  • Shot bloks - mmmmm
    I wish these things were never invented because they are addictive! Occasionally I will eat these as a snack at home. Bad idea! They should be saved for the trail or road, because each pack has as many calories as a Snickers bar.

    Shot Bloks' advantages over the gel-type carb packets are that they're less messy, and about twice as many calories at 200 calories per pack. On a 7 mile hike, more IS better.

    You can just pop them in your mouth one at a time, without stopping to squeeze goo out of a packet. When you're finished, you don't have a sticky packet to deal with, just put the wrapper your pocket.

    Some people don't like the taste. Well, they're not candy, but I find them delicious. The texture is very similar to the DOTS you get at movie theaters.

    I used these blocks training for the Chicago Marathon. The first few times, I enjoyed the taste, but was a little put off by how big and chewy they were.

    The package says that each package is two servings of blocks. However, there is not a very good way to store the second half of the bag while on your run. The remaining blocks got even stickier than they started out.

    Also, they were somewhat hard to eat while running. They were just too big and too chewy.

    I have switched to the Jelly Belly Sport Beans, which I find better tasting and somewhat easier to eat due to their smaller size....more info

    I've gotten hooked on Shot Bloks as an energy source for longer bike rides.

    They are easy to carry, eat, and provide a foolproof way of monitoring calorie consumption. Yes, they're sweet, but they don't give me that sick to my stomach feeling that many of the gels are known for. The texture is a huge improvement over gels as well. Whether you chew it quickly or just hold it in your mouth, eating it is easy.

    I've tried several of the flavors and settled on Strawberry as the one that works for me....more info

  • Awesome way to keep up your energy!
    I bought the black cherry Shot Bloks last August before my first half marathon. I wasn't sure how well I was going to like them, but was amazed by them! They are easy to carry with you on long runs, and the caffeine helps keep me moving along. I love the taste and there are two servings per packet, so I don't have to carry as many! I would totally recommend these to anyone. Try all the flavors; they're good!...more info
  • Better than peeing
    I kickbox, and drink a sports drink prior to my workouts. Unfortunately, this meant having to take breaks to relieve myself often. I tried SHOT BLOKS with the sole purpose of reducing my "potty breaks." And it worked! I still drink plenty of water during my workouts, but these give me the electrolytes I need without filling me liquid.

    They taste like gummi chews, and all my friends like them as well. Be warned tho, the Black Cherry flavor does have a shot of caffeine. Those looking to avoid caffeine should go with the Lemon-Lime flavor.

  • Shot Bloks are great!
    The shot bloks with caffeine are amazing. I have used them for several long training runs and races. Since I eat three hours before a big race, I often take a serving 15 minutes before the start of a race. I also replenish my supply taking them 40 minutes after the start of the race to give me kick. It takes about 15 minutes to get into your bloodstream. Be sure to drink water/gatorade with them. When it's cold outside, they are a little hard to chew at first....more info

    Was not nearly as pleasant as other similar products we have purchased. We were very disappointed in the consistency & taste of this product. We couldn't even convince our work-out fanatic friends to try liking this product. Certainly this product could be improved in flavor & consistency! Needless to say, we didn't notice any energy boost[as product claims]once we did get the shot blocs chewed & consumed. We won't be buying this again, but will continue to seach for similar better tasting items....more info

  • Great on-the-bike food.
    I can't eat powerbars while I'm on long bike rides...a little too heavy. These bloks digest really easily. Nice alternative to engergy gels. Black cherry flavor is killer....more info

    Great energy product. Shelf stable, easy to carry, gets 'gooey' but does not melt, fast-acting, and easy to regulate how many carbs you're taking in. Way better than carrying juice boxes or Goo....more info
