  • MERRELL CHAMELEON II STRETCH KANGAROO/BOA

Customer Reviews:

  • Great fit
I thought the shoes would be a little bit "softer", they have a hard mat'l insert on the heel portion which caused me to break them in for a week or two but after that they fit like gloves. I assume the heel design provides support for hiking. At any rate they fit great but I would give yourself a week of wearing them around town before heading out on a day long trail hike....more info
  • Best Athletic Shoe I've Owned
I can top that statement, as I recently shared with my wife, this shoe is the most comfortable form of footware I've ever purchased! And that is said by a man who has shoes in his closet older than Amazon's target market! In addition, for the last six months these shoes have been subjected to 2.5 miles/day for a minimum of 5 days/week (rain or shine), and they show very little wear. Their price tag can be intimidating, but these shoes are a true value.

  • Shoddy footwear
I love these shoes. They are the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned but the ones I received are poorly put together. On both feet big holes began where the stitching met the sole on the pinky toe. I returned the shoes and got a new pair of the exact same sneaker and the problem happened again. Great looking shoe and a great fit but poorly put together....more info
  • worth the expense
I bought these shoes five years ago and just now they are starting to fall apart. When i first bought them the comfort was something i could feel in my spine.I plan on buying them again because they are a superior product....more info
  • Great Shoes with a couple of personal flaws
These are great shoes. I just have a few warnings. The lining around the ankle of my shoes ripped after about a week of wearing them. The shoes are very comfortable, if you like a loose to medium-snug fit, but it is difficult to keep these shoes feeling medium-to-tight on your feet with this elastic pull system. The MAJOR concern/warning I have about these shoes is that they are very slippery when it is wet outside!! I expected an outdoor/hiking shoe like these to have a good grip...and they do on dry surfaces...but they are very slippery when it is wet outside. Especially on wet concrete stairs or wet metal grates, that one may happen to come across while hiking/walking. ---Merrell Chameleon Wrap Stretch GTX XCR---...more info
  • No break-in, fully comfortable shoes
Took these for a long hike in Arches National Park about a week after I bought them, they performed perfectly and while my feet were sore from all the walking these shoes made them as comfortable as possible. They are light and very comfortable - almost like wearing a sock with a cushioned sole. This will be the first of many Merrell purchases....more info
  • Comfortable Durability
I purchase this product several weeks ago and I love the way these shoes felt out of the box. They felt like they were already broken in and no worries of laces coming undone because they have their own lacing system built in. The Price is a little steep that the only reason these shoes didn't get a five.

    Alboogie...more info
  • Just as Good as the reveiwers said they were
I recieved these shoes fast and put them right on. UMMM Great right outa the box! They are just a tad hard for an old stiff like me to put on, but once they are on they are simply the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. All five stars for these!...more info
  • It's very good
I bought a pair last year, and enjoyed the light fit and the airy feel. No sweating however long you wear them. Although they are good for hiking, they also look stylish and are comfortable for daily use.

When I visited India a few weeks back, my brother (who has quite a few pairs himself) tried these shoes out and liked them so much, he decided to keep them for himself, and asked me to go buy another for myself!
So, I am now shopping for another pair.

Warning - they are slightly smaller than you would expect. So, I would order one size larger than normal for a good fit....more info
  • Love them
I have had mine for a year now. I just finished a weekend camping in them. I alternate between my Rainbows and these. A little bulky but worth every penny....more info
  • Great shoe
I have bought this model of Merrell shoe for 3 years in a row. This summer I detailed cars, using harsh chemicals and acids to do exteriors. After a whole summer of this these shoes still held up and look decent. I even wore them roofing 50sq on a 10/5 pitch and they kept me on the roof. Great for hiking and with a little water proofing spray they keep the moisture out in the summer and ankle deep in the snow in winter. Great shoes, and I will continue to buy them....more info
  • Awesome Hiking Shoes!
I just got back from Colorado where some buddies and I climbed Long's Peak! These are the shoes I wore for the 14 mile hike. They were super comfortable! I wore them with Smartwool socks (a must)! The one thing that surprised me most about these shoes was their grip. Me and another guy wore these while 2 of my other buddies wore hiking boots. These were far superior in grip and weight. They were never cumbersome nor did I ever have to worry about them coming untied! Once tightened - they're tight. I recommend Merrell Chameleon II Stretch's to everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FIVE STARS!...more info
  • Merrell will Discontinue these in Spring 2009.
Those familiar with the Merrell name for quality and dependability should not hesitate to give these a try. They are among the most comfortable shoes that you will ever own. Sadly, Merrell has decided to discontinue these sometime in the summer of 2009 according to many shoe stores and insiders. I bought my first pair in 2002 and they lasted over 2 and half years before I donated them due to the "looks." Amazing, They were still functionable, water resistant, and holding out. I have so impressed in the last 7 years with my previous two pairs that I am trying to "stockpile" a few more of these before they get discontinued.

Do you need a boot instead? Another great hiking or all-around shoe I like from Merrell is the Perimeter Hiking Boot if you are looking for more ankle support.

For those who like Columbia or Timberland hikers, believe me that the Merrell brand is more comfortable, durable, and easily worth the extra price you pay. ...more info
  • Merrell for LIfe
I've been looking for a brand of shoe that I could stick with. I work in a pretty casual environment and I wanted something that would be comfortable with lots of cushioning, look good with jeans, be very easy to get on and off when I'm going through airport security, durable, not too trendy but not too boring, etc. I found these on a whim and bought them because they looked kind of futuristic and cool. I've been wearing the Merrell Chameleon II Stretch for over six months now and other then a few scuffs they still look brand new. I do a lot of walking around the office and around downtown and my feet don't bother me nearly as much as when I'd wear other shoes (i.e. Nike 360s). I think it's fair to say that I'm so impressed with these shoes that I'll be sticking with Merrell as a brand for quite some time. ...more info
  • Comfort for the foot
Light weight and breathable. I recently bought a second pair of these shoes. The first pair have literally been around the world. They are the most comfortable shoes I have ever owened. Great thing about them is that when I came back from the desert I threw them into the washing machine and air dried them and they looked like new. get em' you will love em'. ...more info
