  • small, relatively quick, but drinks lots of ink
I am using this printer in my small office. Unlike some other reviewers, I found the setup to be simple (less than 15 minutes, most of which was software download). It prints much more quickly that the older Lexmark all in one I was using but you can get around this by choosing the fast print option. The only down side I have found is that I am replacing ink every 15 days or so but then again it is printing at least 30 pages per day. Given the price, it is a true value for the money. I will probably buy another one when I need a new printer for home....more info
  • Canon MX300
I use my MX300 for printing, scanning, and faxing. I haven't used it for photos and do not plan to use it for that. The MX300 was super easy to install. It works great - only issue is that the cartridges are expensive and the MX300 uses the ink fast. I have owned the computer about 4 months and have just had to install the 3rd set of cartridges. The cartridges are PRICY for such an inexpensive printer - thus - though the MX300 works well, I may have to buy something else within the year. ...more info
  • Fantastic printer for the price, just a tad too bulky
Extreme value for the price. Prints quickly, although about 1-2 minute load time after pressing the power on button. Only complaint is that it takes up half my desk space. ...more info
  • So far so good...
This 5-in-1 printer was very cheap, less than $85. It's very noisy. However, for the $$ paid, I am very happy....more info
  • Canon Pixma MX300 All-in-One
I'm very pleased with this item, especially the scanning option. It's very fast and the copies are as good as a copier....more info
  • Great multi-function unit for the price.
Only problem I have is that there is no "feeder" for multiple page copies. You have to load each page separately....more info
  • Very good quality, fast, and quiet
This printer is marvelous. We have never had much luck with HP printers, so i decided to try something different. It was on sale from an original price of $180 for $60. When I got it, it was very easy to set up on my computer, and I was up and running in minutes. My only complaint about printers in general these days is that you have to buy your own USB cable. But at least they're cheap.

Then, after about 4 months of use, I tried to print on an envelope. For some reason, it jammed immediatly, and shredded the envelope to bits (inside the printer). So I ran for some needle-nose pliers, got the paper out, reset it, and tried to print on a regular letter sized page. It went crazy. It would feed the page half through, printing on it, then for no apparent reason, jam, and I would have to pull the page out. And now you're wondering...why in the world did I rate this 5 stars if something like that happened? Customer Service.

When I called Canon, I was redirected a couple of times, and then I spoke to a live person. After explaining the problem, I gave her the serial number and date of purchase. Then she asked for my shipping address, and told me that they would ship me a brand new one, free of charge, and include prepaid postage to ship the broken one back. She said it would be a couple of business days before the new one got here. And considering that it was only about a week after Christmas, that sounded pretty good.

I woke up next morning to take my dog for a walk, and when I opened the door, there was the brand new printer. Canon had shipped it overnight. I took it upstairs and set it up, and it worked perfectly.

So 4 stars for the actual product, and many more than 5 stars for customer service....more info
  • Easy to use inexpensive printer/fax/copier/scanner
I am happy with this printer/fax/copier/scanner. It was easy to set up with my Mac. The print quality is good with injet paper or laser paper.
It is not too heavy; but it is wider than my eMac (Mac computer.) I ordered a USB cable too; so I was able to hook it up to my Mac when I got it.
The fax function works well. It makes great colorful copies or black and white. The scanner is easy to use too. The ink cartridges are easy to install and replace. It has been trouble free. The ink replacement cartridges are easy to find and they are not too expensive compared with other printers. This is a high quality product.
I feel satisfied; happy with this relatively inexpensive printer....more info
  • Gave up and sent it back after 4 calls to canon.
Printer and copier worked great. Fax would disconnect line during voice phone calls. The first repair tech told me this was a known problem. After 4 calls to canon , I was told to leave the machine OFF so it would not disconnect the line during voice calls! What a wonderful fix for the problem! Gave up and sent it back....more info
  • not happy!!!
The printer has had problems since I bought it. After 2 months it no longer prints it keeps pulling the paper to the side or not pull the paper through at all while it still seems like it's printing and wasting ink. Do not waste your money. I called Canon and they said I could send it in because it seems when the printer is moved from one location to another the paper rollers can get off track causing the paper to pull side ways. By the time I mail the printer in I might as well go by another, what a waste of money. ...more info
  • Good for basics
I've owned the MX300 for about two months now. If you're sure about your priorities, this MFP could be fine for you -- it is for me. I mainly print text documents of 5 pages or less for my own use -- I don't need the best text quality. I also wanted the ability to fax, but I don't need to fax more than a page or two every week. I receive a few pages a week as well.

Overall, the MX300 was easy to set up. I wasn't sure how well it would work with my single-line digital phone from Time Warner. The instructions were of little help with fax setup, but it wasn't difficult to figure out, and it works well. Fax quality is very good, very legible.

Photo output is mixed. The smoothness and color is good --it's just that the color is really not accurate at all. Color scans also have this problem. If you can calibrate your monitor to the printer, you can get better color, but I find color is pretty far off from the originals. So if color isn't that important to you, photos are fine.

One nice aspect is the small footprint compared to other MFPs, which was a priority for me. Be aware that the 'starter' ink cartridges that come with this model won't last long -- mine gave out after only a couple of weeks of low-volume printing. The printer will SAY it's out of ink before it actually is (you can turn off the ink monitor if you poke around in the menu). Replacement cartridges cost nearly $45 -- I'm still using the full cartridges, so not sure how long they will last.

Overall, this MFP works well for me -- it's small (though very noisy)and it can fax (send/receive) and it was cheap. ...more info
