Customer Reviews:

  • Makes notebook computer use easier at my desk.
This item is extremely easy to set up and use. Does just as advertised, the notebook screen is up closer to eye level and the full size keyboard makes typing faster and easier. It is also great having volume keys because my new Vaio does not have seperate volume controls, it needs to be accessed with the function keys. Now I can control volume easily. Works with new Vista operating system and it's nice having extra USB ports. Make sure that you have a USB mouse, because using touchpad is difficult with the computer on the riser. I'm very happy with this purchase....more info
  • Great product with one basic flaw.
This product delivers all that you expect out of it. the keyboard is great, and the extra USB options really help out a lot. It also gives your notebook a good position so you don't have any neck pains.
I had one basic issue with the Alto, that the USB ports don't get enough power supply to charge your devices like music players. For that you need to connect it to a power supply by an adaptor which has to be purchased. SO all in all I would recommend it, but want to tell you that you have to charge your ipod from your notebook USB....more info
  • Office any where
Great for an office on the go. I travel a lot and need a full key board for typing, graphics and key pad for number entry. This device makes it very comfortable to work on kitchen table or hotel room desk. It is well built and solid which is suitable to pack in your larger suitcase.

    I highly recommended it.

  • Extremely Useful Mobile Office
The rubber that holds the notebook is a little slippery, and the notebook tends to slide.
The outside can get a little dirty and sticky.
More USB ports can be included.
No power cable included for the USB hub.

The pen space in front of the keyboard is pretty cool.
Can accomodate both 15" and 17".
    Well constructed and light....more info

  • Logitech Notebook Stand
Great product! Less expensive than docking stations, this stand brings the notebook screen up to eye-level relieving neck strain. It also features 3 USB ports and keyboard features not available on laptops including a number key pad. It also folds-up and is totally portable in my notebook backpack....more info
  • Nice design
works great with any laptop , need to be careful with this item though a little weak...more info
  • Great product. Mouse is needed as well
This was a great buy. Though the product description says it is portable...it is pretty bulky and won't fit in many snug laptop bags. Otherwise, I find the keyboard great and my laptop doesn't seem to overheat even though the vertical support of the stand has no vents, there is a gap between the laptop and the vertical support. I can also rest a book/paper I am using against the laptop keyboard making it convenient to read and type notes.
I am very satisfied. Users who only use the touch-pad of their laptop will have to buy a mouse since the angle of the touch-pad becomes too awkward for use.

  • Does exactly what it says it will
I use an ultraportable laptop at my desk on a regular basis, which was becoming rather uncomfortable for my neck and back. I now use the Alto at my desk all the time and it has greatly improved my posture. In addition to the raised screen I find it very handy having an integrated full size keyboard, numerical keypad, and USB hub all in one. It should be noted that this is not as good as a proper external monitor, keyboard, and dock setup. However it does come in a close second if you do not have space for those items (although the footprint for the Alto is also quite large). For whatever reason some of the function keys don't work for me (such as the volume keys), which may be irritating if you want to use them a lot. All in all I am very happy with this product and would recommend it. ...more info
  • Great laptop stand!
Very nice, well constructed, gorgeous design. I have multiple laptops on my desktop and this works great for keeping it all looking nice and clutter free. Makes the screen sit up at eye level, and the keyboard has a perfect feel and finger response for working all day on them.

It would get a 5 from me if not for two things: The USB hub works as an unpowered hub, but if you want a powered hub you have to buy an adapter and I cannot find where they sell one, so am assuming you have to go to RS or somewhere and get a universal. And it would be a perfect score if they added cooling fans into the base to cool the bottom of the laptop, although I should not complain because my laptop feels very cool on top of it even without fans, so maybe they know more than I do.

All in all, you will love it and recommend it also after you use it....more info
  • Great product
Just what I was looking for. I need a number pad for my job and the full size keyboard works great....more info
  • Great if you want neck pain
This product takes too much space and raises the notebook too high. the mechanism of holding the notebook is also rather flimsy. Its only use is as a USB hub and it is far too expensive for it. If you have so much space , it is simpler to get a normal USB keyboard for much less. The ideal solution is of course a docking station. Yet another innovative but overpriced and poorly designed logitech product....more info
  • Fantastic product
So good to have the screen high, and the big keyboard that you do not have to look for the numbers. ...more info
  • Use on a Grippy surface!
Do not put your laptop on this product without a good gripper pad under it to hold it in place! I LOVED it for the 20 minutes I got to use it. BUT with my 15" laptop it was top heavy and unstable. The bottom was too smooth on my smooth tabletop. It was bigger than I thought and the edge was just over the edge of my laptop table. A little jiggle and the whole thing slid, then fell over! SCREAM! My laptop is DEAD and being shipped off for a new hard drive. SCREAM! ...more info
  • buy the wireless version instead
I own both the wireless and non-wireless version of Logitech alto laoptop stand. I have to say the wireless version is much better choice.

    Pro of the non-wireless version:

    1. good keyboard
    2. no battery needed to make it work
    3. overall ok functionality for laptop stand

    Cons:

    1. some laptop may not stand still on the rubber stopper as some other people mentioned earlier
    2. no power adapter (separately sold)
    3. since keyboard and laptop support are one piece, it can be hard if you want to raise the laptop support even higher (say put a book under it) without moving the keyboard

The wireless version has all the pros but without the cons. And it is actually cheaper than the non-wireless version. What a surprise.

So buy the wireless version! The only benefit of the non-wireless version is no hassle with battery....more info
  • No power adaptor
I am using this stand together with my XPS M1210. It works well and installed easily. The keyboard is much better than the one on the laptop. It also comes with more features, but so does other keyboards. I also think the whole thing feel like too much plastic. I guess the idea was to make Alto portable. It is, but barely. At a weight over 4 pounds, it is nothing you carry around all day, everyday, at least not me.

I bought it because I don't want to buy a desktop, but like to look up or straight forward, not down, onto the screen. I hope it will make a difference, though I have had Alto for two days so I can't tell yet.

However, the big problem is that I cannot even use one of the USB ports on the Alto, because I also have a VX revolution mouse connected to the laptop. There is not enough power. I have a USB stick that I intended to use in the hub, but not now.

Thus, it has been said before, but needs to be mentioned again - the USB hub feature could be good, but only if Logitech provided a power adaptor (though this also necessitates carrying around yet another thing). for $80 they could have put in the adaptor. In fact, I haven't even been able to find where to buy an adaptor (can anyone help me, please?)
