- Realistic, fun shooter!
Being a Tom Clancy game, I had my doubts about how good the game might be, since I'm not a big fan of his games...HOWEVER, I must admit, I just got this game 2 days ago, and I am having a blast playing it.
It's very realistic, and I must say that it's way better than Rainbow 6: Vegas, and overall, it's a really fun game to play.
The gameplay is very smooth, shooting is fairly realistic, you can hide & cover behind almost anything, there's a nice choice of weapons pick from, you can choose team mates, and your team mate intelligence is very good, (as is the bad guys). Your teammates just don't stand around in the open looking stupid. Heck, you can even shoot thru certain types of obstacles to get a bad guy, like thin walls, or something like that.
You have night vision, you've got help from a flying remote vehicle, you can place teammates anywhere you like, you can have your mates do some recon for you, you can even look thru your own team member's helmet cam for a different perspective on the battlefield.
It's almost impossible to have a grenade land where you want it to land. Which is why I love the SOCOM games so much, because, in SOCOM, you know exactly how hard to throw it, and you KNOW without a doubt, where the grenade is going to land! In this game, it's guesswork, at best. And 9 times out of 10, you miss your targets....Which is a total waste of a good grenade!
Sometimes there are SO MANY bad guys at one time (in one concentrated area), it's a REAL CHALLENGE to get them all, unless you have a bazooka or something..... But, when there's 3000 bullets ripping your way, you sometimes can't even get a few shots out....Which is a bit annoying.
While you can get help from a medic in this game, there's not much margin for error in terms of getting shot at...You better hide as often as possible....I guess it's just like real life, but, being a game, one would assume that even on an easy setting, that would change just a little bit??? But, it does not! So, be prepared for that when buying/playing this game.
Other than those few bad points I have mentioned, it's a really fun game to play, it's very realistic, and has some pretty cool features...Let's face it, no game is perfect, and this game is no different, (and I still love my SOCOM games better) however, Ghost Recon 2 is certainly worth the price of admission, and probably the better (maybe the best) new military game thus far, for the PS3 game system!
- Excellent combat action
The gameplay it's absolutely great. It's like being there for real. Besides, the game offers a variety of game modes including multiplayer. it's excellent for strategies and objective accomplishments....more info
- Great Game
If your thinking about buying this game you should it's very fun and the graphics and Audio are amazing! This game is very realistic. Im from El Paso, TX which is a sister city to Cuidad Juarez it was fun and amazing to see my home town of El Paso, TX in the game as Fort Bliss is in El Paso. Also the writing on the Mountain "CD JUAREZ LA BIBLIA ES LA VERDAD" is really on the mountain that is located in Juarez and is visable from the freeway here in El Paso. Oh and by the way it translates to "THE BIBLE IS THE TRUTH, READ IT....more info
- Realistic game
If you have been away from gaming for awhile you will be impressed with how realistic this game feels. If you could imagine going through a qualifiction course for tactical ops like SWAT or special ops, this is what that simulation would look like to me. A very entertaining game that felt well put together.
- No suspense
This game was great for a while and it was fairly realistic. however it had little suspense or anything else to keep it interesting. In addition the multiplayer was terrible. The game play is smooth, but controlling several differant things at once gets to be a hassel.
If you want a game that is similar to this, but with better graphics and better ability to controll your team then I would go with Rainbow Six Vegas 2. It has overall better game play, a VERY customizable character and still has a unique story line. ...more info
- Yea, I agree with the first reviewer.
This is a fun game to play. I don't spend too much money on games for the PS3 and yet I bought this after trying the demo. It takes a bit to learn all the different weapons and controls but quickly becomes immersive afterwards....more info
- Single player great, Online a bust.
I'm not as much into tactical shooters but I had some real fun with this game. However I could never get online with it. I've never had a problem with any other PS3 game. With this one all I ever got were 'Network Service Errors'. I have my router set up just right (PS3 in DMZ) and I even tried forwarding the ports they list in the manual but no luck. I couldn't find any answers or support online. Very frustrating....more info
- Smooth gameplay
I have only spent five hours on the clock, and tried the training and online multiplayer. The graphics is phenomenal with a lot of vivid details. There are 40 multiplayer maps. Many of them allow you to set the current weather conditions, and the objects show up accordingly. Developers in their video interview are very proud of the graphic presentation of explosions, smokes, could, sunshine, ..etc, and I see why.
Online gameplay is smooth. The battlefields are decorated with all sorts of things. Character movements are very life like. The motion sensor controls are interesting, but can be not so responsive.
The multiplayer maps are big and packed with features like drone order (which lets you spy on enemy territory that finally reveals their exact positions on your first person view), teammate view, injured and wait for medication or die and spawn now, ..etc.
But for me who enjoy the upclose duel with enemies in Resistance Fall of Man's Nottingham map, GRAW 2 instead is somewhat slow. Some maps seem to be huge enough for 32-64 players (but only 16 or 32 supported, not sure), so players like to be snipers. Accuracy is highly emphasized (also better than Resistance), but there is no knife or punch. Slow running, small figures in first person views, and lack of knife/punch is why I'm taking one star off GRAW 2. Also to me, Resistance wins in the online gameplay fun factor if watching how you gun down the enemies up close is what intoxicates you.
It does let you carry a rifle, a handgun, and two kinds of grenades. Weapon change takes about 2-3 seconds, which is closer to the real situation....more info
- I really enjoyed it...
Co-op offline, vs offline, online play, single player mode offline --- all these features come in a lot of games, however the graphics, the realism & the nearly-unlimited opponents do not.
Overall, I liked this game, the co-op should of let you view third-person, but other than that, I felt the modes were awesome.
Customize your character...
Battle 50+ people at one time with a friend helping...
