Product Description

The correct EST (Eastern Standard Time) has been preset at the factory, so just plug the clock in and adjust the time zone as necessary. In the case of a power interruption, the built-in Lithium battery maintains the correct time so you don't have to re-set the clock. When Daylight Savings Time changes take place in the spring and fall each year, there is no need to adjust the clock because the built-in calendar recognizes the dates and automatically makes the proper time adjustments. Choose your own snooze time instead of being held captive by the short time intervals of other snooze times. Each press of the snooze button adds an additional 10 minutes to your total snooze time for up to a full hour of uninterrupted sleep. Customer Reviews:

  • Best Clock Radio I own
I listen to the radio a lot, and I love clock radios. This is my favorite one. It is also one of the cheapest I've purchased. It sets time automatically, so you do not have to worry about DST changeovers, resetting after power failures or making sure it's accurate. The radio reception is decent, and even picks up fairly weak signals.

It's not perfect though. The speaker is small, and although great for listening to news in the morning, might not be adequate for enjoying music. The radio sometimes picks up interference from other adjacent stations which can be annoying. However, most cheap analog radios have this problem. My other $30 Sony radio is a bit better at distinguishing between stations though. Still, you cannot go wrong for $11 and free shipping. ...more info

  • Satisfaction
My Bose Wave radio quit working suddenly one day and I called the company and found I could get it reconditioned for $99. Well I figured I could get a decent radio for less than that, so got a recommendation from my daughter. She has a Sony ICF-C218 and likes it. So I ordered mine. It came very quickly and I am so pleased that I have recommended it to several friends, all of whom have purchased one of their own. Oh, the cost was $11 plus shipping, a far cry from $99 and I am more than pleased. The radio is easy to operate, even without reading the directions. It sets the time on its own after being unplugged. (I travel frequently and unplug my appliances while gone.) I get a lot more stations than I did with the Bose, for whatever reason, and my favorite program comes in just as well. I recommend this radio to anyone who wants a small bedside radio with an alarm. ...more info
  • Perfect Little Radio
The sound on this radio is not great, but who cares. Everything else it does is great and all I want it to do is wake me up. Way down at the end of the store aisle, after all the very fancy, expensive radios, was this little Sony for $12. A little apprehensive at the low price, I figured that since it offered the basics, the price was right. The best news is that, although I almost didn't see it, simple radios are still available at a decent price. I don't need a dual alarm or a CD player and I don't need to silence the alarm simply by a wave of the hand. A basic radio with very easy-to-understand functions gets my vote. Thanks, Sony!...more info
  • Great deal.
I had to get a new Alarm clock after one of the two i use broke (i use two alarms to wake me up), i like how this one 'sets' itself just plug it in and go, so to speak. The digits are big which is also nice, the only thing i don't like is the alarm is as loud as i hoped, of course you can use the radio and have it turned all the way up but, i prefer the alarm.
I also bought one for a relative and they love it because of the big display.

  • Good product
I have used Sony Dream Machines before and they work well. The one thing I like about them is that when you set up the alarm and it goes off, all you do is hit the off button. The alarm will go on once again the next time it's supposed to without fiddling with any other buttons. The sound quality on this model isn't the best, but for the price I can't complain. A feature I thought was handy is that the time is set from the factory. All you have to do is select the time zone. All in all, a good buy and good product. ...more info
  • Great product
I got tired of using my phone as my alarm and wanted the cheapest clock i could get, so I tried this one. In the past i've had more expensive alarm clocks, and I like this one far more. Its just plain easy to use and does its job wonderfully. The brigtness is just fine, easy to operate when half asleep, can easily/quickly change alarm time, etc... If i ever needed another alarm clock, I'd buy this one without hesitation....more info
  • Not bad
It's not a bad clock radio. I found about it runs 2 minutes fast and also it gives off a mildly annoying interference hum probably about 3-4 times a day, though, it only lasts a matter of seconds. ...more info
  • Not Automatic Not Atomic
This is a most excellent radio/alarm clock for the money. The alarm and the time are easy to set. The battery backup is a wonderful feature and the battery comes built in. However, this is not an automatic setting/atomic clock. It does not set itself by radio time signals. You have to find an accurate clock and set it yourself. However, once set it keeps time plugged or unplugged. The built in battery is supposed to be good for 250 unpowered days. I haven't tested it for that long. It is handy though in that you do not have to reset the clock every time you change outlets. Let me add that it has an automatic daylight savings time adjustment feature if you want to use it.

