- great looking, sleak, elegant and good value
I would recommend this product, it is elegant, sleak abd great looking unlike a lot of kettles you can get today. It is good value, holds ample water and boils quickly. It is also fun to watch the bubbles as they boil.
- Fantastic kettle
I've had this for over a year and am 100% satisfied. Like many others on here, I bought this to reduce my exposure to plastic residues and my food. Unlike many others, I've never had any issue with untoward smells even from the get-go. Maybe because we're on well water so no chorine or chlorine byproducts to break anything down?
Kettle heats water quickly and efficiently and I love that you can see how much water is in the kettle, as well as how far along in the boiling process it is. Way faster than the teapot on the stove! We're even buying another one to put in the guest house we like it so much. This is one of those products that just works exactly as advertised and quickly becomes part of your daily routine....more info
- Great Tea kettle
I'm lucky I didn't read some of these reviews before buying mine. I have owned it 3.5 years and have never had problem. I also own their coffe-maker and love it too. ...more info
- Should have bought Cloer
I bought the glass Capresso kettle but am unhappy with the small switch on the handle because you can't tell if the pot is on. It smells like hot plastic and was made in China; the glass is German Schott. The glass does not cover the heating element. The heating element is a stainless steel (or chrome) dome in the middle of the kettle that sits on what I believe to be a silicon ring. Thankfully, I can get my hand in there through the spout to wash it (I am 5'11" male). When it dies I will certainly replace it with Cloer....more info
- Capresso glass water kettle
I am very satisfied with the Amazon service and the product myself. Helped my dad research this to purchase for my mom. She is very satisfied with the glass kettle, since we had previously used seen (& used) it at a family members house.
Quick boiling, safe to touch after heating and just the right size make this water heater very sweet. Amazon did a great job delivering it to the right address and kept me informed of its progress. For this product, Amazon did a great job!...more info
- Capresso Tea Kettle
We are totally thrilled with our Capresso after years of yucky metal tea kettles (WHAT could be living in there??) and then buying a really expensive glass one and breaking it within a few months. The Capresso is sturdy, great-looking, instant hot water at the perfect temp, so easy to use...it's THE one!...more info
- Excellent Performance
Capresso 259.03 H2O Plus Glass Water Kettle, Polished Chrome
A beautiful appliance that is as functional as it is attractive. The kettle heats a full pot to boiling within two minutes, turns itself off, and is pretty enough to leave out on the counter. I read other reviews stating that there was a wierd burnt plastic smell emitted with use - and it almost scared me off. However, I did not experience anything of the kind, I could not be happier with this appliance, and I use it every day. Great product!...more info
- quiet, pretty, quick, odorous
I love it except the odor of new-machine; the tea water tastes like the odor. I first thought it was newness & would wear off, but I'm having doubts. I wonder if the silicone seal around the heating element cover produces the new-machiney taste....more info
- Pay for a terrible taste and smell
This electrical kettle is a total waste of money. The water becomes smelly and tastes like a some strange chemical. I hope the kettle does not poison the water....more info
- Capresso 259.03 H2O Plus: A CLEAR WINNER!
We've owned a Capresso 259.03 H2O Plus Glass Water Kettle for two years and have been very satisfied with its performance, appearance and overall quality. That's why we recently purchased one for one of our daughters. The kettle is well-balanced for filling and pouring, although some steam heat may surprise the poor pourer that attempts to upend the kettle of boiling water, in order to get the last drops out. It is notably easy to keep clean; minimum water level is well-marked, and the circular stand with integrated power connector is stable and reliable....more info
- Wonderful & beautiful
Capresso 259.03 H2O Plus Glass Water Kettle, Polished Chrome This electric glass kettle is so pretty and very functional. The water boils really fast and it's fun to watch it as it heats up....more info
- Very impressed
This was a gift to myself for Christmas and after reading lot of reviews on different pots and whatnot on Amazon, I went with this one.
I've had it a week now, using it everyday and so far all I can say is how impressed and pleased I am with this pot. It looks good just sitting there on the counter, but more importantly, it functions as advertised.
I like the auto-off, it has a substantial feel to it, not cheap. The base has a rubber base, (that's where I think some smell plastic)... cause it's not the decanter... that's glass and metal.
If this pot acts up, I'll amend this review later on. So if you're looking for a hot water pot, this little gem should get consideration....more info
- Terrible smell
Believe the reviews about a bad chemical smell. I could smell it very strongly immediately after opening the box, and every time I try to boil water in it the smell gives me an instant headache, and after trying to drink beverages made with it I get a scratchy throat for a few hours. It's been cycled over 20 times and it still has the same smell just as strong as day 1. Do not buy it unless you are not affected by strong smells. The people saying we are crazy or that it has no smell must have either gotten a good batch or worked in a glue factory to the point where they wouldn't notice. Calling Capresso yields the familiar "lemon juice, vinegar, baking soda" spiel. It's fairly obvious they get calls about it constantly if they train their techs to advise those remedies, which do not work at all anyway. I can't warn against it strongly enough....more info
- Attractive Practical Kettle
I had a Russel Hobbs kettle for almost 15 years. It finally gave out on me. I could not find a replacement similar to it. I decided I might as well go with an attractive kettle since it is always out on my kitchen counter. This kettle is quick, easy to use and very nice looking....more info
- i love this kettle!