It's a great game....more info
- Wow makes fun!
The Game ist Fantastic after 2 days the Gameplay was in.
The gametime is enough, the game himself is makes a lot of funny hours to play.
- Unstable game
I am just going to leave a short review. Storyline is just average. Game play takes some getting use to since you have to control other soldiers/vehicles.
I would have rated this game a little higher if it wasn't for the fact that the game constantly crashes. I would have to quit the game at least every other checkpoint. Needless to say this was pretty frustrating. This is not the fault of my PS3 since I have played many other games without any problems. There doesn't seem to be a way to patch this game; maybe I just couldn't find it....more info
- As real as it gets
After playing the demo I was hooked but nothing could prepare me for the full game. This game sticks to the basics and does that really well.It is a very believeable game and the fluid controls add to this experience. ...more info
- Good, but not COD or even RB6V-2.
When this game came to PS3, I slept on this game. When I first had a chance to buy it, I bought RB6V-2 and COD4. Now, I decided to buy the game. It is not COD, but almost as fun. Plus, the modern technology used in the game is really cool. Of course, your character has the special scopes, which can track enemies. The status of what is seen just comes up. It is like something off of Robocop or something. Also, you can use UAV pod, which can track enemy locations from afar. It is a cool view from up top. You can control it to go anywhere. Be careful!!! It can be shot at. The weapons are great. The coolest one is the camera gun. You can actually fire at a target around a corner. You can also get a mule, which is an armored ATV, which houses weapons and ammunition, in case you get low. It can be controlled, as well. You can control tanks. Man, when you order them to fire at something, it hits with a purpose. You can control helicopters, as well. The only problem with this is there are time, which you have to control the team and multiple vehicles. This can be annoying. The graphics are good, but not quite as great and animated COD4. The characters and their uniforms are very detailed. In fact, they look better than RB6V. There are also some real-life features on the game, such as being able to hear wildlife and rocks falling from caves and trees blowing, after a grenade blows. The gunfights are pretty cool, much like RB6V. I like RB6V-2 because it is more tactical. I like to have close quarters and long distance battles. There are a few flaws in the game. The most notable flaw is the reloading. While the character is reloading, he moves his hand and everything. There is the clicking sound, as if the clip is being changed. The problem is that the clip never comes out. This is sooooooo irritating because it is not realistic. How can they have such a flaw on a PS3 game? This is not PS2, Genesis or Nintendo. They definitely need to fix that on the next game. I have not been able to play online because it is hard to get into games. On the CODs, at least a player can get into a game, despite coming in late. Other than that, the game is pretty good. It is definitely worth buying..........for its low price....more info
- Wonderfully Done...Wish the SP Campaign was much longer
This is a fantastic game.
I have had no framerate issues so far.
The graphics are superb.
The explosions are awesome!
I love the use of drone, mule, teammates, air support.
What I wish they "fixed"
Make coop split screen have the same functionality as the single player mode. In other words, have the drone more operational, have a squad of AI, even if it is two for you, and two for your split-screen friend, etc.
I thought you could send your squad mates in differing directions from each other, but it seems you can't...you only have "regroup" and "go to", but it is for all of them. I could of sworn I saw a game review where it shows that you can tell each teammate precisely where to go...
Have a longer single player campaign.
Have that multiplayer map pack that they have made for the Xbox 360.
- Great mission design, solid graphics, cool weapons and gameplay. Online mode problems keep this game from being great.
- Graphics are phenomenal. This is what Rainbow Six Vegas should have looked like! Lighting, environment, menus, everything looks amazing.
- Sound: excellent. Crystal clear, with good use of surround sound.
- Gameplay: controls are relatively easy, although leaning against a wall can be tricky.
- Interesting missions: the missions all have something unique that keeps your interest level up. The video cut scenes are a nice touch. Typically each mission requires a different weapon set to effectively complete it.
- Online mode constantly loses connection. Very frustrating to be doing well through 75% of a game, only to have it end prematurely due to a lost connection. And this isn't a problem with my connection, because other games (ex. Resistance) work great online. Some lag issues during online play as well.
- Team control is tricky, and they oftentimes don't listen to your commands. I also found the team getting in the way a lot; at critical moments that can be very frustrating.
- Some control issues: using cover can be tricky. Some aiming controls are tricky too. Controlling the flying camera and tank is tough too....more info
- Best Ghost recon yet
I am currently renting this game and have almost beaten it. The Graphics are stellar, the best i've seen on a PS3 game yet. I'm not sure how it did compared to the Xbox 360 version, but for PS3, this is definitely one of the better games.
You can switch between over-the-shoulder view, and first person, although in first person you can't see your weapon, unlike the prequel. The new zoom functions on the weapons are a nice touch, along with the ability to hold your breath and steady your weapon. Has many more features than any of it's predecessors, including the new spy-drone, MULE, and biographical data on your enemies, i.g. their health readout display.
The cons: Multiplayer seemed to be more directed towards an online audience, and if you do not have internet, it may seem frustrating to set up a game at home for multiplayer. Steep learning curve, for a new person it might take a couple training levels to learn how to use all the controls. The multiplayer could've used a bit of a revamp for more levels and modes of play. The game occasionally freezes up, typically after 3-4 straight hours of play.
Pros: Weapons details are much more realistic than any other Ghost to date. Explosions are at an all time high with this new Ghost. I like the unparraleled joy of filling a vehicle full of lead that the enemies are hiding behind and watching it blow debris everywhere and mushroom-cloud smoke into the air while it wipes out all the enemies in a huge radius.
There are several new selections of weapons to choose from than any before.
Overall, has the potential to be the best First person shooter PS3 in th market, a fine example of what Blu-ray can do in the right hands....more info
