  • Best Indoor Grill EVER!
Not only does this grill cook to perfection but it cleans up so quick and easy that it is remarkable. No matter how long it sits unwashed, it cleans up with a dishrag and hot soapy water. I love mine. I received it as a gift and am giving it as gifts to others. Even easier and quicker then an outdoor grill....more info
  • Perfect for Japanese BBQ at home!
This grill is perfect to recreate the Japanase BBQ experience at home. Most Japanese markets will sell you marinated meat that you can simply throw on this grill with a few vegetables. Better yet, prepare your own marinades and meats.

It heats up in no time and puts the fun of cooking in your guests' hands, allowing them to cook their food at the desired crispness.

Cleaning the grill is a breeze. It has a pan to catch grease that is easy to remove and clean. The grill is non-stick so cooking residue can simply be wipped away without heavy scrubbing.

This product is ideal for Yakitori cooking too....more info

  • Awesome! Buy it!!!!
This grill is kickin', smokin' baby! City living?? Filet mignon??? Swordfish steaks?? kebabs??? Done and done! We thought this grill was gonna suck, but it rules. If you don't have a porch or have a tiny kitchen, this grill is for you. P.S. We recommend the cabernet. Grill on!

Seriously, this is the best buy for an indoor grill. It doesn't squish your food like g. foreman. The food came out perfectly and and moist. Whether its steaks or burgers, this is the grill for you!

    Grill on!!!...more info
  • just awsome
I have bought many things off amazon and have been generally happy, althought i never wrote a review for anything. However this machine deserves a review. Simply put this thing is awsome. I have used it for chicken steaks and fish and everytime it does a great job. the food comes out so good. i highly recomend it.

the only problem with it is the base could of been made out of some metal instead of plastic.

    best indoor grill.

  • Finally, a countertop grill I like
I have bought and returned three other models for the same reason: they don't get hot enough.

The Zojirushi gets hot enough that I can satisfactorily grill meat. For everything else -- vegetables, seafood, fish -- you actually have to lower the thermostat to medium or medium high. That is remarkable, considering that other types I tried had to be on high, and often that still wasn't hot enough.

I put water in the catch tray, and the smoke is minimal cleaning is rather easy too.

I wish I could have an outdoor grill, but in a Manhattan apartment, that isn't happening. This is probably the best I can get. ...more info
  • indoor magic
After researching indoor grills for quite a while, I ordered this Zojirushi grill. It has an amazing heavy weight non-stick surface. Even the stickiest of marinades will ease off with soap and water. I was worried that a product without some kind of water catch basin would flare and smoke. There was a bit of steam, but nothing like it would be if you seared the same piece of meat in a grill pan. We live in a Senior community that does not allow outdoor grills. This little gem is the answer...it is not a replacement for a gas grill, but the next best thing for anyone in the same situation....more info
  • Perfect counter-top grill
I've really taken this grill out for a spin, cooking everything from salmon, steak, ham, burgers, portabello mushrooms and various other vegetables and kabobs. It cooks much faster than I expected, and leaves really great grill marks. I'm not kidding here, they're tasty!

It is completely smokeless as others have said because the heating elements are completely covered by the grill bars, so any oil or other drippings never get a chance to hit them. Most of the juice stays in the meat anyway; I've only had a few drips in the tray, and that was marinade.

It's just big enough to feed a family of six, though I have only four (if the grandparents come over I still have some room left).

