  • Good Things Do Come In Small Packages
Wow, I'm a big fan of fried foods, homemade french fries especially fried in Canola Oil. I've used industrial restaurant sized fryers and worked from a stove top. This little puppy is probably one of the best little friers I've ever seen.

Most of the negative view of this fryer can be solved by simply reading the instruction booklet. Number one complaint, the cord falls off. Well yes it does, and that is by design. The cord is held into it's socket on the fryer side with a magnet. This is so you can unplug the unit without pulling the fryer over and burning yourself with hot oil. It's a common mistake, thinking the cord is broken. If you plug this in, attach the magnet end and don't move the frier, it will not come unplugged.
Number two complaint, the basket is flimsy and falls over itself. It does not do that if you install the handle correctly. You have to squeeze the two sides and slip the pins into two holes and under a tab - the handle will never ever move in this position.

Here's what I love about this appliance, it uses a small amount of oil - around a quart / liter. We don't have fried foods very often, and I don't cook a whole chicken at once. It's just perfect for those side dishes - appetizer mozzarella sticks, egg rolls, jalapeno poppers, etc. You can do chicken fingers, fish sticks, donuts in here. Food cooks evenly and quickly. Heat up time is around 3 or 4 minutes. Cooking time varies a lot, but can be around 3 or 4 minutes.

The cover is ingeneous - it closes down tight around the top and the basket so no splashing of oil happens. Cook on the counter top with no fear of splashing oil everywhere. The carbon filter shouldn't be cleaned every use, and it prevents splashes from coming out of the lid. The clear window, can see that oil will cloud that up over time, but it's handy to see inside.

Frankly, I love this unit. It's well built, solid construction, feels good in use. Cuisinart built a good small fryer in this unit. ...more info
  • Great!!
I love this fryer! Its just the right size for my kitchen. Its not big and bulky like other fryers. Its easy to clean too. Its a winner in my book!...more info
  • mini fryer
This is a nice size fryer if you have limited counterspace. It's also good if you make small size portions. Although it has a replaceable charcoal filter it still smells up the house. It's also easy to clean....more info
  • Big loser in a small package
I have had this fryer since November 2006. At first, this little fryer seemed to be the greatest. My family uses a fryer very often, and we have had several larger ones. That being the reason this one seemed so appealing, the size. There are many problems we have encountered with this. The basket has folded up many times when emptying out hot food resulting in 3 burns. The tab on the top which houses the filter broke off within the first 2-3 cleanings and the plug continually falls off the back. I have also had the oil spurt out the top filter. The size is the only positive thing I can say about this fryer, all the other I have owned were very big and bulky. In the end size does matter, I will go back to the larger one....more info
  • Cuisinart Deep Fryer
This is a wonderful little appliance for 2 people. My only fault with it is that it is made for right handed people. It's too bad the basket can't be set toward the left or the drain area built on both sides. It is a minor thing as most left handed people have learned to adapt to right handed products. It works wonderful and is a nice size. Easy to clean also....more info
  • I Love This Little Fryer
This is a perfect little fryer for two people. It heats up quickly and holds it temperature very well for a small fryer. The handle on the basket is easy to attach and remove, which makes it easy to put it inside the basket with the power cord for storage. The basket and lid can be put in the dishwasher for easy cleaning. The non-stick interior is not Teflon, but looks almost like a ceramic coating and is very easy to clean. The pouring spout on one corner is surprisingly efficient. Pouring the contents into a funnel with a cheesecloth liner is easy and effectively filters the oil to be saved for another day. I would recommend this fryer to anyone who wants to fry a small batch of food for two people.

Contrary to another review I read here, the exterior is brushed stainless steel, not plastic. And the handle stays in place nicely if you squeeze the metal parts together and insert them into the tab provided. It is a very well made small appliance....more info
  • Deep fryer not as advertised
I was disappointed with this item. Number 1 it has no timer as in the description. It is small and takes long to recover heat when you put in food to deep fry. ...more info
  • Great and Small
I like this fryer. I fried a lot of Japanese-style food for a family of 4 and there is no oily smell in the house afterwards. It took me a while though. It is all right since I do not want a large appliance on my countertop anyway and that was why I bought it. The fryer is ideal for frying chicken nuggets, shrimp and even Tofu. I gave it 4 stars coz it is really small. It is too small if you are thinking of frying bone-in chicken sich as chicken breast. ...more info
  • Cuisinart Fryer Excellent For 2 People
This little fryer is a great size for the 2 of us. It holds the temp great and so easy to cleanup. Everything about it is well thought out for the consumer....more info
  • Great Frying with just a little oil!!
Great fryer. I had a larger one that took a 1 1/2 gallons of oil and took up a lot of space. This one doesn't take up much space and only uses about 16 ounces of oil. Have cooked chicken nuggets and fries for the grandchildren and it works just fine. Max temp is 375 and it does just fine....more info
  • Small Package..Big Stinker
I bought this for the size and reviews said it was great for 2 people. Following the owners manual recipes, I 1st tried french fries with 2 medium potatoes and it took over 1 1/2 hours from start to finish. Good taste but too much time. The oil was filtered and stored for the next use. The 2nd job was chicken fingers, which I again followed the owners manual-they were homeade, hence no ice crystals, and I used the recommended temp. When the basket gets anywhere near the oil, it starts splattering and because of the design, you can't close the lid while dropping the basket; it's on the other side. You can't reach over to close it because you will burn your arm as I did from the splattering oil. The oil will even splatter after the lid is closed. Bad and dangerous design.