I was a little worried about putting this on my wish list because of the likelihood of getting a chemical smell... well, I got it for Sol Invictus and I am so excited!! It's beautiful and fun to watch, it works fine so far (have only had it for a week), and the smell cleared out after a cleaning and 4 or 5 non-drinking boils. I love being able to make tea all throughout the day without dealing with pans and without all the wasted energy that goes into heating water on the stove.
I love the simple design, which is contemporary without being overly modern or pretentious. I absolutely detest plastic, especially in food heating applications, so I'm glad I'll never have to upgrade again. I really feel like this is the best a kettle can get. And it's quite affordable, to boot!
Lastly, I'd like to note that I use water that's been filtered through a Brita filter. Maybe others are having issues because their water has impurities that react to the manufacturing chemicals or heating element...? Who knows.. I'm happy and totally recommend this kettle....more info
- Works Perfectly but Broke too soon
We bought this product as a Christmas gift to ourselves. It worked perfectly and very stylish on the kitchen counter. However, it died after only two months of regular use. ...more info
- Loved it while it lasted
I had this kettle for about a year. I never had any of the oft-mentioned problems of chemical smells or tastes. Boils water quickly, easy enough to use, I cleaned the dome inside occasionally with vinegar to keep it shiny and clean. No complaints really until this morning when it suddenly stopped working. Fine yesterday, nothing today. I had the kettle for just over a year, maybe a year and a week, and am debating whether to buy this one again or another. I feel like it should've lasted longer than a year but loved it while it worked....more info
- Some good, some bad
I have mixed emotions about this product. The design is certainly very attractive. The exterior is flawless, although I was disappointed that the polished crome/silver matte parts are actually plastic. It heats water faster than kettles I've used in the past. I experienced none of the "foul/chemical smell" reported by other reviewers. On the downside, mine suddenly stopped working after only 1 month of use. This is a big hassle and unacceptable for a product in this price range....more info
- Good and Bad
I like the kettle except for the fact that the chrome on the lid has developed a bubble and so I am not sure that it is real chrome or just an overlay of some kind. ...more info
- Efficient technology and great design merge into one great tea kettle!
I was a bit reluctant to purchase this product after reading previous reviews which commented on plastic and metallic smells and tastes, faulty switches, etc. I relied on the Capresso reputation and took the plunge. I have used this twice a day for almost a month and am happy to report that it works perfectly. It boils water with lightning speed, and turns itself off when it should. A great feature is that you can restart the kettle with left over water in the carafe as long as it is above the minimum water level, so if you don't use the all of the water on the first boil, you can come back to it. I am thrilled with its design; it looks so great on the counter, very sleek and gleaming. It is neat to watch the water boil right there on the counter- beats a stove top kettle any day, in all aspects. Very pleased with the purchase, and also Amazon's speedy delivery and well protected packaging....more info
- Looks Great - Smells and Tastes Bad
Kettle looks great and heats water quickly. Unfortunately, a bad chemical odor and taste is imparted to the water, possibly from a piece of plastic in the bottom. After boiling over 20 kettles of water, some with vinegar and some with lemon juice as directed by Capresso customer service, we still had bad odor and taste. Capresso customer service never answered any questions about the plastic and what it was made of. We finally gave up and returned it. BTW, its made in China....more info
- Capresso 259.04 H20 Plus Glass Water Kettle
The design is great and looks nice. The product does deliver fast and hot, boiling, water as promised; but do not leave any water in the glass container due to the plastic after taste. I highly recommend this product to all....more info
- Love it!!!
A friend of mine has this water kettle. I loved it when I used it at her house. After that, I had to have one. I love how fast this heats water....more info

This is just what I was looking for! My honey got it for me for Christmas--I love my tea & now it is ready for me whenever I want it! It boils in 'nano-seconds', it is a real eye-catcher on the counter--everyone that comes by notices & then I have to demonstrate--but so much fun! I saw it on one of those morning news shows in a cooking segment after I had recieved it--that made my day! If you enjoy tea like I do, & don't want to wait for the whistling of the tea kettle,or putting your cup in the micro, this is definatly for you! It is quick & easy & since it has a glass crafe, you can totally watch the process, which as I said takes no time @ all! Kuddos to the company for an awsome product, but most of all to my 'Darling", for getting me a gift that I adore & will use daily!!! ...more info
- Great Electric Kettle
I had a Black & Decker kettle, that was a few years old and quite frankly, rarely used. A couple of months ago we started using it twice a day, until it suddenly stopped working.
