  • Games books are fantastic
I am totally in love with the Ghostwalker series,of which this book is one. I recommend reading the whole series. I think Christine Feehan is the best of the genre. I don't know what it is about her books but I love them. I can just sink into the fantasy of the book and become part of it. I feel like I know the characters. I read these books the minute I get them and usually reread them immediately. I plan to reread the whole series this summer. These are my favorite of Christine Feehan's series. If you don't like graphic sex, don't read this book. It is definitely titillating.

  • Surprisingly good.
First off, let me say I've been a long time Christine Feehan fan, and there have been some books I've loved, and others I thought were eh, alright.

This book I absolutely adored. I'm going to go home and read it again.

For one thing, I liked the fact that the characters have Issues at the beginning of the book, and at the end of the book they still have the same Issues, but they have learned to deal with them. Nobody goes through a personality conversion to something completely different. Everyone is the same, only better and happier.

If you haven't read a Christine Feehan book before, this is a good one to start with. The romance is HOT! There's enough background history given so that you understand what's up, without dragging down the story. And the characters are well rounded and have realistic flaws.

If you are a longtime fan, this is the best one in the series. Jack Norton is a bad ..... at the start of the book, and he's still scary as all get out at the end. He doesn't become a rolly-polly teddy bear. And Briony is a strong woman who doesn't realize it. It's a very authentic story (even though there is telepathy and psychic powers (grin)).

    PS I can't WAIT for Ken's story....more info
  • Delightful Surprise
I was really expecting these books to get alittle stale, but that is not the case. This is an intense, riviting adventure. The action was great, the romance was good and I am looking forward to the next one in fact I have already pre-ordered it.

Jack Norton is a Ghostwalker, his twin brother Ken is also a Ghostwalker. When Ken is captured on a mission, Jack goes in to save him and he is captured. Both men are tortured but Jack gets Ken out and then has to save himself. While trying to escape he finds an old friend and his family are with a circus in Africa. Jack is known for his ability to put his emotions, those he has, on hold and get the job done.

Briony is the sister of his friend. She is a trapese artist as well as her brothers. When she meets Jack they are immedately attracted. In fact it is the first time either has been so filled with these emotions. They know Jack has to leave, but he leaves in a very bad way, leaving Briony very hurt.

Two months later she finds she is pregnant, when she goes to her doctor he immedately tries to capture her and sedate her. She must fight her way out of his office. She knows she was adopted and now she realizes how she has been controlled and studied her whole life. Jack has mentioned Dr Whitney and now they are sure he is still alive. Her only safety can be with Jack.

When she tells Jack about the baby, they know someone orchestrated their meeting, and they know they have been geneticially created for each other. Dr Whitney has no intention of letting her or the special child she carries escape him.

I think this is one of the best books in this series. At the end we learn she has a twin too. The next book should be the story of Ken and Mari, and I for one can't wait....more info

  • Very Good
I love Christine Feehan's Ghostwalker series. I started out disappointed that this book focused on Jack Norton instead of some of the other Ghostwalkers but my disappointed outlook changed. This was a good book. I'm not going to write a plot summary since so many others on Amazon have already did that. I enjoyed the characters and felt that their relationship could have been explored further. I thought everything about this book was too quick and that's why I can't give it 5 stars. I felt that the couple got together too quickly and that the ending was wrapped too quickly. I agree with some of the previous posters I think the phrenomone thing is too similar to the Carpathians and that Ms. Feehan needs to slow that down some. I can't wait to read Deadly Game to find out about the twins. I highly recommend this book....more info
  • Best of the series
Although Jack Norton has his share of misery and angst the love story between him and Briony is beautiful. So much of Feehan previous Ghost Walker heroines have fought and obstructed their 'mates' for most of their books. Not this one, the chemistry and love between them is fantastic from the first moment they meet. She accepts him scars and all. Jack's relationship with his brother is such easy reading, I can't wait for Ken's story.

