With the Crib CD Player, you are no longer limited to the same lullabies night after night. Just attach the CD Player to your baby's crib and put in the CD of your choice. It's not just for sleeping, either -- use it anytime to help stimulate or soothe your baby. Made with a child-resistant cover for safety, this CD player has a 15-minute timer and automatic shut-off. Also includes a soft-glow night light that can be left on during the night if you wish. Requires 2 "C" alkaline batteries (not included).
Nothing soothes a baby into slumber like music. Now baby can have a CD player right in the crib. This battery-operated CD player attaches securely to a crib rail and also has a soft-glow night-light that can be turned on or off, making it easy to check on baby during the night. This small streamlined-looking unit has a child-resistant cover to keep control buttons out of reach of curious hands. With standard CD player controls, high-clarity speakers, and an automatic shutoff, this CD player makes it possible to play your favorite CD selections in the nursery--at bedtime, naptime, or anytime. This player may also be used as a tabletop unit once baby outgrows the crib. Although this is a great product concept, many users have found that it is quite impractical, as the slightest brush against the CD player or bump in the crib causes the CD to skip. Requires two C batteries (not included). --Deb Oroszlan
- Compact size
- 15-minute timer and auto shut-off
- Soft nightlight with on/off switch so you can still see baby
- worst baby product I've ever bought!
This is perhaps the worst baby item I have ever bought. The volume on this player is so low we couldn't even here it on the highest setting once it was attached to the crib. Completely useless item! ...more info
- Waste of money buy a proper cd player
We bought this cd player when our little one was about four months old (October 2007 or so)and this thing has had problem all over the place! It skips if you barely even hit it, which is pretty annoying. It's had issues like not playing when you fast forward to another song or stops playing for no reason (batteries were brand new). Finally the thing was acting all strange just before the holidays and then finally just stopped working all together. It would spin the cd but never play anything. So we are going to spend a little more money and just buy a compact table top cd player that will be around a while. Don't waste a cent on this one!...more info
- I'm surprised!!!
I registered for this when I had my baby 2 years ago and recieved it as a gift. I'm very surprised at all the negative reviews it is getting. We have loved ours and have had no problems. I have even accidently dropped it onto the hardwood floors a few times and it didn't affect it at all. It plays well, no skipping... The battery compartment is in a strange place but we don't put the screw back in, we leave it loose and put the back of the clip back on which completely covers it up. I loved it so much I recommended my sister get one when she was preganant and as far as I know, they love theirs too. Maybe only 1 in 20 actually work right!!!...more info
- Terrible, skips!!
We bought this for our daughter's crib. It skips EVERY CD I put in it, even brand new ones... Nice idea, but not worth it!...more info
- don't waste your money
Terrible product! Don't waste your money. Worked for about a week - then started skipping. Tried different CD's, new batteries, etc. Ended up in the trash. Called 'the first years' costumer service - no answer. There are other products available that cost half the price and work much better. ...more info
- What a disappointment!!!!
I too wish that 0 was a rating option!! I was so excited at the thought of having a crib CD player!! Boy, what a major dissappointment!!! This CD player is sooooo quiet that even when you turn the volume all the way up, you can barely hear it. My 9 month old loves music and so I went and bought a lot of children's cd's. I ended up purchasing a little CD player and placing it on the table next to his crib in order for him to be able to hear it....more info
- A wonderful gift
I am surprised by the strong negative responses to this item. I have received it as a baby shower gift and never had any problems with it. My son is now almost 3 and we still use it. (granted, it had to be moved to a shelf)
Firstly about the battery compartment: yes, it IS hard to get to, but I think of it as a positive feature - does anyone have a 2-year old that wants to get into everything? About the volume control - I find the volume settings to be just perfect for a sleeping baby.
The best feature is the timing aspect of the CD player - you can program how long you want the music to play and then it switches itself off.