That set me on a search for a new electric kettle.
I did not have many criteria, just really three:
- It had to be cordless
- I wanted one that could be positioned in any which way on its base.
- It boiled water
I came across the Capresso on Amazon. It met my two criteria, plus I liked its size, looks and that it was glass.
I was somewhat concerned about the reviews referring to a chemical smell, but there seemed to be more good reviews than bad reviews.
It also struck me that people invested what seemed like an inordinate level of energy and emotion in, let's face it, something boils water.
Some of the reviews struck me as verging on hysteria, making it sound like the kettle was made out of kryptonite.
The Capresso arrived just yesterday. Yep, it's been here just 1 day, so let me give you my impression:
1. I'm not quite sure what the talk is about a smell. I think I have an extremely sensitive nose and it doesn't smell particularly foul, if in fact at all. It smells sort of like a kettle.
2. It boils water quickly
3. It's attractive
4. It takes up little counter space
I'm extremely pleased with the purchase and am very happy I chose it....more info
- I love this kettle
I read through all the reviews but since I really like the style of this kettle, I decided I would order it and try it myself. I have been nothing but well pleased. It is true that the interior had a very displeasing smell (I think some people referred to it as a "chemical" smell), but after about 6 rounds of boiling water it has gone away and let me say that these 6 rounds of boiling water were used to make cups of tea with absolutely no bad taste to the water at all. When the water boils and I pour it into our teacups, I immediately empty the kettle, place it back on its base, and open the lid so the interior can dry out, which is does in a very short time. Then I close the lid. Again, I am pleased with this kettle. It boils the water VERY quickly, and I love to watch it. It also looks really smart on my countertop. If you really want this kettle, I suggest you try it out yourself. ...more info
- plastic (maybe silicon) gasket/seal
I thought the other reviewers may have been too particular... and I'm getting tired of trying to find an electric tea kettle without plastic.. but they were right. the odor is very strong and that alone makes you wonder... what IS going into the water? so back it goes and my search continues. until I find that electric one, I waste energy using the ole fashion one on the burner......more info
- Simply Great
I feel that the money is very well spent. The kettle is beautiful, and watching the water boil is actually very cool :) Due to the design, the water level is very easy to see, and the water boil very fast - I usually do couple of cups at a time, and it takes about 1 min. I would highly recommend this kettle to everyone....more info
- I have owned three of these...
This will be the fourth I am buying ... so that should say something. But, yes, I got one with the "foul odor" - and let me assure non-believers that it really was a stink. From the vessel, not from the base. Boiled it a dozen times, once with vinegar, it never died away. But I never had that with the others, and Zabar's took it back (although with a quizzical look).
The first and second of these "died" - that is, something in the heating element (not the base) just stopped working. Took it apart, I couldn't figure out what went wrong. I had not saved the warranty (and anyway they were a year or more old) so I wrote it off to planned obsolescence.
This one I am going to keep track ... and, yes, I love Amazon. Horrible to hear what others have to say about Capresso customer service.
- Totally Perfect, No Funky Odor
I am a person who lives life keenly through my sense of smell, and I am a little baffled by all the reviews stating that there was a foul chemical stench coming from some people's kettles. I followed the instructions and ran water through it once, then discarded that first kettle's worth of water. There was a bit of a plastic odor with that first discarded pot, but every successive pot has been normal, and I use it a couple times every day. This thing makes for a perfect cup of tea, and does it quickly. It is much faster than boiling water on the stove, or even microwaving. I love it. I think any tea-drinker would appreciate having one of these....more info
- Does the job well
Looks elegant and boils water quickly. The stand is sturdy - with, or without the base. I like that the cord rolls up neatly underneath the stand for better storage. My only qualm is that there's lots of water marks left on the inside when it dries. ...more info
- Cool way to heat water
I like this kettle so much, that I bought a second one for my sister and am thinking of buying one for my mom. It has classic good looks and boils water in two to three minutes. What more could you ask for? I also like that it's lightweight. Filled with water, it's lighter that some of the other brands are when they are empty. I even think it's nifty that there's a groove underneath the base to wrap the cord, so you don't need to have extra cord draped across the kitchen counter.
Since a number of people have mentioned the smell, I think I should address that as well. Most small appliances that have heating elements have a smell until the oil (or whatever the coating is) burns off. In this case, the heating element is mostly enclosed. The only place it is open to the air is at the top of the handle -- and that is closed when the lid is closed. To allow the smell to dissipate, I left the lid open whenever the kettle was cooling. It probably took about a dozen uses for most of the smell to disappear since the heating element isn't actually turned on for very long during each use. ...more info