The charcoal filter might as well be a piece of paper because it does nothing for the odor. Breadcrumbs and/or coating drop to the bottom and burn while frying more servings, it renders the oil useless and it must be thrown out as soon as possible because the greasy stench remains in the air forever. (opening windows, using candles and bowls of vinegar & lemon does NOT help) Be prepared to change oil for each frying as filtering the oil is a worthless and painstaking effort-the fry/burn odor remains both in the oil and in your home.

Last, the "magnetic" cord is continually falling out, another dangerous design. Don't waste your money, if you really want this particular model, I'll send you mine....more info
  • If you love fries, you must have this
Cleaning is easy, just boil water with soap. First, wait 2 hours after the oil has been cooled down, then drain the oil to a bowl. If you think this is too much work, then this product is not for you. For cooking frozen fries bought from supermarkets, this deep fryer is outstanding. For frying everything else, you'll also love this. This is an excellent size, if you need to fry a lot in the same setting, just keep draining products and frying for multiple times. There are lights telling you whether the oil or food is ready or not. If you love fries and don't want to pay for fast food prices, buy it! It'll pay off....more info
  • Not big enough for a family of four
I just purchased this product, based in part on the reviews I read and because of the great price. However, it is much smaller than it appears and the single basket is tiny! One small potato cut up for fries would practically fill it. I'd give it 5 stars for looks, because it is a nice looking machine, but it just doesn't stack up to my old fry daddy for size. In all honesty, we are not even going to try it out, so I don't know how well it works. This one is going back to Amazon (thanks to Amazon for the easy return process) and we will continue shopping for something much larger to fit our large "fried-foods-are-our-friend" appetites....more info

I have a family of 3 and is so pratice the size of this deep fryer, I love it!!!...more info
  • Very good home frying
This is a stylish little unit that offers really great tasting results. My one complaint is that it is not dishwasher safe and you have to wash the main housing completely by hand. But it looks good on the counter and produces crispy tasty fried foods, so pretty good for the price....more info
  • Nice For Two Servings...
...but I am baffled as to why a good bit of the batter sticks to the bottom of the basket no matter what. I've used two different batter recipes, have thick and thin-coated the items, use peanut oil, tried heating the basket or keeping it out until loading, cook only 4-6 items at a time, always add items only when it has heated up to Ready...dunno. Other than that, it's compact, stores well, heats up fast and evenly, cooks beautifully, no spatters, easy to drain and clean, no scratches. I almost want to throw food in without the basket and then fish out with a spider or tongs.

For the price, a great deal....more info
  • Teflon coating is wearing off too much.
This is not a stainless steel appliance as the description indicates. It is plastic with a metal looking trim. It is a very cheaply constructed item. I think you can get a better value in white colored unit. The non stick coating began wearing off after the first use....more info
  • Big Disappointment
I got this fryer yesterday and was very excited to use it because we have two little ones so we thought it was the perfect size for the amount of food we needed to fry instead of having to heat up a larger deep fryer. Unfortunately our unit didn't get the oil hot enough so our chicken nuggets and fries would sit and soak up all the oil. I've used other fryers before and this one is by far the worst. I'm not sure why it didn't heat up but we are returning this one and going to try out another fryer....more info
  • Excellent little fryer!
This little fryer is perfect for our family of 3. We don't fry things often, but when we do it's so easy. Easy to use and clean, and doesn't take up a lot of cupboard space. I guess it wouldn't be good for a larger family, but we love it!...more info
  • Fantastic fryer
I have cooked fish and fries since receiving this item and very pleased. The food cooks evenly and the nice size basket allows you to put a larger quanity of food in for a compact fryer.Easy to clean and fits just perfectly under my counter. Cuisinart products have always been good to me....more info
