Customer Reviews:

  • Drivers don't work
Good luck getting this one to work. I tried four different drivers - the drivers included on the CD, Windows' built-in Atheros NIC drivers, and both drivers from TRENDnet's very own web site (yes, there are drivers for each of the two different hardware versions of this card), and none of them worked. I couldn't open the TRENDnet utility, couldn't adjust Windows' wireless network settings, and couldn't start the Wireless Zero Configuration service. It also made my computer hang on two occasions. Utter crap!...more info
  • Great performance for the price!!!
I have two of these cards. No problems and installation went smoothly under Windows XP home. ...more info
  • *** NO WIN98SE Support ***
As mentioned previously, this adapter installation will NOT run on Win98SE, WinME or Win95. Don't try it. The installation utility tries to use Devcon.exe, which does not support these MS-Windows versions (ms kb 311272). Don't believe what the add says, or what's printed on the box. TrendNet support admitted that it doesn't work with Win98SE....more info
  • BAD Windows 98 Compatibility ... baaaAAAAAHHHHD Tech Supp.
The utility installer is not compatible with Win98 installer engine. So, while the product might work in their lab. under Win98, the installer doesn't let you get there to find out. The software just won't install. And, since the drivers are not resident on the CD you can't even install it manually. This is why they tell you not to plug the card into the PCI slot first. I guess the drivers are buried somewhere in the code of the utility installer. The file that you download from their website (a supposed "upgrade") is actually the same version on the CD.

Tech support is farmed out to a foreign country. These guys spoke english worse than any help desk I've run across. So, don't count on ANY T.S....more info

  • works with Ubuntu Hardy Heron 8.04
Quickly picked up by the Ubuntu operating system and determined what driver was needed. Need to have a wired connection so it can automatically download the package (driver) and install it. Works absolutely great and was easy to get there....more info
  • TRENDnet 108MBps Wireless PCI Adapter
Let me preface this by saying that I've never networked a system before. This adapter installed easily, and I had it configured in no time. Signal strength is good considering the second PC is on another floor. I thought the installation was a bit backwards though. If you have to remove the adapter for any reason... you have to uninstall the program and start over. All things considered, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase another TRENDnet adapter....more info
  • Works Great on old XP desktop
I installed this n/w card on my 2002 desktop computer running XP SP3, and it works great with blazing fast reception.

    (1) I first installed the software. IMPORTANT
    (2) Then shut-down the computer.
    (3) I then Removed the old PCI modem card and the PCI 10/100 network card that I did not plan to use again. Then I inserted the new wireless network card.
    (4) Restarted the computer.
    (5) Logged in as Administrator on the computer, IClicked on Start --> RUN --> Typed in Services.msc
    (6) In the Services dialog box looked for name , double-clicked on it and in the Startup Type set it to . IMPORTANT
    (7) To be on the safe side, I then shut-down and restarted the computer.
    (8) When the computer started back up, I was able to use the Software provided by Trendnet to do a to pickup all wireless networks; and choose the one I wanted to connect with. The Trendnet configuration software shows up in the Windows Startup Trey on the far right as a Histogram.

Hope the instructions helps anyone attempting to install this card.

  • Worked with Ubuntu Gutsy out of the box!
I am really impressed with this card. I installed it in 5 minutes in my desktop and when I powered up Ubuntu the card was detected right away. All I needed to do was select the SID and type in the password and that was it!

I dual booted into my windows XP home edition and tried to install the driver but the install failed for some reason unknown to me. I am still debugging this part of it.

Great of Ununtu (Linux), jury still out on windows.

  • it hurts my computer
This product kept causing my computer to freeze. Also, its ability to find wireless signals is unpredictable. I have the Windows 2000 operating system, which this wireless card is supposed to support. Many other users of this product have fewer problems, though. The customer support service is awful. Besides the employees having thick accents, they said that they would call me back, but they never did. This happened twice. It is probably because they did not know how to solve my problem....more info