I would definitely recommend this item to all new moms. ...more info
- I Can't Believe all the Bad Reviews
I am shocked at all of the bad reviews that this CD Player is getting. I did not register for this item, but someone purchased it for me anyway. I almost returned it because of all of the bad reviews that it got, but I thought I'd give it a try. I'm happy to say that my 5 month old has been using it since birth for almost all of his naps (3-4 a day) & sometimes twice a nap so that I can keep him slumbering! It plays for at least 1/2 hour each nap & I've only changed the batteries 3 times. That's pretty good if you ask me...how long do you expect that batteries last?!?! As far as the volume, I sometimes find that I have to put it down very low because I don't want it too loud for sleeping...I don't think children should feel like they're at a live concert when trying to doze off. At any rate, my baby has developed GREAT sleep habits, and I feel I owe a lot of that to the peace this little CD player provides. Yes it is a little pricy, but my son has a small room, and a CD player on a dresser would take from space that is already lacking. The only comment I can agree with is that it is a bit difficult to open the CD compartment, but I rarely change the CD so it's not really a problem for us. Also, I think they make it a little more difficult so that little prying hands can't get to the CD when they're able to stand. The light is dim, but I didn't intend to use the product for that feature anyway. I recommend that every parent gives this product a try...I'm glad I did!!...more info
- So far so good!
I recently purchased this item and I have to say, so far it's working GREAT! Some complained about the sound NOT being loud enough...well I had to turn it down cause I felt it was too loud! Besides isn't the idea to put them to SLEEP! So far as the nightlight...have to agree it's dim...but that's NO biggy to me. If your thinking of buying it do so and simply keep the BOX and the receipt (as you should with ALL baby items you purchase). I also found the First years monitor with 2 receivers to be great as well and it's priced just right (I purchased an expensive one and got nothing but ANNOYING static)....more info
- HATED IT!!!!!!!
I BOUGHT THIS FOR MY SON FOR HIS FIRST CHRISTMAS AND WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!!! I WOULD HAVE RATED IT A 0 BUT THEY DON'T ALLOW IT. I ALSO WOULD RATE THE CUSTOMER SERVICE AT FIRST YEARS A ZERO . I CALLED THEM TO TALK ABOUT THE FACT THAT I DON'T REALLY USE THE CD PLAYER BUT FOR 15 MINS A COUPLE OF NIGHTS A WEEK AND ONLY HAD IT FOR A MONTH AND HAD TO CHANGE THE BATTERIES 3 TIMES AND THEY TOLD ME TO GO BUY RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES AND BATTERY CHARGER. I TOLD THEM I DIDN'T THINK I SHOULD HAVE TO DO ALL THAT AND THEY SAID THAT S THEY'RE ONLY ADVISE . THEY WOULD NOT REFUND MY MONEY FOR THE PRODUCT BUT ARE AWARE PEOPLE HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS AND ARE HAVING THEY'RE ENGINEERS LOOK INTO IT. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!!! BUY A REGULAR ONE YOU CAN SIT ON THE DRESSER I WISH I HAD!! I WISH MORE COMPANIES WOULD STAND BEHIND THEY'RE PRODUCTS!! IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE ME HOW BAD THIS PRODUCT IS I WILL SELL YOU MINE CHEAP!!!!!!!!!!!
- Horrible waste of money : (
If I could give this piece of junk a zero I would! Just buy yourself a small boombox and place it near the crib and save your money. We purchased this and returned/exchanged it 3 times just hoping that it was a fluke.
1. Sound level is Way wAy waY too low
2. Sucks batteries down like a cheap hooker and then getting to the compartment just to switch them out is like fort knox
3. Skips on just the smallest of scratches or bumps
4. Over priced
5. The cover that closes over the cd hardly opens. The first time when I tried to get it open (just enough to get my hand in) it snapped off....more info
- Sure, it's not in stereo, but so what?!
This has been a tremendous tool for putting my 18-month old to sleep. It's turned an every-night marathon, sometimes 1 1/2-2 hours, of putting her to sleep, into a relaxing 15-20 minutes. Happy Baby makes for happy Mama! The volume is soft, even at its max setting, but I find one of the soft-to-mid volume settings just perfect for bed time. I wholehearted recommend this for anyone with a toddler who is sleep challenged!...more info
- Surprised by the negative reviews
I'm really surprised by all of the negative reviews. I was skeptical about this product but registered for it anyway because I couldn't find anything else with such a convenient "crib-side" design. My daughter is almost 8 months old and we turn it on every night using the timer setting and the batteries have never run out. It's quiet compared to normal CD players, but if we turned it up all the way it would be too loud for bedtime. I would highly recommend this product....more info
- Does NOT fit on all cribs
I registered for this cd player but never even used it. Upon putting my crib together, we quickly realised it wouldn't work with our Baby Italia crib, the clip is not big enough.
Be sure to try it in the store before you buy it.
- The BEST baby buy!!!