For those fans complaining about how Feehan books have got boring and the same - Buy this one, you won't be disappointed!...more info

  • arguably one of Feehan's strongest heroines
Conspiracy Game is the fourth book in the Ghost Walker series about physically and psychically enhanced warriors, and the women who were the guinea pigs for the military enhancement project. It's by far my favorite of Feehan's series.

Briony Jenkins is a performer in her family's circus act. Unknown to her, she's also one of the young women from the original experiment, who'd been adopted out to a family. Her superior physical skills are a benefit in the act, but her extreme empathy, which causes her to feel the emotions of everyone around her, makes being near people physically painful.

Jack Norton rescues his twin Ken from a torturer, only to be captured and tortured himself. He escapes, seriously injured, and senses another Ghostwalker nearby, who turns out to be Briony. In a nice twist, she saves his life, gets him back to her brothers, the eldest of whom knew Jack in the military.

Her brothers keep telling her to stay away from Jack, but whenever she's near him, she has the novel sensation of being without pain because he's an anchor. And the more she's near him, the more they're drawn to each other. They have a brief romantic interlude, then Jack leaves, intending never to return because of demons in his own past.

Hmmm. How much to reveal? I think I'll stop there. Suffice it to say that Jack and Briony were literally made for each other, and that the evil Dr. Whitney is determined to capture Briony, while both he and the African warlord are after Jack.

The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat, with one dangerous situation after another, but just as exciting was the emotional journey of the characters.

Briony is quite possibly one of the strongest heroines Feehan's ever written. Not only does she have the Ghostwalker enhancements, but she's lived her whole life without any support, with nearly constant pain, and she's learned to work around it. What was most heartbreaking was that her family didn't believe her about the pain--they assumed it was all psychological.

Jack has the opposite problem--he's learned not to feel, and he's afraid to be close to anyone but his twin for fear of what he'll do--partially because of years spent as a sniper, and partially because of a horrible, dark secret in his past. He's also endearing, as is Ken (whose story I hope will be written soon), because he's not movie-star handsome. Both brothers are covered with scars.

This series has developed Feehan's famous quirk: soulmates. But I really cannot object, because I like the way it was explained--Dr. Whitney produced mated pairs deliberately so that he could breed his own army. Plus, the pairs haven't just fallen in line with their programming. They end up together, but there's more to it than just pheromones....more info
  • Excellent addition to the existing series.
Excellent - exciting, romantic, and the conversations between the twin brothers were hilarious and yet very touching. The heroine fit right in and was amazing in her own right (a trapeze artist!) - I loved her reactions and how she fit in with the brothers' teasing each other and her!. Her ability to work with the emotional issues that the hero (one of the twins) had was really good. Highly recommended. Can hardly wait for the next one about the romance of the second brother (I won't spoil it further)....more info
  • So Bad
Paranormal romances are not usually my thing, but I was out of town and desperate for something to read so I picked it up in the hotel gift shop. Well, I made a very poor choice. For the three days I was holed up in the hotel room I tried to read this crappy book and when I checked out I left it in the trash can. The plot was silly and unrealistic -- even for this genre. The characters were one dimensional caricature in no way believeable -- even for this genre. This was a complete waste of money....more info

  • Paved the road to read the rest.
I'm actually a fan of her dark series and decided to try out this book because I had nothing else to read. I must say that this is definately a great book. It's not a cop out of other writer's work. It was a little hard to read because of all the computer and scientific lingo but it was ok, I actually felt that I learned some stuff. My husband was there to help me understand some of the computer lingo. I finished this book in about 5 hours and rushed out to get the rest of the series. Definately counting the days until Deadly Game is release. ...more info
  • GAME SET MATCH
Picked this up for a business trip. Read it going thru security! This was one hell of an exciting book. Paranormal, enhanced characters and great heros.

Couldnt get past the names Briony & Marigold but heck, I worked with a lady named Cellardore!! Go figure.

The action was tense and exciting. Edge of your seat stuff. Hot, steamy sex. The guy on the cover wasnt my favorite but Jack and Ken on the inside were!!!! I'd rather use my imagination when it comes to those pictures on covers. I really do look at a book's cover and back cover with interest.

    On to Ms Feehan's next.
