Product Description

5 QT, Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron Dutch Oven With Eared Loop Side Handles.

The American-based company Lodge has been fine-tuning its construction of rugged, cast-iron cookware for more than a century. No other metal is as long-lasting and works as well for spreading and retaining heat evenly during cooking. Lodge's Logic line of cookware comes factory pre-seasoned with the company's vegetable oil formula, and is ready to use right out of the box.

At 10-1/4 inches in diameter and 4 inches deep, this 5-quart Dutch oven holds a heap of chili, chicken and rice, or fruit cobbler. This model is not the campfire style, with legs, wire handle, and a lid for coals. This one is flat-bottomed to sit on a stovetop burner or in the oven, with a domed lid that sends moisture back into the pot. Loop handles aid in carrying with oven mitts. While the Dutch oven comes pre-seasoned to prevent food from sticking, it works best when sprayed or lightly coated with vegetable oil before use. After the meal is done, simply scrub the cast iron with a stiff brush and hot water, no soap, and dry immediately. Lodge covers the sturdy oven with a lifetime limited warranty against defects, and when cared for properly, this virtually indestructible pan should last for generations. --Ann Bieri

  • Graet value
With free shipping to Hawaii, this item cost less than what I could have gotten it locally. I bought six of them for my Boyscout troop, so the savings were even greater....more info
  • Cast iron dutch oven
The quality and constuction of this cast iron dutch should give us a life time of use. We are most likely only going to make bread in it and our first attempt produced a perfect home made loaf. Cleaning of the produce was simple as long as you followed the manufacture's recommended instructions. ...more info
  • Lodge Dutch oven
I bought the 5 quart Lodge Dutch oven primarily for baking sourdough bread and it does a super job. I have other Lodge products and they, like the Dutch oven, are first rate and as advertised. You cannot beat
    cooking with cast iron....more info
Lodge Logic Pre-Seasoned 5-Quart Dutch Oven with Loop HandlesDOES A REALLY GOOD JOB,I WOULD PREFER A LARGER ONE BUT THE WEIGHT WOULD MAKE IT DIFFICULT TO USE...more info

  • I threw it in the garbage!!!
I read the reviews and thought that this was "just what I needed". The shipping was fine, the product WAS horrible. I tried the pre-fixing before I made my soup in it. The soup was okay (Lentil) but then it never got clean again. I tried re-oiling the cast iron and that made it worse. It was rusted and never got any better. Besides this, it was as heavy as lead. I could barely lift it to take it off the stove. I asked a couple of friends what to do and/or if they wanted it. No way! So, I threw it out!! Good riddens!!!...more info
  • Great Basic Product, Great Price
This is a great product. I would rather have an enameled one, but those are a little pricey, and I got this one with a coupon from acquiring enough points on my amazon visa. Having bought this for only $5, I am very, very satisfied. If you are just looking for a basic model, this is the one to get....more info
  • Cast iron pot
As always quality really good with great value and arrived in time for weekend bake-in. These pots are very heavy but makes a scrumtious loaf of bread....more info
  • Fantastic Pot
This 3 quart chicken fryer is the addition I was wanting for my cookware. My larger dutch oven is great for larger uses, but this one is great for things that accomodate my husband and I. I roasted, at 325 degrees, yellow squash, cut into chunks, today and it was fantastic.

I cannot praise Lodge cast iron enough for the quality in their products. My next and 4th purchase will be the 10 1/4" skillet. I already have the 13 1/4" skillet and it is fantastic for pancakes and anything that requires large cooking surface.

And for you people with ceramic stove tops....NO Problem.... I have done without my cast iron pots since Hurricane Katrina and when replaced all, I got ceramic stovetop. Thought I would not be able to use the iron...but I was missing cooking in my iron pots so much that I took the plunge....NOT A PROBLEM. Just be careful not to slide around and scratch the stovetop...and for goodness sakes don't drop this heavy stuff on it either.

If you want perfect bacon, just fry in the cast iron...cannot be beat.....really for anything you want to cook.

Thank you for offering these items at such a reasonable cost.......more info
  • Best for Kitchen or Camp Stove
I own a slightly older version of this model. I've owned it for about 8 years now and it has never let me down. This particular design isn't really intended for outdoor/camping but would work very well for that purpose if you set it on the cooking grates of your charcoal grill or on your camp stove. I will only purchase Lodge cast iron Dutch ovens and fry pans. Others just don't have the density and weight. The only problem I have with this design is the lid, which has small spikes that are supposed to allow "self basting." Do these spikes do what they are intended to do? I don't really know. But, one thing the spikes do is make it hard to clean and evenly oil the lid. This is only a slight inconvenience and really would only cause me to mark this down a half star but that isn't an option so I will give it 4 stars. One other thing I need to mention concerns purchasing Lodge products that are pre-seasoned. The pre-seasoned products are more expensive and I don't really think they are seasoned very well. I recommend you still season the cast iron as you would an unseasoned item. Better yet, purchase an unseasoned item if available. The only thing the pre-seasoned items save you from doing is scrubbing and washing the wax coating off of the product....more info

Lodge has excellent products. Very happy with this purchase. Bought it on sale and couldn't be more pleased....more info
  • Dutch oven
I love dutch oven cooking, but wanted to get an oven I could use on the stove as well as outside. This one was just the right size for that purpose. Of course it works great, but using it on the stove you have to remember to lower the stove temp after awhile just as your outside coals decrease in temperature. I still have some indoor learning to do with it, but I really like it....more info
  • Lodge 5 Quart Pre-Seasoned Dutch Oven
I should have bought one of these dutch ovens years ago. A very practical addition to our kitchen as we have four cast iron frying pans of various sizes. Now that Lodge has pre-seasoned pans they are very simple to use. You have to love cast iron cookware. It is the best in all respects. Importantly, I was able to purchase the dutch oven through for approximately one-half the price offered by some retailers. A very good deal for an excellent addition to our kitchen....more info
  • Love my Lodge
I bought this Lodge Dutch Oven after getting their 12 inch skillet. Since then I've added a 10 inch chef's skillet, 10 1/4 inch regular skillet and the 19 inch grill/griddle combo.

The dutch oven has made some of the best pot roast, bbq pork, and so on I've ever eaten!

    I'm hooked....more info
  • Great!
Not only is this great as Dutch ovens go it's good enough that I've expanded my use of the Dutch oven! Five qts is a good size. It's not so large you are going to confuse it with a stock pot, but it's more than large enough for everything I've wanted to use it for.

It's heavy enough construction to really hold heat but not so absurdly heavy that it's hard to handle.

The MSRP on these makes them one of the best values in the kitchen; the price on Amazon makes it a real steal. No kitchen should be without one.
