Product Description

Polder 307 cooking thermometer is programmed for your convenience. So now you don't have to guess whether foods are cooked properly. Just scroll the menu to select beef, lamb, veal, pork, turkey, and chicken - from rare to well done. (An additional screen lets you add one more setting for your favorite dish.) A loud 1-minute alarm tells you when the food reaches the proper inner temperature. The preprogrammed thermometer comes with a 3-foot-long wire that does not interfere with the oven door so while the probe stays in the meat inside the oven, the digital readout sits on the countertop so that you can keep track of the inner temperature of the food that's cooking. In other words, you don't have to open the oven door to check on the progress of your roast. 1 Year Polder USA Warranty.

No longer guess about whether beef or poultry has reached the correct internal temperature--your meats will be deliciously tender and juicy with this preprogrammable timer. Insert the 7-inch probe and select the preferred temperature setting (rare, medium, well done) for beef, lamb, veal, pork, turkey, chicken, and one custom setting. Curious to know the progress? The large LCD readout on the magnetized display presents internal temperature continuously during cooking. The loud five-minute alarm gives you plenty of time to respond. --Madeleine Miller

Features:
  • 6 meat and 4 "doneness" settings allow for precise cooking
  • Digital readout displays inner temperature of food while cooking
  • 43" probe wire allows for probe to reach safely out of oven
  • USDA food temperature chart included for guidelines for recommended meat temperatures
  • Presettable alarms let user set times for checking temperatures

Customer Reviews:

  • Wast of time & Money
I just recived this for X Mass, it is listed as a accessorie in the Weber grill catalog. Most of the reviews say
it was used for a couple of months befor it stoped working, this one never worked, just reads Hi Temp when the probe is pluged in and sounds the alarm.
Called Weber an said I will be shiped a new one, I would like a good one.
Don't waist your time or money.

    Thank You

  • Polder probe is weak link
I have not 1 but 2 Polder thermometers with bad probes. (I know that they're bad because I tested them in a pot of boiling water). One reads "192 degrees" and the other reads "232 degrees". No way to fix or recalibrate so both thermometers are worthless. BAHHHHH!Polder Original Cooking Timer and Thermometer...more info
  • Polder 307 thermometer
My first Polder 307 failed when my barbeque overheated. The probe never worked again. I don't fault the product in this case since I didn't mind the temperature adequately.
The recently purchased Polder 307 works perfectly. Once the probe is properly placed, the readout is very accurate.
My only disappointment is the cost of replacement probes. It was far more cost effective to purchase an entirely new unit than a probe. I'd like to see two-packs of probes at a reduced price. That certainly would keep me "brand-loyal."...more info
  • I never have to worry about dried out or under cooked meat!
My friend had this thermometer and told me I had to get one and that it would be the one thing that I would never regret buying.I have to say she was right on.I Love it!...more info
  • Good for Candy-making
I use this thermometer for making candy as well as cooking meat, and it works really well. There is a clip to attach it to the pan while you cook. No more wondering whether you're at the "soft-ball" stage yet or not. I love it for oatmeal no-bake cookies....more info
  • I've had four of these
Great product but it lasts less than a year. I've became tired of sending it back so I bought another brand, it also broke in less than 12 months. I lost the recipt so I'm back for yet another. These are so convient that as long as you hold on to the reciept they are worth the hassle....more info
  • Great themometer, terrible probe!!!
This is a very useful tool for cooking meats of all kinds. However, caveat emptor: the removable probe can be problematic. I got a brand-new one of these products and within the 2nd use, the probe had failed. I was not able to easily get a replacement from Polder as it had been a gift, so ended up purchasing a new probe and then it worked fine. If they could perfect that part of the system, this would be a perfect cooking tool!...more info
  • Does someone hear a bird? cheap cheap cheap
I had this item for about two weeks and loved it. Until, the cord failed and the unit went crazy and gave all wild readings. After reading some reviews here I figured I would contact Polder to see if I could get a replacement cord.

    I NEVER heard from them.

Cheap cheap cheap. Not bad customer service.... NO customer service. They didn't even bother to tell me to go away. I will never buy Polder again....more info
  • Great while it lasted
Had my polder thermometer lasted longer than 6 months, I would have given it a 4 or 5 star rating.

Having a probe with a cord is a great idea. It is very convenient for monitoring temperatures in ovens or smokers if you don't want to raise the lid. Combined with the temperature alert feature (you can set a temperature to set of the alarm), the polder is very handy. Unfortunately, having gone through two probes, it appears that they are too delicate for this kind of use. It is very easy to damage the cord and then you will get wildly off readings.

