Customer Reviews:

  • Great KVM
This KVM comes complete with the cabling needed to connect two PC's to a single Keyboard/Mouse/VGA Monitor. Note that these are PS-2 connectors for Mouse/Keyboard.

Switching is done via a fast "double-Strike" of the "Scroll-Lock" key on your keyboard. This is a cleaver way to make use of this key. (I expected there to be a "switch pc's" button on the actual KVM unit, but this is far superior!)...more info
  • Great addition to multitaskers
Great product, simple easy instructions. Makes mutitasking on two computers much easier with less desk top space. I recomend this product to all do it yourselfers....more info
  • Fine product at a reasonable price
I bought this a few days ago to connect to my Dell and Shuttle PCs. Installation is nothing more than connecting the cables, and it has performed flawlessly. No problems with video quality or non-responsive mouse when switching computers....more info
  • Good Product
It worked without any problems. The only thing that it lacks of is an option where the hotkey can be changed....more info
  • Video Degradation & Freezing Mouse
The tech specs on Amazon.com state that this product works with resolutions up to 1920x1440. However, on my 1680x1050 monitor, the video degradation was unacceptable. It flattened everything and made the video slightly, and annoyingly, blurry.

In addition, the mouse kept freezing at random intervals for a few seconds.

Both of these made it difficult to work and play, so I returned it.

I was intending to use this to switch between my main Windows machine and a box running Linux. For now, I am accessing the Linux machine via a remote desktop program called FreeNX: [..]

With FreeNX, I can't see the Linux system during bootup or shutdown, and I have to have my Windows machine on, but that's fine for what I'm doing now and it otherwise works great. It pretty much negates the need for a KVM switch, or at least can help [..]

People trying to switch between two Windows machines might want to look into similar programs, such as UltraVNC. (Windows does have a remote desktop feature, but XP Home cannot be accessed via the Windows remote desktop program.) Here's a list of some remote desktop software:

  • Quality product at a very low price
This product works great for me. The video clarity is great, although that can be dependent on the quality of your VGA cable. I bought a StarTech cable when I bought this KVM just to make sure. The cords aren't too short, and switching from one computer to the other using the hotkey is easy and quick. I'd highly recommend this KVM switch....more info
  • IOGEAR GCS62 MiniView Micro KVM Switch
Very easy to set-up. No problem with the audio that other reviews mentioned. I would highly recommend it....more info
  • Spend $20 and save $250.
I have a Linux computer and an XP Pro Computer that I often need to use at the same time. This little gem of a switch saved me the price of an additional monitor, keyboard and trackball, to say nothing of workstation space. There is only about a three second delay as the switch transfers control between computers, just about time for me to shift my own mental gears from one OS to the other....more info
  • Great Product - Especially for the Price
I purchased this to connect my computer and my kids computer to the same flat panel monitor, keyboard and mouse. Being able to switch between computers with a simple stroke of the keyboard is fabulous! There is no software to install, just hook it up and use it. Great product, and you can't beat the price! ...more info

  • Solid
Built very well and works perfectly right out of the box. I utilize two Windows PCs with 98 & 2000 for the OS. I would definitely recommend this product. - Rusty Bones...more info
  • poor video quality, low quality product
I ordered this product from Tigerdirect. The quality of the video was poor. I contacted Tigerdirect, but their returns policy was so much effort that I just threw the switch in the trash rather than deal with the aggravation of returning it to Tigerdirect....more info

  • works as advertised
I purchased several of these for use around the office. They installed with no problems and continue to work without failure.

I would buy more, but at this point I think most everyone has moved away from PS2 connections....more info

  • IOGear MiniView PS/2 KVM Switch
The unit was easy to install but several keyboards wouldn't sync with the unit. With certain programs, one of the computers keyboards would not work properly. Tried several PS/2 keyboards and had problems with them all. System was running Windows XP Pro on both computers. exchanged unit for a Trendnet uSB KVM switch from Amazon and all the problems went away....more info

  • Worked perfectly where more expensive KVMs didn't
I recently got a new machine with a PCI-E slot and NVIDIA card. My old KVM wasn't able to recognize it.

I tried four switches before keeping this one. One was less expensive, one about the same, and the other two were about $20.00 more. All of them had trouble with my mouse, an older MS Optical mouse that uses a USB to PS/2 adapter. I'd never run into that problem before, but judging from reviews of various switches, it seems to be common.

This switch, aside from taking up less room, works perfectly for me.
They keyboard combo to switch between machines has, so far, worked without a hitch. (I do like to have a button on the switch itself, in case, for some reason, it loses keyboard connectivity, which has happened to me with other switches. The lack of such a button is the only reason I'm giving this 4 stars rather than 5.)

It works perfectly with two FreeBSD machines, whether I'm running the O/S or trying out various live CDs.

On a crowded desk, the small size is a definite plus. I'm glad I tried this before giving up and buying a really high end switch. ...more info
