghost. This positions the backup as less functional than Vista's backup module, so it doesn't make sense to even use it. Other than that, though, everything works very well to keep your system in tiptop shape with a minimum of hassle and interruptions....more info
  • Easy to use
Very easy to install and it has held up great so far. Perfect for a computer novice (such as me). But tell me again - why do these softwares have to come in such big boxes???...more info
  • It will make you very sorry you installed it!
How bad is Norton 360? - I bought a copy and promptly uninstalled it the next day! It's extremely intrusive and prone to result in very slow operation on the PC it's installed on. Norton Anti-Virus 2009 is much, much better! I friend of mine had the same experience.

What an amazing screw-up of a product!

  • If you have all day ...
I sometimes feel I need two computers. One to do work on. The other to entertain itself by downloading Microsoft patches and virus scanning. When I log into my computer, it takes generally 10 to 15 minutes of Norton 360 doing its own virus scanning (which you do not have the power to stop -- you can't even kill the process in the Task Manager). It used to take me under a minute to boot up.

Theoretically, I can still use the computer during this time, but opening a browser is a 6 to 7 minute process. If Norton 360 would give you the option at bootup to do a virus scan or not, the product would be great. Unfortunately, I usually turn on my computer because I want to do something, not because I feel like virus scanning for the next 15 minutes....more info
  • Painful install but fine now
Based on my experience, I would ONLY recommend Norton 360 as a fresh install. Prior to my being able to install Norton 360 I was required to uninstall Norton System Works, Norton Anti-Virus and Norton Internet Security. Uninstalling Norton Ghost brought the process to all stop. (It is part of System Works) I eventually had to contact Norton Tech Support for assistance in removing Norton Ghost. I thought all had gone well after Norton taking control of my computer for almost an hour......until I restarted and found that my registry had been totally mutilated. I was unable to use the internet for any assistance at all and when I contacted Norton by phone the woman with whom I spoke said that since I did not have any Norton products installed on my computer (true...) that my problems didn't involve them. I ended up having to wipe my hard drive and start over from scratch. It ended up being two solid days of work to regain use of the computer. Luckily I had back-up's of my files. Now, with what amounts to a fresh install, Norton 360 works fine. But believe me, I was not a happy camper for several days! I had read that others had had problems with an "non-virgin" install and only recommended it for new installations. BELIEVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...more info
  • Great Price and Works Well
Easy to install, easy to setup and seems to work well with out any negatives. Password storage feature is pretty cool as well as the auto back up feature to an external drive. Much improvement over older versions. ...more info

  • Norton 360
Recent in a long line of Norton/Symantec products. Overall, good product.. still not the equivalent of Systemworks. Also missing from this product is the visual display of what happens during disk optimization. Several competitor's products still include a disk map gladly showing you what's going on. No explanation as to why it's missing in this product. Also, in years past, Systemworks would gladly move system files from the center of the disk to join other files closer to the boot track. No where to be found here, I guess if they think they don't have to show you it's not doing it, then you won't know the movement isn't taking place. On the whole, it's a novice product, but if you want something with a little more detail... look somewhere else....more info
  • Software Causes Problems on Some Computers
I installed this product on three computers. Two seem to be working fine. The other had so many problems I thougth the PC was the problem. At least five programs including Google Earth and Turbo Tax would not even run. The PC frequently would not shut down but hang up.
I heard of another person experiencing these problems and he switched to Kaspersky Internet Security. I did the same and now I have no problems at all. I think Norton is a memory hog so be careful or buy Kaspersky - it is great. You can buy Kaspersky at Amazon for a substantially reduced price or try it for free at the Kaspersky website....more info
  • Returning user..
I used Norton 360 on my desktop computer, starting in 2008. I found it easy to install from the disk. When I installed the version I just bought the only issue I had with the install, was that I had to manually remove the old version of the program. I really like this product and will continue to use it in the future. I would always recommend that anyone installing any Norton product, do it from a purchased disk and not online, I have had serious problems trying to download Norton programs online....more info
  • DO NOT BUY IT!
I have been an avid Norton Symantec user for over 13 years. This is the worst product EVER. It slows your system down so much that I had to disable most of the features, which an average user will not know how to do.

My biggest complaint is that once the "virus update" expires.. it renders the entire software useless. I couldn't even go in and make simple changes to the settings, nothing to do with the virus update feature. PLUS A pop-up comes up everyday twice a day begging me to buy another year subscription. That is false. What they are really asking is that I buy the software again. Once a year is up .. you might as well throw it in the trash OR give it to someone else OR wipe your hard drive and install a fresh copy.

I am not happy with it at all! I will never buy any anti-virus or internet security software from this company again. I have heard of complaints that it will crash your system the day it expires.

Uninstalling any Norton products are difficult and you should find a good article on the internet on how to do this. NOTE: You must uninstall any anti-virus software if you are installing a different brand.

  • Do Not Purchase This Product
After installing Norton 360, I found that all of the data associated with Quicken on my PC was missing. I restored the Quicken information from backup. A few hours later, the Quicken data was gone again. I repeated this cycle a couple more times with the same results. I removed the Norton 360 software and have experienced no problems with Quicken since.

I contacted Norton Customer Support and calmly explained what had transpired. They told me this was not possible and hung up on me. I then e-mailed the company regarding the problem. After a week's worth of trading messages, they referred me to their Live Chat option for advanced support. Upon trying this a couple of times, the only response I receive is that "I am next in the queue" but no answer after more than 30 minutes.

Based upon the obviously defective software and the abysmal support, I would strongly recommend pursuing some other company's product for your security needs....more info

  • Norton 360 complete, but more trouble than it's worth
I bought this product because it was on sale and I had read a couple of good reviews (although now I see there are many negative ones). The good thing is that Norton 360 is a complete package - antivirus software plus many bonuses. But it is also very resource-hungry! I installed it on my laptop computer and noticed a major slowdown right away that just seemed to get worse. Internet Explorer became painful to use. I thought the whole point was to get rid of viruses to speed things up! So I ended up removing Norton (you need to use Symantec's online removal tool), and now my computer is back to normal. To make Norton 360 work well, you will probably need the newest computer with more than 2 GB of RAM - otherwise, in my opinion, it's not worth buying....more info

  • DO NOT USE THIS!!!
I received the Norton 360 around March. It has really messed up my computer. If I leave the firewall on, I can't use my internet. I can't schedule a defrag because Norton won't let me. It is really ridiculous!!
I would not recommend this product to anyone!.

  • Norton thinks users are stupid - they "automated" utilitye
Norton has unilatterally determined that "they know best" and when you try to optimize your disk, it WILL NOT optimize them unless NORTON thinks they need to be optimized. Even 7% fragmentation does not reach the "magic threshold".

I chated for over 1 hour with Norton Support (an oxymoron) and was told that I should just use Windows Defrag because 360 would only defrag when IT wanted to.

Systemworks is a GREAT product - could run SpeedDisk and even at 7% fragmentation you could speedup your computer by running the utility.

I guess Norton thinks that every single computer user now-a-days is "computer illeteriate", and that they need to FULLY AUTOMATE EVERYTHING.

Bottom line - if you have Systemworks, stick with it and use one of the free antivirus products.

BTW - don't even think of trying to combine SystemWorks with Norton Internet Security - in Norton's great wisdom they won't let you install them if the other one is installed....more info
