Strengths: Awesome Photo and Scanning quality and nice features.

Weaknesses: Slow, Large, VERY SENSITIVE to scanning correctly or printing. Says its jammed when its not, or does really jam, or spits out multiple sheets.

Summary: Great printer overall except for it being HIGHLY tempermental!
Nearly every print one of the above problems happen. Tried every single thing in the troubleshooting on loading paper, still does it.

Other wise I loved this printer, but the paper feed is SO bad I am exchanging it with my carry in replacement warranty this week.

Strengths: Excellent photo output, individual color cartridges, simple setup, multi-format card reader, copier function, USB 2.0 interface.

Weaknesses: Software bundle is not well integrated, slower than advertised printing speeds

Summary: I bought this printer not only as an upgrade to an older printer and scanner, but also to print photos from my new digital camera and to scan/reprint older photos. This printer does an excellent job of all of these. I started printing digital photos within minutes of hooking up the printer and I must say that the output quality matches or exceeds anything you can get processed commercially from 35mm film. Output from scanned photos is excellent as well, you can barely tell the difference!

The software bundle sometimes leaves a bit to be desired. Many of the functions that you need could have been loaded into one program rather than the 4+ applications that were included. When you want to print digitak photos, you must load a program called PhotoImpression which does a fine job of allowing you to pick and choose the photos that you want to print, however navigating the interface is a bit less intuitive than I would have expected from a product geared toward "non-technical types" (i.e.: the average user). But don't let that deter you, this is still a fine product.

Frankly, I have never been too impressed with all-in-one printers. But, this one far surpassed my expectations, especially in output quality. Once you get past playing around with and learning all of the included programs, you find this printer to be a great bargain.

Strengths: Very good photo print quality. Excellent scan quality. Easy to set up and easy to use. Good price. USB connection.

Weaknesses: Fair text print quality. Big size.

Summary: Does pretty good job on 4x6 photo print. Haven't printed on other sizes yet.
Scanned and printed an old picture, my wife could hardly tell which one was original.
No trouble with installing software on my Windows XP, but it took quite a while to install the whole thing.
Printed a test page using plain paper. It wasn't as good as my laser printer. But this is a photo printer.
Bottom line, if you need to do most of your jobs on photo prints, just occasionally some text prints, or copy jobs, this is the one. Otherwise, consider CX6400 if you are an Epson fan.

Strengths: Price value; quality of scanning and printing photos

Weaknesses: Can't find any.

Summary: I've researched scanners and printers to support my digital photography hobby for quite a while. Loved the HP Photosmart line but didn't like a couple of scanners that had good ratings. Also I hated to use up my desk space for two machines. . .watched the all-in-ones and finally found those that support photography. Tried this machine because Office Depot will accept returns within two weeks, even if you use the machine. Scanned pictures printed out even better than the original and prints from the digital camera were sharp and beautiful I think the speed is fine and don't find it noisy. After all it's a machine! Satisfies my need for small foot print (vs two machines) plus excellent scanning and printing quality at a great price vs buying two machines. Found supplied software a little confusing but didn't spend much time trying to learn because I have software that I like for editing before printing.

Strengths: speed of printing, color photo clarity, awesome looking machine, ability to print from thumbnails printed from digital media.

Weaknesses: not found any yet!

Summary: I work at a office supply store and see lots of machines come through. This all in one is by far the exception to the rule! It does just about everything! What doesn't it do? It won't send faxes free standing (I didn't buy it for that though!) and it won't clean my homes windows! Go figure!

Strengths: Prints great, copies fast, works like a charm not very many complaints. looks pretty, but is bulky.

Weaknesses: Its big, it says it can scan negatives, but i havent been able to get it to scan them they come out too blurry. Do not print on epson photo paper it comes out bad, unless you set it for super slow...

Summary: Prints great, just not on epson photo paper, if you do print on epson photo you have to set the paper to glossy photo, take off fast printing, turn on micro weave and put it on PhotoRPM it takes like 10 minutes oer page, so buy hp or kodak photo paper

Weaknesses: Expense if ink but that is a problem on all ink jet printers.

Summary: (Edited February 20th by ocn) Highly recommended will do most of what the average user needs. So far it seems to be straight forward on the ease of use. I was surprised how quiet the printer is. The C-84 I had was not quiet at all.

Strengths: Excellent scanner and photo printer.

Weaknesses: Poor-quality print on non-Epson papers, text print out only fair quality, inks not water-resistant.

Summary: The quality of scans and photo printouts rivals that of my last all-in-one, which cost 3 times what the RX500 does. Easy to change ink cartridges, you can clean both sides of the glass on the scanner bed, and it has the option of saving settings for various types of print jobs, saving much time and guess work. But there, the praise ends. I print all my own greeting cards, including matching graphics on the envelopes, and also address all my envelopes via computer. I've tried 3 different brands of guaranteed ink-jet envelopes, and on all, ended up with numerous spots and blotches of ink on them. The inks are so sensitive to moisture that a page of text (on Epson paper), sitting in my car for 3 days in humid weather, had bled drastically. A mere speck of water makes text unreadable, so an envelope mailed on a rainy day might never reach it's destination. I emailed Epson about the problem, asking if the Dura-Brite (water-resistant)ink cartridges were available for this unit, and got no reply. So, I now have to buy a photo-quality printer (it won't be Epson) for my greeting cards, envelopes & text. For the price of the two printers, I could have bought an all-in-one that TRULY did it all, and wouldn't be sitting here wondering exactly where it is I'm going to put a second printer. Save yourself grief and space, and don't buy this unit.

Weaknesses: none that I have found, although fax would be nice

Summary: I bought the RX500 to scan old photos and slides so that I could print them out for a photo album I was putting together. It did such a good job in fixing the color of them that my wife remarked they look better than the originals and she was glad that I had bought it. I can't think of a better recomendation than that.

Strengths: fairly fast copying for an all in one inkjet

Weaknesses: very big footprint

Summary: This printer is fairly quiet and has a nice scanner on it for an all-in-one. The speed is very acceptable, however it is very big, so make sure you have a lot of deskspace. I guess that is where those flat-pannel monitors come in handy.

Strengths: 6 color cartridges. Built in slide/negative scanner. Memory card reader. Awesome prints even on plain paper. Cost of ink = Much less than HP.

Weaknesses: No Fax. Large compared to the HP All in One. Rear paper tray doesn't help to make it any smaller.

Summary: I love this printer. I was skeptical getting an Epson since I have always had HP printers, but when you look at the price of the ink between HP and Epson, I decided I would try my luck with the Epson.

There is only one thing that I would change about this printer and that's the size (the depth of it is huge). But, for all of the features that they pack into this, it's a great little printer.

The only other thing that I would like to see is a Fax machine built into it. I usually prefer sheet fed fax machines, but even if I had to scan them in one at a time, it would be convenient just to have.

The print quality is amazing on this printer, even when it is on the next to the best print quality and on generic photo paper. I believe the extra 2 colors make a big difference. Also, the Epson software that comes with this printer is very nice.

I would definitely recommend this printer to anyone, for the print quality and also the prices of the ink cartridges.

Strengths: Exceptional photo prints quality. Relatively quiet.

Weaknesses: Paper tray likes to jam several pages at times, if not feeded carefully.

Summary: This is a great all-in-one printer. Fast for inject type of printers, very easy to operate and quiet. Prints clear text, great graphics and superb photos. It won't let you forget a thing, like leaving the tray closed. Loading paper is easy, too, but one must be careful to do it properly, or it may jam. Six ink cartridges seem to be more economical. I'm glad I chose this printer, after using my noisy Hewlett-Packard for few years.