I received this cd player as a gift and I LOVE it! My baby sleeps so soundly with lullabies playing on it. The nightlight is great to use during middle-of-the-night feedings and the volume control is perfect for baby's ears! I have not experienced any inconveniences of using this product and I would HIGHLY recommend it for any new parent. It fits snuggly on the crib rails and all of the buttons and controls are safely covered for when baby grows to be able to reach them. This company has thought of everything! Excellent product! Couldn't get through bedtime as well without it! Also fantastic to travel with! Hooks great onto hotel cribs and pack and plays!...more info
- Nice Idea, Poorly Implemented
I'm a music junkie, and I'm determined to pass this particular affliction down to my son. So, when I found this crib-mounted CD player I had to have it! I loved the concept, but once put into use, I was disappointed. My experience and opinions:
* Poor battery life, and the battery compartment is difficult to access.
* The brackets that that hold the player onto the crib are made of the same hard plastic as the rest of the player. If you have a crib like we do with a painted finish, beware of scratches. I've lined them with felt.
* Inconsistent play with "burned" CDs.
* Overall the product feels a bit cheap.
Some of this could be overlooked if it wasn't a $50 product. That's a lot of cash for a very basic CD player.
A thoughtful product. Someone at First Years was thinking out of the box, but ultimately at this price point I expected more....more info
- I like ours . . .
Mine doesn't skip. It does go through batteries fairly quickly, but I use the timer for only 15 minutes of play, so the batteries last longer. That's all my baby needs to go to sleep. The volume is low, even at max, so I can't really use it for him to listen to if he's in his room playing. I use it only for going to sleep. Baby knows when music and nightlight come on, it's time to lay down and go to sleep. Overall, I'm happy w/my purchase....more info
- Grandson's Love For Music
Grandson loves this CD player. Fits on crib perfect. Sounds great. He loves his music....more info
- Horrible Product
This product plays mediocre music and eats through batteries at a rate I have never witnessed before. I am not kidding when I say we replace the 2 "C" batteries at least weekly when all we do is play one CD as our child is falling asleep. Just because this product is marketed toward kids, doesn't mean there aren't other options. Unless you need something that attaches to the railing of a crib, there are better table top CD players available....more info
- Batteries won't last
The batteries seem to die every few days! It happens so often that we run out of batteries and then the CD player sits, useless, for long periods of time until we get around to getting new batteries. We've hardly gotten to assess the rest of the features because it's been useless more often than it's been useful. I wouldn't recommend this product unless you have a LIFETIME supply of batteries handy....more info
- great find!
This crib cd player is great! We have been using it nearly every day for 16 months now and we haven't had a bit of trouble with it. It is even relatively easy on batteries! We would recommend this to anyone who wants some nice playtime or lullaby music for their little one....more info
- GREATEST GIFT!
I have bought this for several baby showers and it always seems to be a big hit. ...more info
- it gets worse before it gets better...even dangerous
we have had this product since our child went into a crib. the music was fine in the early years, and the product presented few challenges. ever since our daughter could pull herself up and fumble with the device, it has been a little dicey.today was the very worse, as our inquisitive daughter got her finger stuck in the back where the attachment clips go. it turned out to be some trauma of dis lodging her finger, but it truly could have easily been a broken or amputated finger within minutes of our arrival. this has to be reviewed for safety sakes. it is truly a terrible accident waiting to happen
- It will not rock the house
It is present for very low volume, even if you crank it up all the way you will barely hear it (which makes sense since it is for a baby, just wanted to let you know what to expect). It can hold on to any normal crib or bassinet edge but it requires some vertical support or it will just rotate around the horizontal hold. In the bassinet I use the surrounding fabric to keep it mostly vertical although it does tend to rotate a little (I can live with it but you may find it annoying). Night light is LED and good. You cannot really operate with one hand, it is not tough, it just needs one to hold the unit and the other to operate. I am happy with it....more info
Ignoring the multitude of negative reviews on Amazon, I purchased this for our child. This CD player is a complete waste of money. First, the sound is so low at maximum volume that it is audible only in the very quietest of times. No screaming baby is going to be even touched by its effect - which defeats the major purpose of calming a baby. Second, the player is so designed that if you have a sleeper other than a crib with slats, the sound will be completely muffled, worsening its already low volume. Third, the system of hooking the player onto the crib rail is iffy at best. A small knock and it will fall off, either onto the infant or the floor. Fourthly, the unit visibly and tangibly vibrates when playing a cd. It is flabbergasting that a reputed company like "The First Years" could market such a disappointment. This CD player is going back to Amazon, even though I will have to pay for S&H both ways. ...more info