Would I buy it again? Absolutely. Why only 4 stars? Deceptive advertising. ...more info
  • Sony ICF-C218 Automatic Time Set Clock Radio
This is an especially nice radio for the money. Easy to set the time. If you press the alarm button when it goes off it automaticlly resets the alarm for the same time next day. This is great except for weekends. If you want to turn the alarm completely off, the control to do that is rather small. All that said, I would recommend this radio....more info
  • Terrific, reliable, love the analog feature and ease of use.
Love this after using the old version of clock radios. Easy button , alarm sets with a move of finger. Clarity with sound. ...more info
  • Decent Alarm Clock
The description said you could set the length of the snooze. Not exactly true. You hit the snooze button once and it's a ten minute snooze, twice and it goes to 20 min, three times for 30 min, etc up to 60 min, and if you hit it 7 times it's back to 10. So you can't program it for a 15 min snooze. Not the end of the world, but just so people know what they're getting.

Alarm time is easy to set, with a button right on the front top right. You can push it either way to set the time forward or backwards, so if you overshoot your preferred alarm time by a few minutes, you don't have to cycle through 24 hours again to get back to the time you want. You just push the botton the other way.

Pretty big clock, not a small travel clock. Read the dimensions.

The alarm sound itself is not constant. It's a "beep-beep-beep" then a pause, then a "beep-beep-beep", pause, etc. Not sure if it gets louder or not as it goes on, haven't used it yet. Will update.

Would prefer to pick my alarm sound/tone, but oh well.

    Good clock....more info
  • "AWESOME"
I am very pleased with this product. It is accurate and easy to use. I have had alot of clock radios before, but I like this one best....more info
  • Works well
A good product for the money. I especially like the way it sets itself immediately when you plug it in. Other similar clocks take more time to do so. Of course, the sound quality of the radio is terrible; but I rarely use the unit for its radio. Overall, a fine product that works well....more info

I bought this for my newly redecorated spare bedroom. It has large numbers with a bright backlight......perfect for us aging baby boomers!...more info
  • Works well
I wanted a clock that was easy to use, intuituve to set up, and didn't lose time when the power goes out. Since I live off-grid, my backup generator throws the time off on most clocks if the frequency is slightly off. This one does not suffer from that problem. This clock meets all my needs though not quite as simple to use as it could be (but better than other models with way too many features)....more info

  • Terrific Buy!
This is a terrific little clock-radio at a marvelous price. It may be the best value of anything I have ever bought from Amazon. The clock is easy to use, has already passed the power outage test, and the radio is about as good as you can get at this size. People who have found various nit-pick faults with this little gem need to review what they paid for it. Yeah it is a little difficult to set in the dark - the first two or three times. But here's an idea: set it before you turn off the lights. I love the big, easy-to-read bright green display. I can see it from across the room and right next to it. So bright it keeps you awake? Please. I sleep with it about 18 inches from my face. Doesn't keep me awake. In short, this is a great product at a great price. Buy it. As an added bonus, like almost all products sold directly by Amazon, it arrived in three days. Why most of the various vendors that sell through Amazon need anywhere from 7 to 14 days is a real mystery, especially since they usually charge even higher rates than Amazon....more info
  • The radio does not work well!
The clock alarm works and I like it. But the radio's antenna is not working well, especially for the AM radio. I can not listen to the radio due to the big noise! They say if you want to get a better signal, you have to rotate it... That is funny, because considering it being a clock, you can't just rotate your clock... if you do that you wont see the time anymore! Also, they say you can try making the power cable more straight... again, making a straight direction for the power cable is another funny thing that is hard to do!...more info