My other criticism of the polder is the time that it takes to react to temperature changes and the length of time it takes to get an accurate reading. My Taylor instant read obtains a reading in a few seconds. The polder often takes much longer (15-20 seconds), which can be an issue when checking steaks on a very hot grill.

In summary, don't buy this device unless you want to buying replacement probes frequently....more info

  • Do bot buy. LCD screen failed on 2 thermometers.
I bought 2 thermometers within the last 2 years.
The LCD screen on the first one failed after about a year.
I took the second one out from its package and put fresh
batteries in it and it failed immediately
even though it was NEW taken from its original box!
So now I have 2 thermometers that
I can't use because of broken LCD screens.
I am never buying anything from POLDER ever again....more info
  • Too many problems to be happy with.
I bought this to replace a nice Williams-Sonoma model which simplified things with buttons to select meats and cooking doneness levels...only because I lost the proble travelling from relatives' houses. This Polder had the extra benefit (I thought) of reading the oven temperature as well as the food temps. I used it Thanksgiving -- no time like an important holiday, right? -- and discovered the warts on the thermometer:

If you set the oven temperature, its alarm will go off every 3-4 minutes because your oven naturally cycles between high and low while heating your food. You can only turn the alarm off for two minutes, then it's going to sound again. Once you set an oven temperature, you cannot disable the alarm. The only workaround I found was to set it 50กใ too high so I could monitor the oven temperature without running back every few minutes to quiet it.

Setting the food temperature is up to you (no presets for beef, pork, etc. or levels of doneness) and if you make a mistake you must, like cheap digital watches, go all the way up to 600กใ and back around from zero again to fix it. There's no CLEAR button to help start over (for either oven or food). Plus, turning the device off and on again does not erase the settings!

There were occasional temperature fluctuations of over 25กใ during cooking (from 350กใ dropping to 325กใ) which I had a hard time understanding. Maybe it was the oven, but that was hard to believe. This made it tough to set and forget with all the constant fiddling of the temp dial to get it right.

The Polder rarely agreed with an in-oven slow-set thermometer I put in to check against, so I couldn't average out the temperatures.

Finally, although the Polder said the turkey I roasted was only 165กใ, it seemed overcooked by 5-6 degrees, but of course that depended on my placement as much as anything, so benefit of the doubt goes to the probe. I'm trying it again today with another bird to see if it's still problematic, but I'm not recommending it because of the alarm problem....more info
  • Great! For the short time it lasted
I bought this to use with my grill. After using it 5 or 6 times it stopped working....more info

  • No Timer!
I guess I didn't read the description carefully enough, but this doesn't have a timer built-in - something I was expecting. As a digital thermometer it's pretty good, but I was expecting a bit more functionality....more info
  • Great tool for the kitchen
I purchased this thermometer in preparation for roasting our Thanksgiving turkey. Since that time I have roasted several types of meats and have achieved excellent results each time. Beyond the tool's accuracy, is its convenience. Having its alarm notify you when the target temperature is reached, is a great help when you're entertaining and subject to the distractions of guests.

If there is any downside to the Polder, it's the unavoidable fact that the cable has to be extended from inside the oven to outside on some nearby surface. Working around that small cable can be bothersome.

But all in all, I wouldn't be without this tool. It yields perfect cooking temperatures for a variety of meats....more info
  • LED Display doesn't work!
The unit worked well until the display starting to malfunction. The LED display doesn't display properly. There are lines missing, so you can't see the whole word or temperature numbers. I am now in the process of looking for a better unit with a display that actually works. ...more info
  • polder thermometer
I bought this product around christmas last year. I am a professional chef. This product worked perfectly up until today. It has stopped reading temp. and just displays the words high temp.. I am trying to find out wear the company is but am having no luck. If it were still working I would rate this 5 stars. But what should I expect for 30 bucks, a lifetime? Thanks for listening, David McCreavy...more info
  • Excellent kitchen tool - wish the probe had lasted more than 13 months.
This was a great tool. I've made the best roasts and hams ever since I started using it. No more opening the oven and trying to determine if the meat was done to the right degree. Unfortunately, the probe only lasted about 13 months - just out of warranty - after less than a dozen uses. So now it is useless and I am not sure I want to try this brand again....more info
  • Great idea, breaks in 6-9 months
I've owned 3 of these and they are wonderful when they work. However, they don't work for long, averaging about 6 months for me which gets kind of expensive.

I'm currently looking for a more reliable version of the same thing, these are just too disappointing....more info
