  • Kingston 1G 667MHz CL5 DDR II Fast delivery, chips work great!
    Kingston KVR667D2N5/1G 1024MB 667MHz Non-ECC CL5 DDR II ValueRAM Memory

Got the order 3 days earlier than predicted. I bought (two) 1G RAM and installed it last night, 3-31-09, and they are working great.

The only advice I have to offer is to make sure you are ordering the right RAM for your specific computer before making an online purchase. If you have any doubt about whether it will be the right RAM chip, consult with your computer manual or visit the mfg website. ...more info

  • My MacBook Pro works better now!
I had a MacBook Pro with 1GB of RAM. I like to run Parallels with Windows XP along with a lot of other Mac applications. When I did that, my MacBook would slow down and the beach ball of death would show up for several minutes. Now, with 2 of these bad boys in my computer, my MacBook runs faster and more smoothly with all these apps going.

I would strongly recommend this product!...more info

I have a Acer Aspire 3680 w/ Win. Vista and this thing worked GREAT! As you can tell by my tech. jargon, I'm not an IT pro. But this RAM really did "plug n play". I double checked the #'s, followed the instructions and when I rebooted the machine, the memory was just there. Now if the CPU could just keep up. ...more info

  • Installed in a Dell Inspiron 531
I just installed this memory in a Dell Inspiron 531. I know it's helpful to know if it goes into the exact computer you have.

It did give it a noticeable boost in speed. I have the AMD athlon 64 X2 dual core processor with dual channel memory. The memory must be installed in pairs, and this Kingston item IS a pair ( 2 modules, each 1 Gig = 2 gig total.) My computer came with 1 Gig ( 2 modules of 512MB each,)so I went from 1 Gig to 3. Don't trust the Dell Support Center software. After I installed the memory, the Dell software showed I had only 2 Gig total, but the Windows SYSTEM control panel showed 3007MB ( 3 Gig. )

Be careful, a lot of the search results you get end up being the wrong memory. Every time I thought I had the right memory it was either SODIMM memory, which isn't the right kind for the 531, or it was only a single module, not 2. This is also the correct voltage (1.8) and speed ( PC2-5300 which is the same as 667 Mhz )I wasn't concerned with overclocking, just compatability. Some of the more expensive gaming memory is rated 800Mhz but they are 2.0 or 2.1 V and might have to be manually adjusted to work, which sounded like a pain, plus I think that'w why the Amazon reviews were not as good.

The cover of the computer was easy to remove ( just 2 screws.) Be sure to have an anti-static wrist band on and clap it to unpainted metal. then you just have to push the little plastic locking handles outward on the memory sockets and install the modules. They sit easliy in the slots, but you have to push down pretty firmly to get the locking handles to pop back up. Two of the locks locked by theselves as I pushed down. I had to help the other two.

Hope this is helpful to Inspiron 531 owners.

  • works well with Asus EEEPC
I bought it for my eeePc. There are two screws on eeePC bottom, close to reset hole. One of that is covered by a sticker, which needs to be removed. I unscrewed the door, and I opened it with some force (there are also two plastic snaps). I removed the old memory widen two springs at the sides of the memory module. It rose at 45 degrees and I unplugget it. I put the new one inserting at 45 degrees and then pushing until the springs fastened it. I closed the door and put the screews. Tuned on the eeePc and it recognized immediately 1 GB of RAM with standard Xandros installation. Now it is faster expecially with heavy application like NetBeans (not installed by default).
It is a really good deal. Enjoy...more info

  • Great product,great price.
Running Vista home premium on 1gb of memory was an exercise of patience I got tired of. An upgrade to 2gb made a big difference. Opening or closing any application is like flipping a switch. There's virtually no wait. I've noticed spyware/virus scans go quicker too. The install took all of 5 minutes and my pc recognized the upgrade immediately with no problems. All this for less than $40 shipped to my door. ...more info