You need a bit of counter space when you use it so note the size, but the removable control + cord stores underneath the grill in the drip tray making it easy to store....more info
  • Worth Every Dollar
I purchased this grill at the same time I purchased Gourmet d' Expert electric fry pan by the same company. This grill is excellent, very little smoke, cleans so easily with it's non-stick grid finish, the steel drip pan washes clean as easily as a dinner plate and the plastic base allows me to cook on my unprotected counter top or at the table. I have cooked everything from fish to beef steak and was delighted with the results every time. I feel the same about the fry-pan; I am sold on Zojirushi products.!...more info
  • Great Grill!!
This grill is great! I really like the nonstick surface it works well for the food and clean up is quick with soap and a washcloth. I like the ability to adjust the heat from low to high and everything in between even though I only seem to use high. It makes great grill marks also! I'm very happy with my choice!! ...more info
  • Excellent
    Pros:
    - non-stick surface makes it extremely easy to clean. Charred food debris just slides off the surface.
    - base of the unit is made of plastic and acts as an insulator so there is no need to put anything under it to protect your tabletop.
    - safety mechanism built in so that grill cannot be operated without drip pan.
    - takes only 10 minutes to heat up fully.
    - grill is a heavy cast iron so holds heat well. I have seen other similar grills by companies like Sanyo and only Zojurushi uses a heavy cast iron grill.
    - heats very well. Grills meat very fast.
    - no smoke generated- not sure why, but there just isn't any.

    Cons:
    - none so far.

    Notes:
    - if you want to grill vegetables, I'd recommend coating them with some oil before putting them on the grill, otherwise the veges tend to get dry.
    - power cable is short, so make sure you have an extension cable handy....more info
  • Inside grillin'/Outside chillin'
Nothing is better than food grilled outside!! But when it is cold outside, this little grill fills the bill inside! So far we've had steaks, burgers and shrimp kabobs - all very good and done in 20 minutes from start to finish. Cleanup is fast and easy. A little spatter is to be expected from any type of cooking method. I just set the unit on my cooktop and wipe up when finished. No big deal!...more info
  • Might of been a defect, not as good as I thought
With such rave reviews on Amazon, decided it's time for my old electric grill to retire and get a new Zojirushi.

Not going to rewrite all the good parts, plenty of other reviews. Here's the problems I encountered:

    1. The electric cord that connects to the grill pan does not stay fixed. Just by lightly bumping or having a fan blowing on it loosed it and the grill had no power. This was the main reason why I was getting a new grill, my old 10yr old grill had that problem. Should not happen on a new $65 grill. Maybe it's just a defect.

    2. Slightly on the small side. Max 2 people, anymore than 2 = lot of waiting around.

    3. Smoke free - Not sure how everyone else got it to be smoke free, the smoke was clearly visible when I used it indoors. Yes, it's slightly better than my old one, but definitely cannot qualify as smoke free.

I'm a big fan of Zojirushi products, got the 10cup induction rice cooker, hot water pot, hot pot cooker, this grill was going to complete the Zojirushi set, unfortunately have to return it and try another brand. ...more info
  • Fantastic doesn't begin to describe it!
I have finally found an indoor grill that gets hot enough to make a good steak with! :)

    FOLLOW-UP:
I've now had this for about 6 months and still LOVE IT! What a fantastic grill, and I have tried many before only to give them to someone else or leave them sitting in the cabinet because they suck!

I have been making tri-tip roasts on this one and they come out fantastic! They are crunchy outside, with beautiful grilling marks, and red and juicy inside. I could not be happier!

By the way, I read the review from someone complaining about smoke. Ok, completely smoke-free is impossible, unless you have a system to suck the air out. Otherwise, anything that grills will cause some smoke. Duh! I actually put mine on the window and the smoke flies right out.

    FOLLOW-UP AGAIN:

Yeah, this is so good I have to keep talking about it. I actually just bought a second one to give to my mother because I talk about it so much she wants to try it. This grill brought back long forgotten emotions to my life. It's like falling in love again! But without someone actually here to bug me. I love it! :)

    FOLLOW-UP AGAIN AND AGAIN:

So I took the second one I bought to my mother, who can always complain about things like no one else I know... While I was visiting, we made a tri-tip roast on it. It came out perfect! But I was too excited and just kept repeating "Isn't this thing just amazing?" Mom never said anything, or if she did I was too excited to pay much attention. The meat was incredible!

