Customer Reviews:

  • LPs to CDs at last!
I was a bit disappointed when I opened the box and did not find an instruction manual. That was the end of my disappointment. The software loads with ease and has a simple step-by-step tutorial that makes connecting equipment a breeze. Click the record button, play your albums or 45s, choose the filter to clean or de-crackle the music, and save the file. The results: some recordings turn out better than the originals! If you have LPs and a turntable, you need Spin It Again!...more info

  • Spin It Again 2.0.., Not As Advertised
Acoustica's Spin It Again 2.0 software looks very exciting to those folks who have hung onto their old records and tapes in hopes of re-recording them noise-free (or nearly so). Enter Spin It Again to rescue my records.., or so I thought. The most promising feature of this software is its "ability" to recognize and remove pops, clicks, and scratches from old records and dampen tape hiss and hum. Yes, it can do this, but it also suppresses all other information - like the music and singing - as well. The reality of this software, it's non-discriminatory, suppressing both noise and music at the same time. The software does not recognize the signature of a pop or click (removing only that identified noise), instead Spin It Again dampens all information equally. Additionally, the tutorials are disjointed and difficult to follow. If you have prior software recording experience, then your training may fill-in Acoustica's omissions. But if you're just a "back-yard engineer" you may need to take the $200 week-end seminar to understand the $40 software. Bottom line... If you want to convert old records and tapes to digital and make your old stuff sound almost new.., Spin It Again will do the digital conversion all right, but it will not remove scratches, pops, noise etc., without removing some, or a lot, of the music as well. Acoustica may have corrected their shortcomings in version 2.1.., but not likely!...more info

  • Removes Pops, Clicks Crackle and Noise with One Mouse Click
I've tried other declicking products and most were too complicated to set up, with too many filters and too many options to adjust.

All I wanted was to get the noise off my LPs so they would sound the way they did when they were first played.

Spin It Again did the job with ease--including removing that annoyong "crackle" that is on some LPs.

Buy this. It is a no-brainer. It works....more info
  • It works
I was a little worried since I am not a real tech person. To my surprise the program was very easy, I did not have to buy anything else to make it work. When I was confused about the settings, couldn't get it to work at first, I found the tech support to be very helpful, and immidiately the question was solved. I am very pleased with the purchase and would recommend it to anyone. ...more info
  • LP to CD works
Having tried Roxio and Pyro without full success, Acoustica converts LPs to CDs with ease. Very, very impressive.

No trouble loading the software, went directly to work, very simple to set up, removing hiss and pops -- just let the software do it automatically. Thanks for the previous reviews, they were on point....more info

  • Nice Software for Converting Vinyl
I bought this software primarily so I could convert some of my records and tapes to MP3 files, and overall it works quite well. It installed easily, has a very intuitive interface, and is surprisingly fast at saving out the converted files. I haven't used to record anything (I prefer to record my vinyl onto CD-R's using my stereo setup and then import that file into the software). But the conversion function of the software is pretty cool.

The way I use this is to record an entire LP onto one CD-R with no track breaks. I then import that continuous track into Spin it Again and edit the file. Spin it Again is able to pretty accurately find the track breaks, and allows you to dial in the exact start/stop points. It has several filters also that are intended to clean up vinyl pops and tape hiss.

There are quite a few filters built into this, some for records and some for tapes. Of the vinyl filters, the only 2 that work well are the Light Cleaning and EQ filters. The more aggressive filters wipe out too much of the high end to be usable. And the Light Cleaning is still hit or miss, depending on the source recording. I have an old Deodato record full of minor pops, and it totally removed them and sounds great (the EQ filter helped also). But on a Harry James big-band record in similar condition, the same Cleaning filter badly distorted the high end, and the EQ just made it sound thin and tinny. I suspect the filters work better on pop music than jazz/classical, but I haven't used it enough yet to know for sure.

A couple of minor quibbles with the software: The default settings for how it recognizes track breaks are not quite right. The first time I used it I got many false breaks that had to be manually deleted. But you can tweak the noise threshold settings downward, which helps immensely. I also wish the graphic interface was larger. There's no option to go full-screen, and you have to continually zoom in to see any detail on the stop/start sections. Unfortunately, every time you move to a new section of the music, it zooms back out automatically, so you keep bouncing around with the zoom.

Another minor issue is the album lookup function, which works most of the time but not always. I also wish you could edit the track numbers (they default out starting at 1 and going up, which is not necessarily the order you want them in). But if you have an MP3 file editor like Media Monkey (which I highly recommend), you can fix all that after you export the tracks.

Given the relatively low price, I'd definitely recommend this for anyone wanting to convert their vinyl. It's fast and easy to use, and will do a good job converting vinyl in decent shape to something listenable on a nice system. It's a really neat piece of software!...more info

  • Wow!
Unbelievable. I got a USB turntable for Christmas, packaged with 2 LP-to-MP3 software packages. One was simply too basic, even though I'm not very technical. The other seemed like it would work fine for audiophiles, but it was just too complicated. So I bought Cakewalk Pyro 5. Not bad, but I was still working too hard. I came across these reviews on Amazon and downloaded the free trial from Acoustica. Fantastic, right off the bat. Blew the other 3 products away for ease of use and great results. Incredibly intuitive with very good help online instructions. I can't say enough good things about this product. ...more info
  • Works Well
Does what it says! only problem is you have to move your computer to where your record player is and it takes awhile to record a whole album as you have to listen to the entire song while it records. otherwise, it's great! Took all day but i now have 3 new cd's to listen to in my car of my old favorites! ...more info
  • Great way to bring back the oldies
Upon reading the software highlites,I couldn't wait to get started.I have tried several programs, with limited results. WOW, was I surprised. One program to enhance the recording, normalize the volume and file the completed song in my library was delightful. I'm sold. You really get your monies worth. ...more info
  • Amazing!
We have been using Spin It Again for about two months now and it is absolutely fantastic! No hardware to install or configure. Just install the program, run a cable from the headphone jack on your stereo to the line-in or mic-in jack on your PC, and you are off and running. The clean-up filters work great and remove all the little pops and clicks common to LP's and removes the hiss from cassette tapes. Once you record a song, you can choose to burn it to CD or save it as MP3. Or both! The program is very easy to use. If it is available, you can download information on your album, or manually type it in. This is one of the few programs that I can truly say is worth the money! I highly recommend this product!...more info
