About Speedo
In 1914, Speedo was founded in Australia by Alexander MacRae, a 22-year-old Scottish immigrant who arrived in the country in 1910. The company began when MacRae Hosiery manufacturers, established by Alexander in 1914, extended the manufacture of underwear to swimwear and became MacRae Knitting Mills. A naming competition was held by the staff in 1928 and won by a Captain Parsonson, who coined the slogan, "Speed on in your Speedos." In 1929, the first swimsuits were in production and it didn't take long for Speedo to successfully establish itself. World War II caused the brand turn over 90% of it's manufacturing to war production, providing the armed services with vital equipment such as mosquito nets. After the war, Speedo opened a new factory and was able to re-establish itself, due to increased demand for swimsuits. In 1951, Speedo Knitting Mills (Holdings) Ltd, was incorporated and became a publicly traded company on the Sydney Stock exchange.

Speedo hit the international stage in earnest, at the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games, and a few years later the brand grew on a more global scale. Export sales to the USA began and an international division was set up to monitor trade in New Zealand, Japan and South Africa. The expansion of the brand continued, and in 1976, Speedo was appointed as the official swimwear for the 1976 Montreal Olympics, where 52 out of 54 countries wore their swimsuits.

Speedo continues to make its mark in the pool and on the beach today. Many world class athletes who wear Speedo include U.S. phenomenon Michael Phelps, legendary Australian swimmer Grant Hackett, world record holder Kosuke Kitajima from Japan, and Holland's Inge de Bruijn.

Customer Reviews:

  • The best yet.
My son is a competitive swimmer in high school and the Speedo Vanquisher Plus goggles have always been his favorite. He has tried other ones that people have recommended but these seem to work the best. He is a butterfly swimmer so there is a lot of in and out of the water action and these Speedos don't slip at all. He also has a largish head and these fit comfortably around it and the goggles don't dig uncomfortably into his eye sockets....more info
  • Great Goggles
I've had two pair and there is nothing not to like about them unlike most other goggles. You can back off the tightness of the strap and they still seal perfectly so you can avoid eye suck. They are great! I wish everything worked nearly as well....more info
  • Great goggles but tough to change the nosepieces
I bought two of these for my 9 yr old son. He has a broad bridge so I liked the fact that there were a variety of nosepieces. The nosepieces were tough to switch out. I was afraid that I might break them. Once that was taken care of though he loved them. Once we got the righ nosepiece in and had a good fit then these were a great pair of googles. ...more info
  • Not worth it
The rubber gasket on these goggles ripped after on use, and they have fogged up more than any goggles I have used in awhile....more info
  • Good Goggles
These goggles are easy to adjust and are perfect for anyone's face (it fits my 7 year old sister and my 17 year old brother). They dont scratch easily from sand, and they are perfect to wear when it is very bright outside (gives a comfortable shade) Overall they are great goggles...more info
  • Great Goggles. Worth every penny.
I had been a big swimmer from ages 8 - 14, and still can't shake the memory of waking up five times a week at 5:30 am for morning swim practice. I recently decided to get back in the pool, though this time at the YMCA and purely for exercise and my heart and lungs etc. After looking around online for a day or so, I figured these goggles were the best. I've got a pretty big noggin, so I was a little concerned that I should try goggles on before buying them.
But after they arrived I tried them out at the pool. That was 3 weeks ago, and I have to admit I can't find anything wrong with them (hence, the 5 stars). They have a soft elastic headband that is adjustable, and doesn't pull at your hair like the more rubber band-like cheaper versions. But the main thing is: they don't leak, or fog up, are way comfortable, and give you crystal clear vision underwater. A streamlined design means you get a fully functional pair of goggles that are small, sleek, and good for those who want to race, or just cruise back and forth for an hour.

If you buy these you've made a good choice!...more info
  • functional and great looking
i bought a pair just because i thought it looked better than the clear ones i already have. it does look better, and, on top of that, it works: it doesn't leak and it doesn't fog they way my clear ones did. my eyes also feel rested after forty minutes in the water....more info
  • good quality product
Ordered goggles, always tricky from a size point of view. But perfectly happy with these....more info
  • awesome goggle, worth it
i bought a pair of these from amazon not to long ago, theyre great, they fit well and arent uncomfortable. i swam alot the first couple of weeks of use and ive noticed that the anti-fog coating started to wear off. i dont expect it to last forever so im not holding it against the score. other than that, no problems, feels great, no leaks, its a great pair of goggles with outstanding performance, definitely a 5 out of 5....more info
  • Great goggles
These work flawlessly, no fog, no leaks, hands down the best goggles I've found in 20 years of swimming.

Sidenote, I did have to switch the nose piece which took a bit more work than I was expecting, I was afraid I was going to break them trying to make the switch, I didn't... but be prepared to use a bit of force if you opt to switch the nose piece....more info
  • Great Speedo Swim Goggles
I purchased the goggles for recreational swim in our university pool. I swim about a mile a day and in the month that i have had the goggles, i have had no problems. my only complaint is that after a while they start to fog up; however, i think that the problem is more user error than product error. Overall, great goggles, great product!...more info
  • Great No-fog Goggles
These goggles are light, and fit well. They come with different size nose strips to adjust to different faces. The no-fog technology works very well, and the light filters are truly effective in high-light conditions. I haven't tried them indoors so I can't say if the tint is too dark for indoors. Best goggles I ever bought....more info
  • Great product, nice value
Based on the reviews here on amazon and on speedo, I decided to purchase these goggles. I have a small bridge, so it's been difficult to find goggles that fit well. These goggles are great. I hardly had to do much of an adjustment with the nose piece. With my long hair, the bands do not catch strands like other goggles. The seal is wonderful and I had no problems with leakage. I highly recommend. ...more info
  • Awsome
Again the product got here early. These are goggles and they work perfectly like goggles should...more info
  • Very nice swimming goggles
These are a set of very nice swimming goggles. Works very good in sunlight as well as when the pool is indoor. The glassy surface tends to get some touch marks which require a soft cloth to clean up but its ok, it does not damage your goggles or obstructs you view while swimming. Comes with 3 nose-hooks which you can choose according to which fits you well....more info
  • Relief at last
    Thank you, Speedo.
I have been an avid lap swimmer for over 20 years (competitively for the first 6 of those years) and of all the goggles I have owned through the years (many pairs), these are the best I've used.

Since I started swimming in a different pool for the last couple of years that is outdoors, the sun really started to bother my eyes. That, and though I was used to using the old trick of keeping a little water inside the goggles to clear fog, I was getting tired of the fogging up.

I've used these Speedo goggles several times and not only are they dry inside but fog free. The darker, mirrored tint makes me look weirdly intimidating, but who cares... they are much darker than regular goggles with a "smoke" tint and do wonders for outdoor swimming.

The suction is great--I didn't even need to push them into my sockets with the heels of my hands. The rubber is nice, and I like that the strap adjusts in the back and not on the sides of the head.

The plastic case they came in broke as soon as I opened it, though, but I found a nice, hard case for sunglasses at the store and use that for the goggles instead--it would be a pity to scratch the mirror surface or inside the goggles. I'd recommend getting yourself some kind of hard sunglasses case for your pair as well.

A swimmer's dream, and well worth the money....more info
  • The best goggles I've ever used
These goggles are the best goggles I've ever used. They don't leak and they barely leave a mark around my eyes. The double straps keep these goggles in place. Infact, you don't have to go too tight with the straps. I used them right out of the box and they were perfect. ...more info