I come home, and a week later I was talking with my mom on the phone when she said "Oh, by the way, that grill thing is really fantastic!" My jaw dropped! That was all she said, without the usual "but..." You know what I mean, the mother thing of saying "that thing is really fantastic, but it this or that." No, she just wanted to say it is fantastic, she had nothing to complain about! Wow...

So, to finish with a nice touch, last weekend my boyfriend was visiting and we made some fish steaks on the grill. I hadn't made fish on it and didn't really know how well it would work. It was perfect! I turned it on MAX and let it pre-heat for about 10 minutes. Then I added the fish and turned it down a bit. I let each side cook for about 3 - 5 minutes, flipped the fish, another 3 minutes, then flipped the pieces again twice more so they would get the pretty crossed marks. The fish was perfect!

    Enjoy!

    UPDATE:

Since someone asked me for the recipe for making the tri-tip roast, I thought I'd add it here for anyone who wants to give it a try! :)

    - Purchase a tri-tip roast and trim some or all the fat on the top side of it.

    - Leave it outside the fridge so it's in room temperature right before cooking it.

    - Once the roast is at room temperature, start the grill, turn it all the way to the highest heat setting, and let it get really hot (about 10 to 20 minutes).

    - Rub salt and ground black pepper to taste all over the roast.

    - Rub olive oil all over the meat. Any olive oil will do, but I usually use Star Garlic Olive Oil and it gives the meat a delicious additional flavor. Although regular olive oil doesn't have the same garlicy taste, it is still good.

    - Let the meat sit on a plate or board with the seasonings and olive oil for about 10 to 15 minutes while the grill finishes getting hot.

    - Once the grill is really hot, put the roast on it and let it sit for about 5 minutes, then turn it.

    - Turn it again, making sure you rotate the meat so the grill marks cross, then turn again.

It will take about 10 minutes total on each side (5 each time you turn), or longer. I like mine medium-rare, so if you like yours more done, you can add more time. But the outside gets to be nice and crunchy, while the inside is nice and red if you use the directions above.

Once you remove the meat from the grill, let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes so the juices settle inside the roast, then slice it as thin as you can. The trip-tip, as the name suggests, has three tips. When slicing, I usually start from the thinnest tip.

Good luck, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! :) ...more info
  • Great grill
It's a great indoor grill period. Korean bulgogi cooked on this grill was so good last night. Everyone in the family wants more. And the cleaning after was so easy too... Just rinse with hot water and soft sponge. All the food particles slide out effortlessly on this nonstick surface.
According to the instruction you preheat this grill for 10 minutes at high setting before starting cooking but after 5 minutes it's already hot. At high setting it's too hot and you'll burn the food. Ideal setting is at medium. This grill is definitely a keeper. I'll try grilling Salmon steak tonight. Happy grilling bud!...more info
  • Sadly disappointed
I had high hopes for this grill. After all, I love my Zo bread machine. However, I don't love this grill. The good points are that it cooks a decent steak or burger. The BAD points are that it smokes horribly, is very difficult and messy to clean and takes forever to heat up. If you really want one of these, look for mine soon at a Goodwill near you!...more info

I purchased this after returning the Cusinart Grill. (Which was junk). I read the reviews on this grill on Amazon and decided to try it. It's perfect, plus, my husband now does most of the cooking!...more info
  • Very pleased
The grill came a few days ago. We first tried it with a very expensive Porterhouse steak, and it was beautiful. We like our meat rare and it was easy to monitor.

This morning we tried frozen waffles (I know, but I'm lazy) and bacon. Both were better than those cooked in my toaster oven and old skillet.

We were afraid it might set off a smoke alarm which is mounted on a 14 ft ceiling and a real pain to get it to stop. I have a gas range with a fan mounted in the hood. The grill sits solidly across the burners and the fan vents any smoke up the hood and outside. Of course I can't cook side dishes until I'm through grilling, but isn't that what microwaves are for?

We haven't had it very long, but I'm so pleased I might try a vegetable.
